Queen Latifah to Headline Gay Pride Festival
During the same week when North Carolina residents passed a constitutional amendment that defines marriage exclusively between a man and a woman, it looks like Queen Latifah has decided to come out of the closet.
Rumors about the veteran star's sexual preference have been circulating for years, but now it appears she's chosen to end the speculation... by headlining this year's Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival.
It takes place on May 19/20.
Said Pat Crosby, co-president of the event:
“From hip to R&B, pop to standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal. For her to make her worldwide Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration and to the strength of our community.”
Snooki, Queen Latifah and Tiffani Thiessen: Cast on Dancing With the Stars!
We recently reported about how Dancing With the Stars producers are under pressure from ABC to cast actual celebrities and fewer D-listers such as Bristol Palin, Kate Gosselin and The Situation. Well, today they landed ...
Effing Snooki.
Break out the furry boots and trucker hats (and Bruno's "1" paddle). Supposedly, the cast can pick its own costumes this fall. Our vote is for this:
We already know watching Snooki fall down face first is entertaining, and she is a pretty big name these days (even if you hate the reason why).
Queen Latifah and White Collar star Tiffani Thiessen are also on board, as well, giving the show more celebrities to balance out Rob Kardashian.
Dancing With the Stars is actively courting NBA players, given their lockout sitch, although it's unclear if any ballers have signed on as of yet.
Shawn Marion of the world champion Mavericks turned down DWTS this month. The season begins in September after Bachelor Pad concludes.
Thoughts on these new additions?
Queen Latifah to Release Fashion Line
Queen Latifah is already a singer, actress, award ceremony host and television personality.
But the star apparently isn't busy enough, as she's announced an upcoming fashion line that will be sold on HLN.
“I’m so excited about it,” Latifah tells People. “This is something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I’ve been offered a lot of deals for clothing lines and actually started one that didn’t quite get off the ground but this is like a full circle moment for me.”
A lover of hand bags, Latifah says those accessories will be "really good."
And HLN viewers will have a chance to purchase them, along with other items, on August 27. There will be "something for everyone," the Queen says.

Queen Latifah to Kate Middleton: Find Peace!
It's important to remember: Queen Latifah is not actually royalty.
Still, this artist took it upon herself to give advice to Kate Middleton in a recent interview, telling Parade the princess-to-be must find a "sanctuary."
"Everybody in the world is going to be in your business," Latifah said. "He happened to be born a prince; you happened to go to college and meet him. You're two kids who fell in love. I just hope you have a happy life. And don't take anything personally."
Latifah will host this week's People's Choice Awards and also co-stars with Vince Vaughn in The Dilemma.
Where does she see herself in 10 years? "On cruise control, with a couple of kids under my belt," she says, adding: "It's in the Lord's hands... I work a lot. I want to make sure I'm living life to the fullest."
