Shannen Doherty: Then vs. Now

When comparing photos of Zac Efron from then and now, not much has changed. The actor is always adorable, always the object of every teenage girl's affection.

The years haven't exactly been as kind to Shannen Doherty.

The actress, who returns to 90210 tomorrow night after a few weeks away, hasn't aged gracefully.

She may still portray Brenda Walsh on the small screen, but as these contrasting pictures of Doherty prove, Dylan McKay made the right long-term decision when he chose Kelly Taylor...

And Now, a Word from Scott Baio and Shannen Doherty...

We interrupt your regularly scheduled celebrity gossip updates to bring you words of wisdom from two actors that haven't been heard from in years:

Shannen Doherty and Scott Baio.

The former Charles in Charge star and Arrested Development guest star was promoting his new reality show - Scott Baio Is 45 ... and Single - at an LG Mobile Phones event in Hollywood on Tuesday.

And he talked to People magazine about the recent struggles of a few young celebrities in today's culture.

Shannen Doherty, Scott Baio "You have to have a good family behind you. And you have to save your money," Baio said, hoping that Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears were listening to this profound advice.

Meanwhile, if there's anything the former child actor knows more than surviving in Hollywood, it's bedding a slew of gorgeous women. Seriously. The dude's ex-girlfriends include Pamela Anderson, Heather Locklear and Denise Richards.

Baio says he avoided the pitfalls of fame because "my family was square and didn't care who I was, and honestly, I got lucky. I worked with [Happy Days producer] Garry Marshal for 10 years and he was a great guy. The show was fantastic, and nobody did drugs. Everybody on that show saved their money and did the right thing."

Heck, in today's society, even someone has little known as Paul Sculfor takes drugs. What chance do real stars have?

And then there's Shannen Doherty. The former Beverly Hills 90210 star has a different take. As well as no earthly reason to still be in the news.

"It's totally different [today]," she said. "[The attention] is to an extreme now that I can't relate to. My heart goes out to all of them and I certainly hope that they keep their heads up and most importantly they keep their self-respect."

We'd be satisfied at this point if they just kept their legs shut when getting out of a car.

Reporter Angers Shannen Doherty, Feels 90210-ers Wrath!

We doubt Tori Spelling speaks very much with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 mate, Shannen Doherty. But the pair could probably swap stories now about other people sucking.

Doherty has Matured

For Tori, that would include her mom. For Shannen, Nicki Gostin of Newsweek would be on her list. The reporter angered Doherty during a recent interview. In Shannen's defense, though, the supposed witch remained calm, avoiding any Mel Gibson-like outbursts.

Here's the excerpt:

Hi, Shannen, how are you?
Shannen Doherty: I'm good, thank you. I'm unpacking from New York. I can't stand unpacking.

Can't you get your maid to do it?
SD: No! I'm a normal person. My housekeeper has better things to do.

Tell me about your new show.
SD: [In Breaking up with Shannen Doherty] I help relationships come to an end or sometimes help them go to the next level. It can be boyfriend or girlfriend, or if you want to quit your job.

Haven't you had some bad breakups? You tried to run over a boyfriend a long time ago, right?
SD: No, and if that's the way you're going with this then I'd rather not even do the interview.

I just think it's funny.
SD: I am not going to have things rehashed from 15 years ago. I'm not going to combat lies. I can already tell what's going to be in your article.

Butâ€"
SD: Let me hang up and call my publicist and then we'll reconvene, because I'm not going down this path.

Wow. Calm, mature, level-headed. Maybe Lauren Conrad could learn a thing or two about how to deal with break-ups from a former spoiled actress.
