James Gandolfini died earlier today in Italy, according to reports. The Sopranos star is believed to have suffered a heart attack, and was just 51 years old.

Deadline was the first source to report Gandolfini's death.

He was in Italy to attend the 59th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, and was scheduled to appear in an event this weekend with director Gabriele Muccino.

"Everyone is in tears," a N.Y. Daily News source said.

Vince Flynn, the prolific and best-selling author of many political thriller novels, has died.

He succumbed to prostate cancer after a two-year battle. Flynn was just 47 years old.

Flynn announced in 2011 that he was fighting Stage 3 metastatic prostate cancer.

A statement from Flynn's publisher, Simon & Schuster, Inc., said he died Wednesday.

Flynn self-published his first book, Term Limits, in 1997, then got a publishing deal.

Term Limits became a New York Times bestseller, as did other works of his, many centering around the character Mitch Rapp, a counterterrorism operative.

Michael Hastings, an acclaimed young journalist, has died in a car accident. The Vermont native was just 33 years old when he passed away Tuesday.

He was widely known for a profile in Rolling Stone magazine, which reported his death, of a general who commanded U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

"We are shocked and devastated by the news that Michael Hastings is gone," said Ben Smith, editor in chief of BuzzFeed, for whom he also wrote.

"Michael was a great, fearless journalist with an incredible instinct for the story, and a gift for finding ways to make his readers care about anything he covered."

"From wars to politics, he wrote stories that would otherwise have gone unwritten, and without him there are many great stories that will go untold."

Jason Leffler died Wednesday night following a crash in a 410 Sprint Cup car race at Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey. He was 37 years old.

Leffler passed away shortly after 9 p.m., N.J. State Police said. He had to be extricated from the car after striking a wall half an hour earlier.

Leffler's car hit the wall twice and "then it was flopping all over," a witness said.

He was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, and pronounced dead.

Suraj Pancholi, the boyfriend of Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, has been arrested on suspicion of abetting her suicide, according to The Times of India.

Pancholi, the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was taken into custody by police in Mumbai, India following Khan's death.

Pancholi was not present at the time Khan hanged herself at her Mumbai home last week, officials say, however some believe he had a hand in it.

The late star's mother accused him of abusing Khan after she left a six-page suicide note accusing an unidentified individual of "ruining her life."

Ian Bain, a versatile Scottish writer who found success in multiple genres, passed away early yesterday morning from cancer. He was 59 years old.

Due to his diagnosis, the author announced two months ago that "The Quarry" would be his final novel, and his wife confirmed online yesterday that Bain's passing "was calm and without pain."

Richard Ramirez - the convicted killer nicknamed The Night Stalker, who engaged in a murder/rape spree throughout Los Angeles in the 1980s - was found dead in prison today.

The 53-year old murdered at least 13 people by climbing through the windows in their homes, while also attempting to kill five others and sexually assaulting a minimum of 11 victims.

He was found guilty and sentenced to death in 1989 and has been on San Quentin's death row ever since.

In a sad and unexpected story, the self-help couple and hosts of the radio show "The Pursuit of Happiness" Lynne Rosen and John Littig have been found dead in their apartment in Park Slope, Brooklyn, from an apparent double suicide.

The pair were found suffocated, with plastic bags tied over their heads.

Outside their radio show, Rosen, 46, was a psychotherapist and Littig, 48, was a musician.

The irony of their death is apparent, as they taught their listeners things like, "It's always too early to quit." This story is still tragic, nonetheless.

Very sad news today out of Bollywood:

Jiah Khan, a 25-year old star of Indian cinema, was found dead by her mother last night, having apparently killed herself via hanging.

There was no suicide note found at the scene, but Mumbai officials tell Reuters that foul play is not suspected, though they plan to interview the last person to whom Khan spoke on the phone.
