Roger Ebert, a movie critic whose sharp wit and depth of knowledge delighted millions of readers and viewers, has died of cancer at the age of 70.

Ebert, who reviewed films for the Chicago Sun-Times for 46 years and on TV for 31 years, was America’s most prominent and influential critic.

He had been in poor health for years, battling cancers of the thyroid and salivary gland. He lost part of his lower jaw in 2006, and with it the ability to speak or eat.

That calamity that would have driven other men from the public eye, but Ebert refused to hide, instead forging what became a new chapter in his career.

The actor reportedly passed away Tuesday after suffering a stroke.

Jesus "Jess" Franco is best known for creating a new type of genre within the Spanish horror film industry, and for having huge influence on the industry even today.

Franco's famous works include cult horror classics such as The Awful Dr. Orloff, Vampyros Lesbos, and The Mansion of the Living Dead, among otherrs.

Jane Henson, the widow of Jim Henson who helped her late husband create The Muppets, passed away yesterday at her home in Connecticut. She sas 78.

The Jim Henson Legacy, an organization created by Jane in 1992 to help preserve Jim's artistic vision, announced the sad news of Jane's passing last night.

It confirmed that she had been battling cancer.

Jack Pardee, a Texas A&M football star who went on to become both an All-Pro linebacker and an NFL coach, died Monday at the age of 76.

In November, Pardee's family announced that he had gall bladder cancer that had spread to other organs and that he had six to nine months to live.

The family has established a memorial scholarship fund in Pardee's name at the University of Houston, where Pardee coached from 1987-89.

Phil Ramone, the famed record producer who worked with a who's who of music industry legends, has died from complications of pneumonia. He was 79.

Ramone, who shepherded some of the greats - Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand - throughout their careers, began as a sound engineer.

Soon, he made the move to producing, and the music world was never the same.

Over a 50-year career, Ramone won 14 Grammy Awards and one lifetime achievement Grammy while supervising production on a slew of legendary albums.

Shain Gandee, the star of MTV's Buckwild, was found dead this morning in West Virginia.

He was reported missing after telling folks around 3 a.m. Sunday that he was going four-wheeling with his uncle, David, with authorities confirming this morning that Shain and two others were discovered in the vehicle in Sissonville, W.V.

Shain was 21 years old. The whereabouts of David Gandee are unknown at this time.

Elwin Wilson, a former Ku Klux Klan supporter who publicly apologized later in life for his violence and racism, has died at the age of 76 in South Carolina.

His wife, Judy Wilson, told the Associated Press that her husband was relieved he lived long enough to try to make amends for years of racial hatred.

He detailed his deeds at length when he called The Herald of Rock Hill to apologize shortly after President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.

Anthony Lewis, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and a columnist for The New York Times, has passed away from complications related to Parkinson's disease. He was 85.

Lewis championed such causes as free speech, human rights and constitutional law during 32 years of writing for the aforementioned newspaper.

He won his first Pulitzer in 1955 for defending an innocent Navy civilian accused of sympathizing with Communists; and his second in 1963 for reporting on The Supreme Court.

Joe Weider, a child of the Great Depression who built a bodybuilding empire, has died at the age of 93. The cause was heart failure, said his publicist.

Weider grew an empire of magazines, fitness equipment, doubtful dietary supplements and Olympic-style contests featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

As a teenager in Montreal, he hated being roughed up by neighborhood hooligans, discovered bodybuilding in a magazine and bought into it for life.

He developed a V-shaped torso with bulging biceps and abs like Michelangelo’s David, and was still ripped and jut-jawed in his 70s and 80s.
