A total of 35 hopefuls advanced from Las Vegas on So You Think You Can Dance last night.

But the two-hour episode really boiled down to Alexa Anderson.

The judges initially singled out Alexa - a Season 8 contestant who fell just short of the Top 20 - for not connecting during a routine, with Adam Shankman telling her: "We’re debating putting you through because you are dead... Dance like you want it, honey."

Later on - incredibly! - Anderson tried again and blew the panel away with her emotion and enthusiasm. It was almost as if the show planned out the entire arc!

“This child could win,” Debbie Allen said during Alexa’s solo, while Nigel Lythgoe agreed, telling the now-bubbly blonde: "You’ve got a little star by your name."

So You Think You Can Dance touched down in Salt Lake City, Utah last night - and its auditions were led by a praying mantis and a man with lousy feet.

No, really, that's how Gene Lonardo and Dareian Kujawa described themselves to viewers, as the former was especially focused on giving the judges something unique to consider.

He succeeded, too, as Gene was told by Nigel Lythgoe that he was "intriguing and entertaining" and used "fabulous technique." Watch now to see if you agree:

Kujawa, meanwhile, took the stage and nearly poked someone's eyes out with his nipples. Does this hopeful have a chance at going all the way? Watch his audition below and decide for yourself.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a So You Think You Can Dance winner!

Okay, maybe not. But Eliana Girard made quite the impression on SYTYCD viewers and judges last night, the latter of whom included Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

A former "pole aerialist" for Cirque du Soleil (dubbed a "pole dancing ballerina" by Nigel Lythgoe in a Tweet), Girard combined classical ballet training with the kinds of moves many men only see during bachelor parties. It was a unique, impressive audition and it earned a comparison to Season 8 champ Melanie Moore.

"I already love you so much," said Ferguson. "You have a quality Melanie had last year. She could just draw you in by just being. It was in her pores. You've got it."

Among other impressive SYTYCD auditions so far: Shafeek Westbrook and Bree Hafen.

So, a bunch of people think they can dance.

This popular summer competition kicked (and spun and flipped) off on Fox last night with a two-hour premiere, as judges and viewers were treated to a number of talented acts. Foremost among them?

Shafeek Westbrook, a 22-year break dancer from North Philadelphia who combined classic moves with a contemporary, interpretive flow that earned Shafeek a standing ovation.

"A friend of mine died in 9/11," Westbrook said. "My dance was supposed to be him climbing out of the rubble of the World Trade Center."

So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy, 54, has spoken candidly before about her troubled past. Now her ex-manager, Michael Sanchez, who's suing her for stiffing him on commissions, is doing the same, and then some.

Sanchez, who managed Murphy from 2006-2010 and is seeking $1 million, says she lived a dangerous life fueled by coke and "many inappropriate sexual relationships with So You Think You Can Dance and Chelsea Lately crew members."

Sanchez, who worked with Murphy for four years before she fired him back in '10, also claimed that the TV star fell into a bad downward spiral.

She became "increasingly self-absorbed, childish and demanding" over the years, with only Sanchez keeping her from an absolute meltdown.

Sanchez claims he once busted in to her apartment when she was unresponsive, high on drugs and in bed with a SYTYCD producer. Nice.

He also claims that the judge would often violate FOX rules and U.S. game show laws by secretly coaching contestants behind the scenes.

Oh, and she would be drunk on set during LIVE tapings and hide her booze in a Coke cup. It's not a pretty picture he's painting right here.

Melanie Moore was prepared to come in second.

"In my head I really thought Sasha was going to win," the So You Think You Can Dance champion told reporters after she was crowned last night. "Just being up there and being named one of the final two I was like, 'Wait, is this really happening?' I just started crying."

In fact, all Moore could muster on stage was a "thank you" in between tears. But she had more to tell reporters after the finale aired.

Saying she hopes to use the $250,000 to "go back to school," the 19-year old was also excited about one particular aspect of the competition being over:

Katie Holmes and Kenny Ortega joined So You Think You Can Dance judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy this week, as the final four took to the stage four times each - and it showed in a few sloppy results.

Marko & Melanie - Disco (Doriana Sanchez) - It's been a long time since there was a disco and I'm happy that Doriana hasn't stopped putting insane lifts in her routines. There was something unsexy about Melanie; she needed to let loose. She was worried about the lifts. There was something awkward when the two dancers went between lifts and placing Melanie down. The high amounts of color and sparkles covered up the mistakes. My Grade: B-

Tadd Gadduang and Joshua Allen

Sasha & Mark - Jazz (Sonya Tayeh) - The dance was an ode to Sasha; how she would overcome obstacles. Sasha was lucky to get a catered routine. As much as Mark is my favorite dancer, Sonya made sure that he was Sasha's accessory; Mark made sure that Sasha looked perfect in every scene. My Grade: B+

Tadd & Joshua - Hip-Hop (Lil' C), pictured - The dance was supposed to be about being a hustler, but Tadd looked too nice. The routine had strong choreography, but there were moments where Josh looked behind in timing. I was worried that Tadd would trip over his shoe, but it never fell off. I liked the floor gliding motions at the end, but there was nothing captivating overall. My Grade: C+

We're down to the final four on So You Think You Can Dance. Let's take a look back on the results show that just aired...

Group Dance - Contemporary (Justin Giles) - The huge flower was an interesting prop and because there are six dancers left, it was nice seeing the six as couples for so long circling around the flower. This also showed that the dancers worked well in a lot of different combinations. The ending with the petals falling was beautiful.

Caitlynn Lawson and Ricky Jaime

Sasha - The judges threw the term "fierce" around for Sasha but she executed a routine that defended why she’s so fierce. Sasha managed to place several hip-hop styled moves into her contemporary ones. She even did a vogue drop.
