We recently polled readers to see who the hottest Canadian actress on TV is. Had Rachel McAdams been on a TV show, that race may have been moot.

She's the preeminent girl crush - a celebrated and funny actress (Mean Girls, The Notebook, Wedding Crashers, Married Life) who could also be a friend.

At least that's what we like to think, okay? A celebrity gossip site can dream, people. Here is the 30-year-old beauty on the latest cover of Marie Claire:

A rarity in today's celebrity world, Rachel McAdams radiates class - there have been no trashy crotch shots in the tabloids, no attention-seeking hookups.

Even her many breakups with Ryan Gosling seemed amicable. She still lives in Canada, not far from her folks, in an "old house that's kind of falling apart."

Trust us, guys, women love The Notebook. And everyone loves Wedding Crashers quotes. Speaking of quotes, American Idol's Simon Cowell is a veritable machine.

Here's a little tribute to the birthday girl (32) and boy (47):

All four of the stars below have something in common: they're attracted to men. Which is all good by us. They also have the pink hair thing goin' on!

We're not sure why, but some do it better than others. Who, in your opinion can pull off the pink 'do and whose locks are more like pink don'ts?

First, we have the newly-transformed T.R. Knight, star of the hit medical drama-comedy Greys Anatomy. He said he was looking forward to time away from the show this summer, and made good on that promise with dyed pink locks.

To his right, we have the lovely Rachel McAdams. She's been rocking the pinkness for some time now. The Notebook and Wedding Crashers star sure is hot, and her fiance, Ryan Gosling, seems to dig it, so we'll give her two thumbs up.

Now it's time for a couple of singers. At left, British cutie Joss Stone, who is in the process of introducing herself on her newest album with great vocal skillz and a radical new look. Somehow she pulls it off. As does a crazy chick who needs no introduction: Pink.

All we can say about Rachel McAdams - so often compared to other supposed American sweethearts - is that she's on the cover of Elle magazine. Here are excerpts from her interview in it:

On her film choices:
"I'm not going to make movies just to make movies. I have to be passionate about it."

* The Hollywood Gossip note: Reportedly, McAdams turned down a part in Casino Royale, as well as the role that went to Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada.

On why she quit being a vegetarian:
"I stopped eating meat for a few years and got so tired I feel asleep during a Chris Rock show - live, front row. And I was like, 'I'm picking up some bacon tomorrow!'"

On boyfriend Ryan Gosling:
"He's very brave. I don't think he sees the point [in taking a role] unless he can find out what he's made of every time. He just doesn't back off. He goes into everything from that place."

On her idiosyncrasies:
"I have major anxiety about crooked pictures. They just make me mental. I'm spatially sensitive. In the shower, I have to have the shampoo bottles setup right. I don't want the writing facing. I want the label facing out. I'm learning to relax about bookshelves. I think the books look nicer if the heights are mixed up."

On dying:
"I don't want to have a tombstone. You can now be made into a reef! I was reading that they can make your remains into a reef and put you in the ocean, and the fish can feed off you! I just want to go back into the earth the same way I came."

We were pretty much already sold on the next Batman movie once Heath Ledger signed up as The Joker.

Then, we heard that Scientology slave, Katie Holmes, had bowed out of production and we were looking to buy tickets months in advance.

Now, reports are circulating that the young actress taking Mrs. Cruise's place is none other than Rachel McAdams. We McLove her. Buy us a tub of popcorn and save us front row seats, please.

Seen here, McAdams is with boyfriend and rumored fiance, Ryan Gosling. They're one of our favorite couples, no question.

While anything involving Diddy and Sienna Miller just seems dirty, this twosome ooze cuteness.

We wish them nothing but the best.

Typically, however, we're looking at a blonde going brunette. Or vice versa. It's a rare case when a beautiful brown-haired star trades in her dark locks for ... pink. But Rachel McAdams has dared to go where few others ever have.

Now that she's (possibly) engaged to Ryan Gosling, perhaps the Wedding Crashers actress simply doesn't care about her looks anymore. Or perhaps she's aware that a face like that goes with any hair color.

Either way, we're on the McAdams bandwagon. She's everything that Anna Nicole Smith is not.

They were everyone's favorite fake couple in The Notebook.

Then, Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling got together in real life.

Then, they broke up. Now, they're reportedly an engaged couple again.

It's enough to make Jude Law and Sienna Miller look normal. Almost.

An insider tells Life & Style the couple are finally re-engaged and back to making long-term plans together after a "touchy" reconciliation period, during which neither was sure of their decision.

"Ryan didn't have to repropose," says the insider. "He and Rachel just agreed it was time to think about getting married again because they had worked out their problems.

Ryan says he's thrilled that Rachel is wearing her engagement ring again, which Ryan gave her early in 2005.

It was always a secret engagement, and they will never confirm it publicly, but it's back on, and they're happy again, planning some family vacations together and doing the private-party rounds to support Ryan's role in Half Nelson."

Shockingly, the pair won't be following in the insane, public footsteps of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

"Ryan says they're looking for a good time to slip away and do it," says the insider, "and he's even said New Year's might be the perfect time for him and Rachel to make things permanent."

Sounds exciting! We just hope Britney Spears and Jonathan Rotem are next in line. It's about time she settled down again.

It's the latest celebrity craze: confused couples.

Seriously, are you with Tony Parker or not, Eva Longoria? That picture says you are, but the thought bubble we made up says you're still pining for Mario Lopez.

Then there's Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Vinnifer/Vaughniston can't settle on a nickname, let alone a stable relationship.

Now, it appears as though young love birds Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are back together. Maybe. The Notebook costars reportedly broke up this summer, but the native Canadians looked very much the happy couple on Sunday in Toronto, taking their dog to the park and each other's tongues to town.

Gosling was in town shooting scenes for his new film, Lars and the Real Girl. The 25-year-old actor is receiving high praise for his latest performance as an idealistic teacher struggling with drug addiction in Half Nelson.

McAdams, meanwhile, is gorgeous. A dream boat. Someone who could give Scarlett Johansson a serious run for her sexy money.

She also recently finished shooting Marriage, a 1940s era drama about an adulterous man who plots to kill his wife to spare her the humiliation of a divorce.
