Avid Bengals supporter Nick Lachey admits he got into a heated exchange with a Chargers fan Sunday in San Diego, but denies trying to choke the guy.

A report surfaced earlier this week alleging that the 39-year-old singer not only unleashed a profane tirade at the fan's wife but got physical with him.

Not the case, says Nick, whose rep put out the following statement to quell the rumors:

"This was a verbal exchange between sports fans of opposing teams that went too far."

N.Y. Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has been sidelined by sore ribs and mired on the bench, but the class act reached out Monday to a teen hurting far worse.

Responding to a viral Twitter campaign, Tebow called Matt Hardy, a Shenendehowa (N.Y.) H.S. student hospitalized with injuries suffered in a two-car crash.

In a photo the San Antonio Spurs probably wish didn't leak, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan can be seen at a Halloween party with someone dressed as referee nemesis Joey Crawford.

They are holding their toy guns to “Crawford’s” head.

Given the Spurs' recent controversy - they were fined $250,000 for sitting Duncan, Parker and two other stars against the Heat Thursday - the timing is less than great.

LeBron James enjoyed a ho-hum 2012, winning his first NBA title... his third MVP award... AND an Olympic Gold Medal.

No, it's safe to say the editors of the world's most famous sports magazine didn't exactly have a tough time coming up with the 2012 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year.

Sports Illustratred Sportsman of the Year

"He was the most dominant athlete this year," Paul Fichtenbaum, Editor of Time Inc.'s Sports Group, said of LeBron. "The intangibles [James] brought to the court were significant in leading his teams to victory. He was a selfless player, doing whatever it took to will the Heat and Team USA, making all of his teammates better."

James is the first NBA star to land SI's top honor since his teammate, Dwayne Wade, did so in 2006.

He joins past Sportsman of the Year selections such as Brett Favre, Michael Phelps, Derek Jeter and Drew Brees.

But did he deserve it? Should LeBron have won Sportsman of the Year?

NBC Sports' Bob Costas used his halftime segment during last night's Eagles-Cowboys game to advocate for gun control following the murder-suicide of Jovan Belcher.

The Kansas City Chiefs linebacker killed himself and girlfriend Kasandra Perkins, shocking the NFL world Saturday. Costas weighed in on the tragedy Sunday:

In a segment about 90 seconds long, Costas began by mocking the sports cliche about how "this really puts it all in perspective," then became even more pointed.

He paraphrased and quoted extensively from a piece by Fox Sports' Jason Whitlock:

Jovan Belcher, a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, was at the center of a horrific tragedy this morning.

According to local authorities, Belcher, 25, shot and killed his on-again/off-again girlfriend (Kasandra Perkins, who gave birth to the couple's first child three months ago) in her home around 8 a.m. and then drove to the Arrowhead Stadium complex where the Chiefs play home games.

In front of team personnel (including GM Scott Piloi and Coach Romeo Crennel) who tried to calm him down in the parking lot, Belcher then shot himself in the head.

Chiefs player

Police spokesman Darin Snapp says authorities received a 911 call from the mother of Belcher's victim, alerting them to the incident at her daughter's residence.

Massachusetts bodybuilder Moustafa Ismail, nicknamed the real-life Popeye, has the world's biggest arms - and he insists those things are all-natural.

As natural as anything bolstered by seven pounds of protein, nine pounds of carbohydrates and three gallons of water each day can be, at least.

Skeptics say there must also be steroids or some other artificial means behind Ismail's beyond-bulging biceps and triceps, which measure 31 inches around.

The Guinness World Records is waffling on whether to recognize him.

Michael Jordan may have popularized baggy shorts in the NBA, but he was reportedly banned from an exclusive Miami Beach golf club for not putting them on.

His Airness refused to change out of his cargo pants and got the boot. Seriously.
