Shakira and Boyfriend Delay Marriage Plans

Maybe The Hollywood Gossip still has a chance.

According to the former president of Argentina, his son and Shakira have talked about marriage, but aren't in any rush to walk down the aisle.

Former President Fernando de la Rua told Dominican newspaper, Listin Diario, that the hip-shaking international superstar and his son, Antonio, have discussed raising a family, but have no immediate plans to tie the knot.

She's Holding Off

"They prefer to wait," de la Rua said. "Kids today would rather live as a couple, they don't believe that marriage is necessary to be happy."

Hey, Alison Clinton does! You can read her website and see how content she and Chris are.

The singer, who De la Rua referred to as a "lover of peace," and Antonio have been dating for five years.

He's probably seen her hips up close; meanwhile, we're stuck with these Shakira pictures.

"Shakira is a very good woman, she is very loving to her parents and with her in-laws as well," the ex-president said.

The Colombian artist is on tour with her most recent release, "Oral Fixation," and plans to play in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and her native country in coming weeks.

We love her.

Shakira's Hips, Wings Most Certainly Do Not Lie

No, they don't. And neither do those hips. Oh no, those things are oh-so-truthful. And can they dance! Here, Colombian singer Shakira takes flight during a special performance, kicking off the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America in Mexico City on Thursday.

Shake it, Shakira

Not surprisingly, since she is so much cooler than everyone else, won song of the year for her hit single, "Hips Don't Lie." Mexican Julieta Venegas, British pop singer Robbie Williams and the Mexican bands Manna and Panda won in other categories.

Jennifer Lopez did not win. We're not even sure she was nominated. But man, is she annoying. Some celebs just don't go away. Speaking of which, Kevin Federline was also a huge loser. Not just at this event, but in life. Every single day. All the time.

Shakira Shakes Hips, Wins Awards, Donates to Charity

Politicians love Shakira.

Soon, exiled children in Colombia will, as well.

The hip-shaking beauty will donate proceeds from a concert in her hometown to build an arts school for 1,800 children forced to flee their homes by Colombia's civil war.

Shakira, Shakira! The concert, part of her worldwide Oral Fixation tour, will held Nov. 15 in the Caribbean port city of Barranquilla. It's being billed as a festive homecoming for the international superstar, who last month was nominated for five Latin Grammy awards.

That's about the same number of men's jaws that break every day from dropping over Shakira pictures.

The English and Spanish bilingual school will bear the name of Shakira's Pies Descalzos (Spanish for "Bare Feet") foundation and have an emphasis on arts education, the foundation said Thursday in a statement.

The school will be located in La Playa, a poor suburb of Barranquilla where 45 percent of the residents are minors, only about half of whom attend school.

It's nice to see celebrities donate to charity, isn't it? Shakira focuses on schools, Jake Gyllenhaal offers his pants. There's something for everybody, really.

Meanwhile, in Mexico, the singer won five prizes at Premios Oye!, a Mexican music award ceremony hosted Thursday. Top among them was Song of the Year for "Hips Don't Lie."

Following the naming of Scarlett Johansson as the Sexiest Woman Alive, we'd say the people in charge of awards are on top of their games this week.

New 'Do for Jessica; Rockin Outfits for Fergie, Shakira at Video Music Awards

Quick, who won the award for Best Rap Video at the MTV Video Music Awards this past week? No one remembers. Those moon men are forgotten about almost instantly.

But the celebrity fashion remains seared in our minds forever. Or at least a few days. Especially when the stars in question are looking at hot as Shakira and Fergie, below.

Shakira and Fergie

Then there was Jessica Simpson. Apparently she's undergoing some changes in her life. There's rumored to be a new man - John Mayer - and definitely a new hair style. What do you guys think of it?

A New Do

NYC Mayor Throws Support to Shakira, Honest Hips

This is unusual: a politician is supporting the truth.

Zing!

Perhaps New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is trying to set a new trend in Washington, as he's throw his MTV Video Music Award support behind Shakira.

Shakira

Bloomberg, who uses his iPod mostly for studying Spanish, made a powerful endorsement on Tuesday when he backed the Colombian pop star in the race for Video of the Year.

Even though Christina Aguilera, another finalist for the award, hails from Staten Island - and sings a jazzy, catchy tune in "Ain't No Other Man" - the mayor was simply mesmerized by Shakira's hips.

Yeah. He may not be alone in that stance.

In a taped spot that aired on MTV's "Total Request Live" yesterday, Bloomberg defended his choice by noting the truth in the title of Shakira's smash single "Hips Don't Lie:"

"I think I'm going to have to go with Shakira - those hips don't lie," Bloomberg said.

More profound words have rarely been spoken.

While the mayor did not offer other views, it's safe to assume he backs Lindsay Lohan for Most Annoying and would belt out a loud "NO!" when asked if Suri Cruise were, indeed, real.

The Top 19 Songs In Cyberspace

The other day, while sitting in the T.H. Gossip headquarters and listening to Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" for the 847th time , it occurred to us that we might as well buy the damn thing. Well, we were astonished to discover that no fewer than 15 songs are currently outpacing our Colombian princess on iTunes' most downloaded list. Which gave us the idea to tell our readers what those songs are.

Below, you'll find the Top 19 most downloaded songs on iTunes as of right this minute. Some you will definitely expect. Others will surprise you. Shakira and Her Hips Lead MTV Video Music Award Nominations

Check, Please! Not only don't her hips lie, they get nominated for awards! Proving that sexy and catchy really do garner popularity (who knew?), Shakira led the list of nominees for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers tied the Brazillian bombshell with seven noms for their song, "Dani California." It will go up against the hips of Shakira, "Ain't No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera, Madonna's "Hung Up" and Panic! At The Disco's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" for video of the year.

Other categories and award battles include:

  • Shakira and Aguilera are also in the running for best female video. They'll face off against Kelly Clarkson ("Because of You"), Nelly Furtado ("Promiscuous") and Madonna â€" whose "Hung Up" is also in the running for best dance video, best pop video and best choreography.
  • Best male video nominations are: Nick Lachey for "What's Left of Me," James Blunt's "You're Beautiful," Kanye West's "Gold Digger" (the new, official ballad of Heather Mills), T.I.'s "What You Know" and Busta Rhymes's "Touch It Remix."
  • Best group video contenders are the Chili Peppers, Panic! At the Disco, the All-American Rejects ("Move Along"), Fall Out Boy ("Dance, Dance") and Gnarls Barkley ("Crazy").

The MTV Awards will air live at 8 p.m. ET on Aug. 31. Tune in to see performances by Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Panic! At The Disco, the Killers and rappers T.I. and Ludacris.

World Cup Final to Feature France, Italy, Shakira's Hips

Sunday's World Cup final between Italy and France in Berlin, Germany, will be more than a match to decide the world's best football team. It will be a party, a celebration for all the citizens of our planet to revel in.

"We don't want a rigid, serious ceremony but instead want to show that Germany is a country where you can dance and celebrate," said Dieter Brell, the man who developed the concept of the World Cup's closing ceremony. "I think it's time to ignite that flame."

As the quadrennial tournament concludes, Colombian pop singer Shakira will perform her hit "Hips Don't Lie" during an 11-minute long ceremony while veteran group Il Divo sings the official World Cup anthem, "The Time of Our Lives."

Because no activity is permitted on the pitch (what those crazy Europeans call a field) prior to the match itself, Shakira's gyrating will occur on the terrace at the Marathon Gate end of the Olympic stadium. Around 400 actors will be on hand masquerading around the stage as a wild horde of fans to help increase the atmosphere in the stadium.

Shakira can't get the fans excited on her own? We beg to differ. Those hips -- and the Gossip -- most certainly do not lie or stretch the truth.

We're Not Gonna Lie to You

Oh yeah, that's real nice. Her performance will be choreographed by Doug Jack, the man responsible for the closing ceremony at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, earlier this year. Apart from Shakira, famed Spanish tenor Placido Domingo will take the stage at halftime for a performance of "Willkommen bei uns", a song written by his son, Placido Domingo, Jr.

The unhealthy opera star and avid football fan has attended every World Cup final since 1982.
