Jason Molina, a singer/songwriter most famous for his work with Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co., has passed away. He was 39 years old.

As first reported by Chunklet, Molina died of organ failure brought on by many years of drinking.

The star's label, Secretly Canadian, confirmed the news - though not the cause of death - via the following Tweet:

"Our friend Jason Molina passed away from natural causes on Saturday, March 16th in Indianapolis."

Steve Davis, the quarterback of two national championship football teams at the University of Oklahoma, has died in a plane crash at the age of 60.

Davis, 60, and Wesley Caves, 58, died yesterday when their twin-jet plane crashed into a house in South Bend, Indiana, the Associated Press reported.

The cause of the crash is unknown. Pete Moris, a spokesman for Oklahoma football, confirmed Davis’s death and said the school plans to issue a statement.

Former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr has died from multiple sclerosis.

He was 56 years old. Steve Harris, the heavy metal band's founder and bass player, said upon hearing of Burr's death that it was "terribly sad news."

"He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out."

Burr joined Iron Maiden in 1979 and played on their first three albums.

Peter Banks, the guitarist for the band Yes, has died at the age of 65.

A statement on Banks' website that he passed away on March 7 and was found in his London home after he failed to show up for a recording session.

Widely considered a pioneer of progressive rock guitar, his loss was mourned in a statement by fellow band members from Yes, which was formed in 1968.

"We are all deeply saddened to learn about the passing of fellow bandmate and founding Yes member, Peter Banks," the group statement said.

Alvin Lee, a British guitarist who lit up Woodstock with a monumental 11-minute version of his song "I'm Going Home," has died, according to his website.

He passed away Wednesday at age 68.


A note signed by Lee's daughter, Jasmin and wife, Evi, reads:

"With great sadness, we have to announce that Alvin unexpectedly passed away early this morning after unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure."

Marion Adams - a multimedia teacher and track and field coach at Rio Londa High School in California - died this week in a terrifying bicycle accident, reports The Sacramento Bee.

The 59-year old was riding away from practice on Monday when he looked over his shoulder to bid farewell to a student.

Tragically, Adams therefore failed to see a partially opened metal gate in the school parking lot and could not slow down in time to avoid it.

He was impaled on the structure, rushed to Mercy San Juan Hospital and initially survived two surgeries to treat internal injuries before passing away.

The WWE lost one of its iconic former managers last night.

Paul Bearer, the man who was by The Undertaker's side throughout a bulk of that veteran wrestler's career, passed away yesterday from health problems related to his obesity, sources confirm to TMZ. He was 58.

Hugo Chavez, the firebrand President of Venezuela, has died at the age of 58.

Unlike last week's erroneous reports of his demise, this time it's the real deal.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro, who reported that Chavez was battling for life earlier this week, confirmed that he lost the battle about 45 minutes ago.

Maduro said that Hugo Chavez died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday.

"We must unite now more than ever," said Maduro, fighting back tears and flanked by cabinet ministers, calling on Venezuelans to remain "peaceful and respectful."
