The Sex and the City movie sequel is slated for a May 28, 2010 release.

But New York City onlookers were taken back to the 1980s this week, as shooting on the film got underway and two of its main stars were spotted in hairstyles neither would be caught dead in these days.

Indeed, Sarah Jessica Parker (as Carrie Bradshaw) and Kim Cattrall (as Samantha Jones) wandered around NYC in outfits that would make Lady GaGa blush. Check out the actresses below:

While we aren't privy to any inside information regarding these outfits, a few Sex and the City spoilers have been leaked online. Among other developments, they reveal that Carrie and Big will be victims of the economic downturn; and Samantha will return to an ex.

After nine long months and a possible extortion plot, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are safe at home with the two new additions to their family.

The proud parents and the twins, born via surrogate at East Ohio Regional Hospital, were joined by the couple’s adorable son James Wilkie Broderick, 6 1/2.

The surrogate mother helping Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick expand their brood gave birth to twin daughters today, according to reports.

Sources tell 7 News in Martins Ferry, Ohio, that Parker and Broderick are at the hospital with the surrogate, who was recently the target of extortion.

Parker and Broderick are expected to make some type of announcement before leaving the hospital. Officially, the hospital has no comment at this time.

Security at the hospital is tight, with additional guards brought in and even more on standby, if needed, as the story is expected to get major attention.

The pair first announced they were expecting twins in April.

The new twin girls join the couple's biological son, James.

All of this comes on the heels of an investigation centering on the Martins Ferry Police Chief and nearby Chief Chad Dojack who allegedly conspired to break into the home owned by Parker and Broderick's surrogate mother for reasons unknown.

The criminal investigation into that incident is ongoing.

Police chiefs from two neighboring, eastern Ohio towns are being investigated after allegedly planning a break-in at the home of the surrogate who is carrying the twin daughters of actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

According to a local Ohio TV station, officials are investigating whether officers from the adjoining towns of Martins Ferry and Bridgeport, Oh., masterminded a burglary in order to gather info they could then sell to a celebrity gossip publication.

"I'm 100 percent innocent in this and my department is as well," Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter told TV station WTOV in Steubenville.

Carpenter and the other officer reportedly under investigation, Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack, remain on the job as the probe continues.

The alleged plot is the latest incident in a highly scrutinized pregnancy, which Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick announced at the end of April.

Last month, Sarah Jessica Parker said she is concerned about the health of the surrogate mother because of the intense media attention now focused on her.

Parker also said Matthew Broderick is furious about the situation that has potentially put the woman expecting twins on behalf of the stars in jeopardy.

"Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system," his publicist said.

"But because it's a criminal investigation, we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer."

The evening before the exciting gossip broke that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are officially expecting twin girls via a surrogate mother, the actress sure looked like a mom-to-be: glowing and forgoing those famous cosmos.

"She was in such a great mood, so sweet to everyone and so happy," says a guest who attended the party at 675 Bar for Broderick's film, Wonderful World.

"They were tucked into a corner throughout the night. He drank martinis and she drank water. They were really loving and adoring. She did look beautiful."

The actress has been ready for more children for a long time.

"They've always wanted to become parents again," says a source who has known the couple for years. "They realized after the first or second year after [son James Wilkie, now six] was born that it would be nice to have another baby."

While "they've always talked about [more] kids, it just wasn't happening," says a pal, as Parker "had difficulty getting pregnant. So they went the surrogate route."

Friends say the couple just loves being parents.

"They are great parents," says a source. "They have a good time with their son. Matthew is very hands-on. He loves to get on the floor and play with James. He's a kid himself so he loves to act like one. And James, of course, loves it."

So how is Sarah Jessica Parker preparing for two baby girls? This week, she stepped out to do a little shopping at the Manhattan toy store, Kidding Around.

Well that's one way to put divorce rumors to rest.

Instead of going their separate ways, as has been whispered for weeks, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are pooling their DNA yet again.

"The entire family is overjoyed. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate," the actors' publicists said in a statement.

Sarah Jessica Parker, 44, and Matthew Broderick, 47, who also have a son, 6-year-old James Wilkie, had been trying unsuccessfully to expand their brood.

"At a certain point, they were presented with an alternative," an E! source says.

"They could have kept trying on their own, but they have always wanted to have more children and ultimately felt this was the best way to go."

Parker plans to take some time off after the twins' arrival - but not much. She intends to start shooting the Sex and the City sequel sometime this summer.

Broderick was rumored to have cheated on Parker last summer, sparking a long string of rumors that the long-married couple was on the verge of a split.

It is apparently being reported - thankfully by no one reputable - that Sarah Jessica Parker is keen to cast Britney Spears in the Sex and The City movie sequel.

The actress for some reason thinks the "Womanizer" singer would be perfect in the eagerly anticipated sequel to last year’s hit film, says Heat magazine.

Britney Spears, who appeared on CBS' stunt casting-crazed How I Met Your Mother last year, would play a young relative of SJP’s character, Carrie Bradshaw.

Sarah Jessica Parker told friends: “My idea is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece and Carrie would show her the ropes.”

For Sarah Jessica Parker, putting Britney Spears in the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel would be a worse idea than putting on that hat.

This wouldn’t be the first time Britney Spears has been on the big screen. The 27-year-old singer appeared in the chick flick Crossroads seven years ago.
