Oscar De La Hoya Admits to Cocaine Use, Thoughts of Suicide
In a new interview with Univision, former boxer Oscar De La Hoya has opened up about the depth of his personal issues, which culminated this spring in a trip to rehab.
"Rock bottom was recently," De La Hoya said, according to an English-language transcript provided by the network. "Within couple of years, just thinking if my life was even worth it. I don't have the strength, I don't have the courage to take my own life but I was thinking about it."
De La Hoya says he's been sober for three months and admits, yes, he was unfaithful to his wife. However: "We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here."
Javaris Crittenton: Arrested!
Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton has been arrested on murder charges.
The fugitive from justice was trying to board an airplane in Orange County, Calif. Crittenton had checked in for a flight to Atlanta Monday night, where his lawyer said he was going to surrender in the murder case against him.
He was taken into custody and booked at an L.A. police station.
A wanted man by the FBI, he was booked on suspicion of being a fugitive from justice, a bureau source has confirmed to the Washington Post.
Javaris, who played for the Washington Wizards and was the other player involved in the Gilbert Arenas gun incident, allegedly killed Julian Jones.
Cops believe Crittenton was not aiming at Jones but rather someone else in the area who may have robbed the former basketball player in April.
Javaris Crittenton: A Wanted Man
Javaris Crittenton, the former shooting guard for Georgia Tech University and the Washington Wizards, is officially a wanted man.
The 24-year old is accused of killing Jullian Jones on August 19, a mother of four, in a botched attempt to retaliate against the person who robbed him in April. Considered "armed and dangerous" by the Atlanta police, authorities have released the following poster of Crittenton:
The FBI believes Crittenton is in Los Angeles and has put up a cash reward for information leading to his arrest.
Meanwhile, Gilbert Arena - who actually drew guns with Crittenton inside the Washington locker room two years ago - has Tweeted the following in response to the case:
I really wanna say sumthing but i wont becuz theirs a dead woman involved.
Javaris Crittenton, Former NBA Guard, Charged with Murder
Javaris Crittenton, a former standout at Georgia Tech and the Washington Wizards player who got into a gun standoff with Gilbert Arenas in 2009, has been charged with murder.
Police spokesman Carlos Campos tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that cops have obtained an warrant for the arrest of Crittenton in relation to the shooting death of 22-year-old Jullian Jones on August 19. At this time, Crittenton is NOT in custody.
Jones was a mother of four who was killed when shots were fired by someone inside a dark SUV, police say. They believe she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and the intended target was a man who robbed Crittenton in April.
Lenny Dykstra: Charged With Incedent Craigslist Exposure!
Already facing a host of felony embezzlement charges, former baseball star Lenny Dykstra has now been charged with indecent exposure, as well.
The allegation? Whipping out his junk for women he met on Craigslist.
According to officials, Len went to Craigslist posting ads for a personal assistant or housekeeping service, then pulled the ol' dong-bait-and-switch.
Lenny's nickname was "Nails." Insert bad joke here.
When the women arrived, Dykstra would "inform the women that the job also required them to give a massage and would expose himself to them."
Pretty standard procedure, isn't it? Did they not read the ad?
Dykstra, who's already in custody on federal and state charges for auto theft, identity theft, embezzlement from himself (our favorite) filing false statements, possession of cocaine and Ecstasy, and so on, could face even more jail time if convicted.
Sounds like someone needs a wang and a prayer.
Jantel Lavender, WNBA Rookie, Accused of Crotch Violence, Death Threats
Jantel Lavender, a rookie on the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, has been accused of making like Charlie Sheen.
Based on documents filed with the L.A. County Superior Court this week, the fifth overall draft pick's ex-boyfriend (Adam Ashley) has been granted a restraining order against Lavender following a July 5 incident in which he alleges she threatened him with a knife.
Lavender is also accused of kneeing her ex so hard in the crotch that his private parts were "throbbing from the pain," while also slamming his head into a wall and choking him.
The 6'4" forward must stay at least 100 yards away from Ashley, and has filed a restraining order of her own in response, saying Adam once tried to punch her. A court date has been set for August 30.
Lavender attended Ohio State and averages 7 points per game for the Sparks. She's shooting 51% from the field.
Gia Allemand and Ryan Anderson: Dating!
Gia Allemand (Bachelor Pad) and Ryan Anderson (Orlando Magic) are dating! Talk about a slam dunk, or a better basketball/love metaphor!
The 27-year-old model said that "fate stepped in" when she was introduced to Ryan while doing a photo shoot in The Bahamas in February.
"We ended up hanging out every minute I was able to when I wasn't working," says Allemand, who was soon offered a job in The Bahamas.
That required her relocation to Florida - where Anderson's pro team happens to be - in order to "be flown to the Bahamas every weekend."
Allemand, who recently designed a line a bathing suits for The G Stop, says she and the 23-year-old Anderson have been going strong.
"Not only was it love at first sight but it seemed like a touch of destiny. We now both live in Orlando and couldn't be happier," Allemand says.
"I think I may have finally found the one!"
Eat it, Jake Pavelka and Wes Hayden.
Jay Cutler: Trying to Win Back Kristin Cavallari?
Looks like Jay Cutler realizes he dropped the ball.
The Chicago Bears QB reunited with ex-fiancee (and rumored Dancing With the Stars contestant Kristin Cavallari) in Chicago, and he wants her back, reports say. Really. Nameless sources say “He’s been trying to get her back."
But is that true? And will he succeed if so?
"All of the rumors were that Jay dumped her but that was totally false and she knew something wasn’t right,” an insider says. “He totally has a rep for being blah and a douche. But I haven’t heard about him going out at all lately.”
Jay and Kristin were spotted out together in Chicago over the weekend, “walking in the West Loop, where he lives,” the tabloid insider adds.
“Maybe he really did change and realized what he lost?” a pal of the former couple asks. “I wouldn’t be surprised if they give it another go.”
Kristin and Jay abruptly called off their engagement last month, amid reports that the football star was the one who called things off.
After the 24-year-old did a photo shoot in her wedding dress, no less. If they do get back together, that will be a tough turn of events to forget.
Christy Martin Alleges Sexism Against Referee, California Athletic Commission
Women's Super Welterweight Boxing Champ Christy Martin, is putting her dukes up outside the ring - against the California State Athletic Commission.
Claiming the organization is sexist and she lost what would have been her 50th win lifetime as a result, Christy and Gloria Allred are taking swift action.
Christy fought Dakota Stone last June at the Staples Center in L.A., and was ahead in points with 51 seconds left when the referee stopped the fight.
Stone was awarded the win, as the ref felt Christy couldn't continue because her hand was injured. Christy and Gloria certainly don't see it that way.
Gloria claims all Christy did was "momentarily wince," and she wanted to continue, and halting the bout was "an unfair and sexist double standard."
In other words, Allred is saying that the referee would never have stopped a similar fight under the same circumstances if the boxers were male.
She may not have a terrible point there.
Last fall, Christy's then-husband allegedly tried to stab, shoot her and pistol-whip her to death. Now a minor hand injury - in boxing - ends a fight?

Lawrence Taylor Accuser: Pissed at Pimp
Lawrence Taylor's underage prostitute is pissed at Rasheed Davis.
Lashing out against her former pimp and begging the judge to throw the book at the sex trafficker, she spoke out at a press conference today - bolstered by the incomparable Gloria Allred - in front of a federal courthouse in NYC.
Rasheed Davis and his NFL legend client.
The girl, now 18 but underage at the time Taylor was arrested for rape, believes that Rasheed Davis deserves "the maximum sentence in prison."
According to Gloria, that's 10 years, given that he pleaded guilty to allegations he used her in the sex trafficking ring that Taylor was snared in.
It's not likely he'll get that much time, but cross your fingers. For his part, Taylor avoided prison time but had to register as a sex offender.
