He was a relative unknown prior to the first round of this year's NBA Playoffs.

But now Patrick Beverley is in the news for all the wrong reasons, at least if you ask Oklahoma City Thunder fans.

The Houston Rockets guard snuck in to try and steal the ball from Russell Westbrook in Game 2 of his team's series late last week... only to end up causing a season-ending knee injury to the elite point guard.

As a result, Beverley has received at least one major death threat.

Soon after the news of Westbrook's injury broke, Mitchell Brown, a ball boy for the Thunder, Tweeter: “Patrick Beverly (sic), I’m coming to kill you."

When Olympic gymnastics gold medalist Gabby Douglas said the first thing she did to celebrate was go to McDonald's, Michelle Obama died a little inside.

Now the athlete is teaming up with the fast food chain, but FLOTUS can take solace in the fact that she's promoting one of its new healthy recipes.

Or at least healthier.

McD’s and Gabby are pushing the Egg White Delight McMuffin, made with 100% egg whites, lean Canadian bacon, white cheddar and a whole grain muffin.

To celebrate, Douglas went undercover in Times Square to literally flip for the new product (see video above). What do you think? Would you try it?

Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers is nasty on the mound.

He has four wins, leads Major League Baseball in strikeouts and nearly threw a perfect game already this season. That's what having five great pitches can do for you.

Check out his impressive arsenal in one animated GIF!

Yu Darvish GIF

Any baseball fan who's seen Darvish pitch can tell you that he's good, but this really illustrates how dynamic - and different - his five pitches can be.

Perhaps opposing hitters should take notes ... or forget they ever saw this. If you know what's coming and still can't hit it, that's even more disheartening.

The Detroit Lions may not win very often on the field.

But the team has now gone back-to-back where it really counts: The Madden video game cover!

Following in the cleat-steps of Calvin Johnson last year, legendary running back Barry Sanders was voted the cover star of this wildly popular video game's 25th edition, beating out an impressive field in the process.

Sanders triumphed over Ray Lewis, Marcus Allen, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice on his way to the finals, defeating Adrian Peterson in the championship yesterday.

Hope Solo. With the U.S. soccer star, there's rarely a dull moment.

Wednesday afternoon, Hope was apparently trying to either text or direct-message a friend, but ended up Tweeting out her phone number to 660,000 followers.

Solo quickly deleted the tweet ... then claimed it was a joke?

Hope S. Tweets

U ain't got that new number, Hope Solo followers! BURN!

The number was actually for her hair salon (we've been told, not that we called), making the situation - or Solo's rationalization of it - no less puzzling.

Naturally, this captured the attention of Solo's fans:

With the NFL draft beginning today, it only makes sense that Draft Day, the new football dramedy from Ivan Reitman, is also beginning production today!

In fact, the film will shoot some scenes at the actual draft, before moving to Cleveland to finish production.

In addition to the start of filming, Draft Day has added Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and Terry Crews to the already star-studded cast.

The NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars have new uniforms!

Will they make the team any less terrible in 2013?

Unclear. Will they look a little sleeker? You bet!

Jaguars New Uniforms

The patch on the left side of the jersey, over the heart, ties into the team's theme of Stand United and pays tribute to the Florida city’s military presence.

The helmet fades from black to gold, the numbers and lettering are more angular and distinctive, and the Nike uniforms are supposedly more "high tech."

Whatever that means.

Much like the Miami Dolphins' new logo, the switch doesn't inspire strong opinions one way or the other, and doesn't change a whole lot. But it's cool.
