A dramatic Sunday night in London ended with one of America's best hopes for a Gold Medal in tears yesterday, as Jordyn Wieber failed to qualify for all-around final in Women's Gymnastics.

The reigning world champion faltered a bit on her vault, beam, bars and floor routines, earning scores below teammates Aly Raisman and Gabrielle Douglas. Only two representatives from each country are permitted to perform in the final round.

Following a scathing report by an unbiased investigator, which implicated Joe Paterno directly in a cover-up that allowed Jerry Sandusky to roam free years after he sexually molested a series of young boys, Penn State officially have taken down the statue of the legendary coach from its campus.

University President Rod Erickson said he reached the decision because the statue "has become a source of division and an obstacle to healing" and would be "a recurring wound" to victims of abuse had it remained.

ESPN reports that the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian has signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets. The 27-year-old power forward averaged career-highs of 13.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game with that club last season.

NBA All-Star Jason Kidd was arrested this morning for DUI this morning in New York State, reportedly for crashing into a telephone pole in the Hamptons.

Kidd was the lone passenger in the accident, which officials say happened around 2:00 a.m. Police described the basketball star as "being intoxicated."

Saudi Arabia will send female athletes to the London Olympics this summer, ending the ultra-conservative Muslim country’s record of not doing so.

The decision, announced Thursday by the IOC, means every country competing in the London games will include women athletes for the first time in history.
