Rocker Rick Springfield was apparently arrested today near Los Angeles after he missed a court date - one that he allegedly didn't know he even had.

Fortunately, the point was probably moot. Sorry. We mean it's been resolved.

"Arrested this am on a bench warrant. I didn't know that I was supposed [to] appear in court a few weeks ago," he wrote on his Facebook page.

"It was to do with the old DUI charge and it's been cleared up. I am free to go."

Rock legend Rick Springfield busted out his guitar and performed LIVE ... on a New York subway platform Wednesday morning. You gotta see it!

Rick's impromptu performance of "Jessie's Girl" and two other songs took place during rush hour, making it even more impressive that people stopped to watch.

It's unclear why Springfield planned this, but it's good to see him in a better frame of mind than when he got arrested for DUI and threatened to kill the cops.

Rick Springfield has copped a plea to avoid jail in his DUI case.

The charge stemmed from an incident in which he allegedly threatened to KILL a deputy sheriff - see one of our more amazing celebrity mug shots below - but the "Jessie's Girl" singer apparently bargained with prosecutors.

Rick's plea deal should make it all go away STAT.

Springfield was arrested in Malibu back in May 2011 and allegedly threatened to kill the deputy and his family if he had his 1963 Corvette Stingray towed.

Prosecutors agreed to drop the DUI charges, however, in exchange for a no contest plea to reckless driving and three years probation. Case closed.

As for Randy Travis' DWI arrest this week, that case remains very much open ... and ridiculous. Don't drive drunk you kids. Please, just don't do it.

Rick Springfield threatened to kill a deputy sheriff and his family the night he was arrested for DUI, yet there was no mention of the incident in the arrest report.

Springfield was arrested in Malibu May 1 and blew a .10, above the legal limit. The deputy said his $200,000, 1963 Corvette Stingray would be towed away.

The singer/actor was not pleased.

Law enforcement sources say upon hearing that news, Springfield yelled to the deputy, "If you tow my car I will f*%king kill you and your family."

He must not have taken it seriously, because there was no mention of the threat in the report. which merely says that Rick Springfield was "belligerent."

LA County Sheriff's Dept. spokesman Steve Whitmore says. "It is rare when a drunk doesn't say something outlandish to police when they're arrested."

Rick Springfield is probably wishing he had Jessie's Girl ... to post $1,250 bail and spring him from jail. Dude got popped for DUI in L.A. last night!

Atrocious intros aside, the 61-year-old rocker and soap opera star was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk around 8:00 PM for a traffic violation.

When officers approached the vehicle, they noticed the smell of booze and requested Springfield perform field sobriety tests. He didn't do so hot.

Nor did he handle it well when he was booked ...

Rick Springfield's mug shot is among the saddest we've seen.

Law enforcement sources report that Rick's blood alcohol content was measured at .10 and .08. The legal limit in California is .08, so he was arrested.

Springfield was taken to a nearby jail, where he was booked and released on his own recognizance ... and was apparently embarrassed about it all.

Seriously, this is quite the contrast from the mug shot taken when Flavor Flav was arrested over the weekend. Flav was happy as a clam! Not Rick.
