"Diesel - yes, a unique name but it suits him perfectly! - is doing wonderfully and growing fast. He’s a big guy, cruising around as he just started walking."

In addition to softball, Finch is an active supporter of the Wounded Warrior Foundation and the author of Throw Like a Girl: How to Dream Big and Believe in Yourself.

Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa is reportedly livid with the NBA star over pics of him partying with women in Spain last week, but is standing by him ... for now.

Vanessa Bryant flew to watch him play in the London Olympics as planned.

Sources close to Vanessa say she is "furious" and "embarrassed" over the photos of Kobe chatting up women at a party last week in Barcelona.

Here's one TMZ photo of Kobe and the girls in question at a nightclub:

Kobe Bryant Shirtless, Partying

Reportedly, Vanessa's anger at Kobe is not because she thinks he was putting it to those girls, but for being in a potentially embarrassing situation.

Whatever you want to make of that, Vanessa Bryant was pissed.

As for the fact that Kobe's shirtless, but he says someone spilled a drink on him, and he was only briefly shirtless before changing into a new shirt.

Add that to your book of excuses, guys.

The couple all but finalized their divorce earlier this year before reconciling, so you know this really didn't go over well. Still, she'll be by his side in London.

Vanessa reportedly says things have been going well with the basketball great since she called off the divorce, and feels this hurdle will be cleared as well.

NFL star Tim Tebow can be seen running shirtless, in the rain, and in slow motion no less, in this new video taken at the end of a recent team practice.

You are welcome, ladies. You are so very welcome.

The New York Jets backup removed his jersey during a heavy downpour, leading to razzing from his teammates and leaving plenty of tongues wagging.

Watch. Enjoy. Then watch again if you like. It's okay.

"You have to give him a hard time," linebacker Bryan Thomas joked to ESPN. "Man, that's not Christian-like," Bart Scott added. "Maybe it was holy water?"

Or maybe Tim wanted to serve notice to another even-more-frequently shirtless, drenched athletic heart throb that he doesn't have the market cornered.

The gauntlet has been thrown down, Ryan Lochte.

A dramatic Sunday night in London ended with one of America's best hopes for a Gold Medal in tears yesterday, as Jordyn Wieber failed to qualify for all-around final in Women's Gymnastics.

The reigning world champion faltered a bit on her vault, beam, bars and floor routines, earning scores below teammates Aly Raisman and Gabrielle Douglas. Only two representatives from each country are permitted to perform in the final round.

"It's a little bit of a disappointment," the 17-year old Wieber said in a statement. "It's always been a dream of mine to compete for the all-around at the Olympics, shoot for that gold medal. But I'm really proud of Aly and Gabby both. And I'm glad that I'll be able to help the team out in the team finals."

Well, this is no fun.

Billed as the biggest individual rivalry at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte are being all... classy with each other. Don't they know this is a competition?!?

Lochte Wins

Not long after Lochte won the Gold Medal in the 400 IM today, Phelps - who did not finish in the top three in that event for the first time since 2000 - sent a congratulatory Tweet to his countryman, writing:

Congrats to @ryanlochte ... Way to keep that title in the country where it belongs!!

The winner then replied: Thanks @MichaelPhelps I couldn't do it with out you. #USA

Phelps has six more events in front of him and needs two medals to set the all-time Olympic mark. But this race belonged to his rival.

“This is my year,” Lochte said after earning Gold. “I know it and I feel it, because I’ve put in hard work. I’ve trained my butt off for four years … and there’s no better way to start this Olympics off than getting gold.”

Let's try to fire up this feud, shall we? Vote now: Michael Phelps or Ryan Lochte, who would you rather...

In fewer than 140 characters, the 2012 Olympic dreams of Voula Papachristou have been dashed.

Greece's triple-jump champion has actually been removed from her country's national team just days prior to the Opening Ceremony in London because she posted the following Tweet on July 22:

"With so many Africans in Greece .. At least the mosquitoes of West Nile .. will eat homemade food!"

Voula Papachristou Picture

With backlash building and rebuke of this tasteless joke strong, Greece has announced that Papachristou will not compete at the Games due to "statements contrary to the values and ideas of the Olympic movement."

She has since issued her own statement/apology:

I would like to express my heartfelt apologies for the unfortunate and tasteless joke I published on my personal Twitter account. I am very sorry and ashamed for the negative responses I triggered, since I never wanted to offend anyone, or to encroach human rights.

My dream is connected to the Olympic Games and I could not possibly participate if I did not respect their values. Therefore, I could never believe in discrimination between human beings and races.

I would like to apologize to all my friends and fellow athletes, who I may have insulted or shamed, the National Team, as well as the people and companies who support my athletic career. Finally, I would like to apologize to my coach and my family.

Do you think this was a proper punishment for Papachristou?

Adrien Broner defeated Vicente Escobedo by fifth round TKO on Sunday night, improving his record to 24-0.

But the boxer didn't have time to speak with HBO's Max Kellerman about the victory afterward because he had a very important question for girlfriend Arie Nicole.

He got down on one knee, looked his woman in the eyes and proposed... something. Watch for yourself and wonder how Broner didn't end up with a black eye as a result of this stunt:

First, his statue was removed from campus. Now, his name has been removed from the record books.

Following the Jerry Sandusky conviction and the subsequent independent investigation that shed light on just how involved Joe Paterno and Penn State officials were with the cover-up of this monster's sex crimes, the NCAA has come down with a number of punishments.

Among them: the football team must forfeit all victories between 1998-2001, meaning Paterno no longer holds the mark for most victories in Division I history.

The sanctions imposed against Penn State by the NCAA include:

  • A four-year ban on all postseason play.
  • A reduction in scholarships - 20/season - over the course of those four years.
  • A $60 million fine, which "must be paid into an endowment for external programs preventing child sexual abuse or assisting victims and may not be used to fund such programs at the university," according to a NCAA statement.

Said NCAA President Mark Emmert upon doling out these football-related punishments:

"We cannot look to NCAA history to determine how to handle circumstances so disturbing, shocking and disappointing. As the individuals charged with governing college sports, we have a responsibility to act. These events should serve as a call to every single school and athletics department to take an honest look at its campus environment and eradicate the 'sports are king' mindset that can so dramatically cloud the judgment of educators."

Following a scathing report by an unbiased investigator, which implicated Joe Paterno directly in a cover-up that allowed Jerry Sandusky to roam free years after he sexually molested a series of young boys, Penn State officially have taken down the statue of the legendary coach from its campus.

University President Rod Erickson said he reached the decision because the statue "has become a source of division and an obstacle to healing" and would be "a recurring wound" to victims of abuse had it remained.

Despite enormous public pressure for the statue to go, the Paterno family remains in the corner of the former head coach, who died in February of lung cancer.

The removal "does not serve the victims of Jerry Sandusky's horrible crimes or help heal the Penn State community," said the family in a statement, taking issue with the report by former FBI Director Louis Freeh being treated as a legal verdict and adding:

"It is not the University's responsibility to defend or protect Joe Paterno. But they at least should have acknowledged that important legal cases are still pending and that the record on Joe Paterno, the board and other key players is far from complete."

What do YOU think? Should Penn State have taken down the statue?

Dez Bryant, a star wide receiver on the Dallas Cowboys, was arrested over the weekend on charges of misdemeanor assault.

But the details of the alleged incident sounds felonious in our view. Or at least pretty darn messed up.

Dez Bryant Mug Shot

Based on legal documents obtained by TMZ, police were dispatched to the home of Bryant's mother in DeSoto, Texas around 1:47 p.m. on Saturday.

Once there, authorities were told by  Bryant's mother, Angela, that she got into a fight with her son and, as she relayed to the officers:

"My son has assaulted me. He's here now. He won't go home. I keep telling him to go, he won't go... I can't let him keep doing me like this. I'm gonna put an end to it today."

Police said they noticed bruises on Angela's arms. She asserts that Bryant struck her in the face with his baseball cap and ripped her bra when he grabbed her by the shirt.

A Class A misdemeanor of this nature punishable by a fine of up to $4,000 and up to a year in jail.
