For the last couple weeks, The Hollywood Gossip has looked back at 2009 by naming the finalists for our prestigious, 3rd Annual Celebrity of the Year award.

In this section, we've been paying tribute to the unique stars that made the past 12 months so memorable for gossip followers across the nation and globe.

Now, following last edition's selection of Miley Cyrus in the #2 spot, we've finally reached the top. Drumroll please...

For 2009, THG's Celebrity of the Year is... the New Moon cast!

Critics might say we're copping out by choosing more than one star for this honor, but come on. Everyone involved with the Twilight Saga deserves recognition for turning a book series into the most popular, buzzed-about film franchise in years.

This doesn't always happen. Remember The Golden Compass? Probably not. Starring Nicole Kidman, it was meant as the first installment in a trilogy based on Philip Pullman's His Dark Material novels. A second movie was never even made.

So, what enabled New Moon to gross over $660 million worldwide? A cast of young, fresh, gorgeous, talented and seemingly grounded individuals. Below, we note each actor's 2009 accomplishments:

Robert Pattinson: Might as well start at the top. The British actor has grown into a global phenomenon. He can't walk away from a film set without being followed by countless paparazzi members, his every interaction with women is chronicled like it's a Presidential summit and he was named one of People's 50 Most Beautiful People of 2009.

Over the course of a few months, Pattinson covered Entertainment Weekly, Harper's Bazaar, OK! Weekly, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. He's also dating...

Kristen Stewart: She broods, therefore she is. While Stewart had already appeared in a critically-acclaimed movie (Into the Wild) prior to landing the role of Bella Swan, she took on a cult following after her performance in New Moon. Millions of women around the world both love her and hate her for bagging Pattinson, but one thing is clear: they can't take their eyes off her.

Taylor Lautner: He dated Taylor Swift. He rarely wore a shirt. He was actually able to recruit girls away from Team Edward for Team Jacob, based on his bulked-up role in New Moon. Lautner has already signed on for two new movies and appears to have a huge career ahead of him.

Ashley Greene: The actress almost broke the Internet when naked photos of her were leaked online.

Nikki Reed: Probably the least known main star of the franchise. But she's dating Paris Latsis, Paris Hilton's ex, and has been involved in numerous THG Fashion Face-Offs.

Kellan Lutz: Has the best young body in Hollywood and wants to be the next Jason Bourne. Has been involved with 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord and... did we mention his body?

As part of a campaign urging youth to take aim at poverty and disease, the ONE foundation has released a new ad which aired during last night's Gossip Girl.

Fittingly, that show's stars Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick took part in it, along with Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed of the Twilight saga.

Heroes' Hayden Panettiere, Tristan Wilds from 90210, FlashForward cast member John Cho, Tropic Thunder's Brandon Jackson and more rounded out the ad spot:

For understandable reasons, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won't talk about their relationship.

But co-star Nikki Reed is quick to open up about her boyfriend, Paris Latsis. After all, the actress told People, he changed her life.

"When you date someone who loves the outdoors, it's inspiring," Reed said. "I've learned from my boyfriend. I've taken on his lifestyle."

For example, Reed says, she's quit smoking thanks to Latsis' influence.

"Instead of gaining weight, I lost weight. I started going to the gym and taking care of myself. I'm into outdoor sports like hiking, windsurfing, water-skiing. I'm much more active and much happier."

She's also grown accustomed to the legion of fans that follow her... pretty much everywhere.

"Last year, I was like, hyperventilating. I don't want to say I've gotten used to it, but my palms aren't sweating as much," she said. "I love walking up to my fans and saying, 'Thank you for coming.' It's more real."

Over the last few weeks, a trio of Hollywood stars have been spotted in the same outfit. One is Malin Akerman and, well, she starred in Watchmen. That's pretty much it.

But Nikki Reed and Kourtney Kardashian both have something in common, aside from fashion taste: a future filled with possibly naked pictures!

The Twilight Saga star claims her laptop was stolen, a convenient excuse when shots of her in her birthday suit are released next week; Kourtney, conversely, is far less subtle. She's on record as saying she'd likely pose naked while pregnant.

This month's leaking of Ashley Greene nude photos caused servers around the country to crash.

While the pictures were quickly removed from websites, due to threats of a lawsuit, they may have given Greene's co-star an idea for publicity.

After all, according to sources at Life & Style, Nikki Reed was overheard complaining to Robert Pattinson this week that her laptop was stolen. While Reed was upset that she wouldn't be able to show off photos of her and Paris Latsis in Greece, we wonder if this is simply a prologue to the following headline:

She's already got an excuse for it, right?

For now, Reed is sticking with the story that the only images on the computer involved her and her boyfriend.

Somehow, the aforementioned tabloid claims to have insiders that heard Nikki tell Robert:

“I had so much fun in Greece this summer. I wish I had pictures to show you, but my laptop was stolen with everything on it. The police are trying to find it for me, but I doubt they will, which really sucks!”

Somewhere, meanwhile, Reed's lawyers are already crafting a letter that will order sites to remove naked photos of their client. It's the circle of celebrity life.

Once again, Twilight Saga friends are about to become foes.

Both Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene dazzled at last night's Teen Choice Awards, but only one can be crowned the winner in the poll below.

New Moon hottie alert!

A quartet of beauties from the upcoming Twilight sequel are featured in the latest issue of Glamour UK.

In the article, Nikki Reed, Rachelle Lefevre, Ashley Greene and Noot Seear dish on their beauty and fashion secrets, as the actresses finally get a platform to themselves, away from the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson dating rumors.

Speaking of Stewart, however, it's hard not to wonder why she wasn't included in this photo. Was she too busy banging her boyfriend?

Lefevre, of course, stars as Victoria in New Moon... but that will be the end of the line for this actress. She's been replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for the remainder of the Twilight Saga.

Fans are still in an uproar over this casting switch. Will you miss Rachelle in that role?

Life is tough for the cast of Eclipse.

You make a lot of money doing what you love; you're adored by millions of fans; and you jet off to beautiful locales such as Vancouver to film.

Such was the case for Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed this week, as the trio packed its bags and boarded a plane for Canada. Shooting on the third film in the Twilight Saga will commence there this month.

Not all the cast members took off by themselves, however. Reed brought along boyfriend Paris Latsis, and even stopped to give the paparazzi a bit of PDA in the Los Angeles airport:

We can't help but wonder: Where were Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart while their co-stars flew over the border?

Perhaps sharing one final night alone together, before the Eclipse cameras - and celebrity gossip cameras - start rolling again? Your guess is as good as ours.

Earlier today, Rachelle Lefevre had a great deal to say about the fact that she's been let go from the Twilight Saga.

But when asked by People about the status of her former co-star (who has been replaced as Victoria by Bryce Dallas Howard), Nikki Reed couldn't muster much of an opinion.

"[I] talked to [Rachelle] yet," the actress that plays Roalie Hale in the franchise told the magazine. "I don't know anything about it other than a schedule conflict."

Reed does know a lot about Robert Pattinson, however. She was even rumored to be dating him at one point.

What makes the Edward Cullen portrayer so irresistable?

"Rob is sort of feminine looking and I think young girls like boys that look like women," she said.
