Hank Williams, Jr., has officially been fired by ESPN, ending the country crooner's 22-year run as the singer of the network's Monday Night Football intro theme.

His recent of comparison of President Obama to Hitler was the cause.

ESPN already pulled Hank's song from Monday's game as they mulled Williams' fate, but has now decided to cut ties with him permanently. The network said:

"We appreciate his contributions over the past years, however, the success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue."

Ouch. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Hank also called Obama and Joe Biden "the enemy" and "the three stooges" (he did not reveal the third stooge's identity).

Minutes after getting canned, Williams dubiously tried to claim HE LEFT his easy, famous, high-paying gig at ESPN, saying in a statement, "I have made MY decision."

The irate singer adds, "By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.”

Like so many, Williams apparently does not understand the First Amendment.

This right allows him to say what he likes without fear of persecution, yes. It does not, however, preclude a private company from firing him for being a dumbass.

Sorry, Hank. Herman Cain would agree with us, here: Blame yourself.

Hope Solo is not sexy. Her words, not ours.

"I still don't buy the idea that I'm a sex symbol," the 30-year-old soccer star tells ESPN magazine in its annual Body Issue, which features her nude on the cover.

"Sure, I've had marriage proposals, invitations to military balls and prom offers. But my entire purpose is trying to be the best, and if that exudes beauty too … it means the image of the typical female body type is finally evolving."

Hope Solo Nude

As an international soccer star, Olympic gold medalist and Dancing With the Stars hopeful (Maksim Chmerkovskiy's dream partner in fact), Hope is riding high these days.

That wasn't always the case for the athlete.

"Growing up, I felt insecure about my build," adds the 5'9", 150-lb. Solo. "Guys would say, 'Look at those muscles! You can kick my ass!' I didn't feel feminine."

"But that's changed in the last four years."

What do you think of Hope Solo's ESPN Magazine cover? Cheap gimmick or sending a positive message about body image? Share your comments with us below.

File this under Couples You Never Saw Coming: Emily Maynard and Jeremy Shockey of The Bachelor and Carolina Panthers, respectively, are totally dating!

After announcing her split from her fiance Brad Womack in June, the ABC reality show's fan favorite has moved on to the four-time Pro Bowl NFL tight end.

How the heck did that come about?

  • Sad Emily Maynard
  • Jeremy Shockey Picture

The only downside we can see? Emily not being The Bachelorette in 2012!

"They were set up on a blind date," by a mutual friend on the Panthers staff, according to Us. Their first date? At BLT Steak in Charlotte's Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Sounds like it went pretty darn well.

"They've been out five times since," says a pal of Emily Maynard, the single mother of six-year-old Ricki. "She thinks Jeremy is nice, but she's just having fun!"

That's a good thing. That stiff Brad Womack really wasn't much in the way of fun ... or genuine emotion. He may or may not have been a cyborg, actually.

For those who don't know Jeremy Shockey, the Oklahoma native spent six years making headlines on and off the field as  standout for the N.Y. Giants.

His career han't been the same since a season-ending 2007 injury, but if he ends up with Emily Maynard, his downward spiral to Carolina will be well worth it.

They haven't publicly said if they're re-engaged or not, but Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are definitely a couple again. The often-maligned Bears quarterback cheered her on in person last night on Dancing with the Stars!

Jay and Kristin called off their wedding this summer after over a year of dating, but have apparently reconciled. Here's her routine, which earned her 24 points:

Class move by Jay to support his former, and possibly future, fiancee. He probably won't be criticized for quitting on his Chicago teammates this time, either.

The Bears are coming off a 34-29 win over Carolina, evening their record at 2-2, and have an extra day off before taking on the Lions next Monday night.

We're guessing he won't be watching Kristin live then, but it's nice to see the couple back together and cheering on each other on TV or in person.

Monday Night Football was missing its familiar theme song last night after ESPN opted to pull the classic intro. Controversy over Hank Williams Jr.'s comments on Fox News about President Obama was the obvious catalyst.

Williams' singing "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night" had been a MNF staple - an American signature, even - for over 22 years. Then Hank had to go compare Obama to Adolf Hitler and ruin everything.

"While Hank Williams Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through Monday Night Football," ESPN said.

"We are extremely disappointed with Hank Williams Jr.'s comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast."

If you missed it, Williams weighed in on the politics of the day.

"It'd be like Hitler playing golf with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu," in reference to Obama golfing with House Speaker John Boehner.

"They're the enemy! Obama, Biden... the three stooges!"

Spoiler alert: We already know who's going to be in the Super Bowl.

Well, the halftime show anyway. Madonna will headline the extravaganza, according to SB Nation (dot) com. The 53-year-old Material Girl continues the NFL's recent tradition of recruiting musical legends to perform between halves.

Madonna in Toronto

Over the last 10 years, the Super Bowl halftime show has featured such artists as Prince, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen.

The move toward securing older artists came in response to the outcry over the notorious Janet Jackson-Justin Timberlake "wardrobe malfunction" of 2004.

The Black Eyed Peas halftime show this year was kind of terrible, which didn't do younger artists any favors either. Anyway, Madonna will surely bring her A-game.

A cautionary note to halftime show producers, though: Do not, under any circumstances, adorn the stage with hydrangeas. Super Bowl XLVI is set for February 5.

The hard times of the NBA lockout continue for unemployed ballers.

Indefinitely barred from signing with a team due to the league's labor dispute, unrestricted free agent guard Delonte West picked up another job at Regency Furniture Showrooms, a furniture chain in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Yes, we're serious. West also posted a series of pics on his Twitter.

Regency sells "living room, dining room, kitchen, office and bedroom furniture, along with mattress and accessories," according to its official website.

In August, West tweeted that he was applying for a job at Home Depot. West also told TrueHoop's Adam Reisinger in August he applied to Sam's Club.

On his application, West checked "Yes" when asked if he had ever been convicted of a crime. For the explanation, he cited simply "Misunderstanding."

West was arrested on September 2009, after police found guns in a guitar case on his three-wheeled motorcycle. West pleaded guilty in July 2010.

The seven-year NBA veteran has scored 9.7 points and dished out 3.7 assists per game career. He also may have scored with LeBron's mom in '10.

Milton Bradley, a former outfielder who played for seven teams over 12 seasons and was known as much for his volatile temper as for his career OBP of .364, was arrested yesterday.

Milton Bradley Card

As detailed by TMZ, Bradley's wife called 911 around 2 p.m. from Los Angeles and said her husband was chasing her around with a baseball bat. The 33-year old slugger - who was arrested in January for a separate domestic violence act - was subsequently taken into custody and booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

He was released from jail later that night on $30,000 bail.

In 2007, Bradley tore his ACL during an argument with an umpire. He missed the rest of the season.

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are reportedly reconciling.

The pair is "working it out," a source told People Tuesday. "They're not officially engaged again but they're definitely talking and figuring things out."

The former Hills star and Chicago Bears QB - who got engaged in April after just seven months of dating - abruptly called off their engagement in July.

This should help Jay soften the blow of the Bears' 1-2 start.

Kristin Cavallari was "dumped," "absolutely devastated" and "in shock" over how the dream wedding she was planning for the spring of 2012 ended.

While their previous relationship had moved too quickly, according to sources, the couple will be taking a different approach to dating this time around.

"Everything happened much too fast when they first got together. So this time they're just taking things slow," the source said. "They're talking a lot."

So much for the rumor of her dating Mark Ballas. Those two do have good chemistry ... on Dancing With the Stars. Here's their routine last night:

Apparently John Lackey's personal life sucks worse than his ERA.

The Boston Red Sox pitcher has filed to divorce his wife, Krista - who is in the middle of battling breast cancer - and became irate after receiving a text on the topic from an unknown source just before last night's start against the New York Yankees.

Lackey was highly emotional after Boston's dramatic 7-4 win in 14 innings last night, but he was fired up about more than Jacoby Ellsbury's heroics.

The terrible hurler lashed out at the media because of a text he said he received from a member of the media about 30 minutes before the contest.

Asked by Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald the seemingly innocuous question, "How do you think you pitched," he veered off topic. Big time.

"Let me tell you the truth," Lackey said.
