Tim Wilson, a Southern-based comedian best known for incorporating NASCAR into his routines, has died. He passed away from a heart attack at the age of 52.

The Columbus, Ga., native was both a comic and a country music artist who co-wrote the Jeff Foxworthy hit song, "Redneck 12 Days of Christmas."

One of Wilson’s most famous comedy performances was “The NASCAR Song”:

The track was about a kid born in the Talladega grandstands and named “Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvan Gordon Earnhardt Smith Johnson, Jr.”

The satire became a cult hit with fans of racing, comedy and country music.

He also penned a song about Jeff Gordon's rivalry with Dale Earnhardt fans.

Comedian Larry The Cable Guy tweeted about Wilson’s death Wednesday:

"Horrible news. Comedian Tim Wilson passed away tonight. I hope you were one of the lucky ones that got to see him preform. One of the best."

"Tim was a mentor and friend to a lot of us comedians that started in the south, Him, Foxworthy and James Gregory. One of the big 3. Hat off."
