Regis Philbin has been out for awhile. Will Seth Meyers soon be in?

Showbiz 411 reports that the Saturday Night Live star is the leading contender to fill the permanent co-hosting seat alongside Kelly Ripa each morning, as he'll kick off a week of guest-hosting Monday - in the middle of July Sweeps - that may determine the funny man's fate.

If Meyes does land the gig, he would continue to anchor Weekend Update, but would resign as lead writer on SNL.

The other possible candidates for this coveted position are former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and singer Josh Groban.

Now, according to The National Enquirer, homemaking maven Martha Stewart is the latest to benefit from this comedian's sense of humor.

That tabloid claims the seemingly mismatched pair are a couple, as "Seth has been on Martha’s TV show four times and they’ve grown to like each other a lot." Moreover, a source says Stewart "needs to laugh" these days.

After poking fun at himself and various Republicans, Obama seemed to delight in laying into the Donald (who was there) for what felt like an eternity.

Regardless of your political leanings, you gotta admit he killed it:

Following our 44th President, host Seth Meyers took to the podium and went off on all things cable news, birth certificates, and of course, Donald Trump.

Watch Seth's effort - and read Trump's response to being the butt of so many jokes (spoiler alert: he was not exactly pleased) - after the jump:
