Selena Gomez is a busy woman.

She sings, she acts, she's an ambassador for UNICEF.

Now, she's also a fashion designer, as Gomez has announced her own clothing line, titled "Dream Out Loud." Said Selena:

"It’s really always been a dream of mine to have a line... With my line, I really want to give the customer options on how they can put their own looks together... I want the pieces that can be easy to dress up or down, and the fabrics being eco-friendly and organic are super important."

Overall, Selena says she's "just looking to send a good message.” The line will officially launch in the fall of 2010.

We had a perfectly nice Friday night at The Hollywood Gossip this week.

Following a few days of hard work, we kicked back and watched the Yankees defeat the Red Sox in a game that featured a mammoth home run by Kate Hudson's boy toy, Alex Rodriguez.

But we wish we'd have been at MILK Studios in Los Angeles instead.

A slew of today's hottest young stars showed up there for the 2009 Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party. Among them: Taylor Lautner, Selena Gomez, Miranda Cosgrove and Ashley Tisdale.

Miley Cyrus has spent her summer Tweeting and possibly stealing Liam Hemsworth from another woman.

Conversely, fellow Disney star Selena Gomez has been getting so heavily involved in charitable endeavors that she's been appointed the youngest Ambassador ever for UNICEF, a worldwide organization that focuses on underprivileged children.

"Every day 25,000 children die from preventable causes," said Gomez. "I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero. I know we can achieve this because every moment UNICEF is on the ground providing children with the lifesaving assistance needed to ensure zero becomes a reality."

The Wizards of Waverly Place star isn't all talk, either:

She's heading off to Ghana this week on her first official field-mission for UNICEF. Said Caryl Stern, CEO of the company:

"We're very pleased to have Selena join the UNICEF family, as a long time supporter, she will continue to capture and engage and audience of millions of young people to help ensure the health, education, equality and protection of every child."

Miley, meanwhile, will continue to Tweet about eating too much ice cream and wanting to be cuddled.

You have to sort of hand it to Miley Cyrus: in the video below, she's directing attention to a cause that isn't 100% about herself. That's a big step for the egomaniacal superstar.

Cyrus has teamed with fellow teen icons the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato on the song "Send It On."

The single is meant to unite these stars and their fans in calling attention to the environment while also lining the pockets of Disney executives.

As key parts in Disney’s Friends for Change: Project Green - an effort to alert viewers on the best ways to protect the planet - Miley, Nick, Kevin, Joe, Selena and Demi are modeling themselves after the celebrities involved in the 1985 "We are the World" campaign, a song written by Michael Jackson that benefited African famine relief.

Both projects may have good intentions, but both are incredibly high on the unintentional comedy scale. Just try to keep a straight face when the camera zooms in on Nick Jonas below:

Kristen Stewart appeared to have a message on the Teen Choice Awards' red carpet last night: hands off!!!

The Twilight Saga star wore a dress with spikes - yes, actual spikes - as she posed for photographs. Was she sending everyone a message? I'm the property of Robert Pattinson. Stay away!

In April, the pair of young stars were both in Vancouver shooting movies. They were spotted together, looking mighty cozy and friendly, on numerous occasions.

Singer and actress Selena Gomez wants to take on new role: matchmaker!

The 16-year-old starlet is trying to set up her BFF, Taylor Swift.

Her target? Pal and fellow musician Jonathan Cook.

Her plan is already coming together. Gomez already introduced the country crooner and the Forever the Sickest Kids frontman via iChat - and it's working!

Calling Swift his "celebrity crush," Cook gushed: "She is gorgeous... She is an amazing songwriter, and I can relate to her not only as a musician but also as a writer."

"Plus, she seems so down-to-earth, I always root for her as a fan!"

Will Jonathan Cook and Taylor Swift date thanks to Selena Gomez?

We root for her too. Anyone who's seen Swift and T-Pain in their "thug story" video knows she has a sense of humor to match her considerable talent.

Selena Gomez, who is featured on the Forever the Sickest Kids' track "Whoa Oh," doesn't go easy on Jonathan Cook in the romance department.

"Selena suggests girls for me to date," Cook said, adding that as a caveat, "she has told me she has to approve of any girls that I date."

As for any reverse matchmaking opportunities he has planed?

"I've suggested that she date Shia LeBeouf," Cook said.

It's out with the long and in with the short for Selena Gomez.

The young star has finally given fans something to talk about aside from those pesky rumors that she's dating Taylor Lautner.

Over the weekend, The Wizards of Waverly Place actress showed off a new, shorter, bob-like hairstyle at the Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival in Los Angeles, an event that benefits the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

When asked about dating Lautner, Gomez told Extra:

"He's one of my good friends. I'm single. Definitely single."

First, the young Disney star has posted a new MySpace blog entry, in which she discusses a Web series she's filming titled Under Pressure. It will chronicle the making of her debut album, which she plans to release in September.

"I am filming my journey through this so you can see how hard I am working to do my best," writes Gomez. "I am going through change, growth and failure just like everyone else, except mine is open for public scrutiny. Not everything you try in life is a major success."

Over the last few weeks, life has been good for the Disney Channel actress:

Her TV show has been picked up for a third season, and she's been filming the movie Beezus and Ramona in Vancouver, which is where she's reportedly been flirting heavily with Taylor Lautner.

Gomez didn't mention the Twilight hunk in her blog, but she doesn't have. Recent photos of Taylena pretty much speak for themselves.
