Stop us if you've heard this before, but the marriage between Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey is over.

Completely. Finally. Legally. Once and for all.

The two have resolved the splitting of their asset. It officially brings their divorce to a close, even though details of their settlement are undisclosed.

Jessica separated from Nick in June 2006 and filed for divorce that December. It's still unclear if a bit of Bam Margera played a role in the break-up.

It is clear, though, that Simpson has spent the past few months shooting her latest film, Blonde Ambition, in Shreveport, La. as she attempts to move on. At times, John Mayer has tried to help with that goal, as well.

Lachey, meanwhile, is scheduled to host a party at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas on Saturday night. He spent his time since the breakup renovating a Bel Air bachelor pad and amping up his music career with the gold-selling album What's Left of Me and a nationwide tour.

Oh, he's also dating MTV vixen Vanessa Minnillo. Not too shabby.

Bruce Springsteen may be the Boss to everyone else, but the rock icon's kids are more enamored with another singer... Nick Lachey.

So when the still happily-married Springsteen ran into the ex of Jessica Simpson at the Jingle Ball, he made sure to introduce himself - and get a piece of him, the New York Post reports.

"[Springsteen] ran across the crowd to gush over Nick and hugged him - so he could go home and tell his daughter, Jessica Rae, he 'got action from Nick,'" an eyewitness says.

"Apparently, she's completely in love with Nick and Bruce wanted to give her an early Christmas gift by relaying the story to her."

Looks like Vanessa Minnillo has some competition! Not that we can blame Bruce or his daughter. Unless she also likes Ashlee Simpson - then we're so gonna be in a fight.

While Jessica Simpson is downright frazzled over rumors of a sex tape, her ex-husband seems to be taking it in stride.

Nick Lachey didn't comment on the bare boning of the situation as he took pictures of himself as the new one-third owner of a minor league baseball team.

Indeed, the Tacoma Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, can expect to hear numerous 98 Degrees tunes blaring from clubhouse speakers before every game now.

The pop singer was introduced yesterday with fellow co-owners and a plushie Moose named Rhubarb (in case you were wondering). No word on the whereabouts of Vanessa Minnillo.

"Baseball is a true passion of mine, Tacoma is a growing city and I have every intention of playing an active ownership role in the Rainiers as we continue to grow," said Nick.

As active a role as he played in the supposed Jessica Simpson sex tape? We may never know ... unless David Hans Schmidt works his immoral magic.

First, there was the Paris Hilton sex tape. Yech.

Then, the Dustin Diamond sex tape. Yikes.

Finally, rumors of a Britney Spears sex tape.

Yippee.

Now comes perhaps the sex tape possibility to end all sex tape possibilities:

Jessica Simpson is reportedly reeling over talk that a certain video is about to be leaked onto the Internet.

In the alleged X-rated romp, Jessica is seen engaging in a number of acts with then-husband Nick Lachey that would make even Crazy Joe Simpson blush.

In other words: please make this be real! T.H. Gossip can't handle being teased like this again.

On second thought, sure we can. But we still hope this is legit. A source reportedly close to the couple told Britain's Daily Sport newspaper:

"Jessica is horrified her name and sex tape are being mentioned in the same sentence. She's always been a girl of high morals and principles."

Except when she cheated on Nick with Bam Margera, that is.

According to reports, the tape does exist and has no doubt fallen into the dirty clutches of David Hans Schmidt.

How the heck did that guy get his job?

Nick Lachey is a happy guy these days. He's got a better singing career than he ever had when he was married, and doesn't have to spend time with that half-wit Jessica Simpson either.

But that doesn't mean the memories from his unhappy union aren't lingering. Even as our boy Nick celebrates a joyous occasion - his birthday, as well as the birthday of his new squeeze, the sweet and vastly superior Vanessa Minnillo - he can't help but become enraged and suicidal when certain songs are played over the club's sound system.

Yes, Nick, we totally understand. Listening to Ashlee Simpson will drive your into a blinding rage. It certainly happens to us. We can't even imagine what it's like when she's your sister-in-law and you have to pretend she doesn't suck ass.

Around a year ago, Jessica Simpson filed for divorce frm Nick Lachey. It was a seismic blow to the hearts and minds of reality TV and pop song fans everywhere.

But things change.

On November 9, Lachey celebrated his 33rd birthday. Also blowing out candles that day? The singer's new lady friend, Vanessa Minnillo. These two don't appear to be breaking up any time soon.

Especially not when Vanessa is understanding enough to let her man party with the Pussycat Dolls, as pictured below. Minnillo, meanwhile, was seen checking out her fortune from a certain cookie on her anniversary of birth.

 

We can imagine what Nick hopes it said: You will not sleep with Bam Margera.

They seemed like the perfect, reality TV couple a year ago. Then, on Thanksgiving, everything changed.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey announced their split, following three years of marriage. Since then, Simpson, 26, and Lachey, 33, whose divorce became final on June 30, have clearly moved on, as People magazine reports in its latest issue.

Simpson made shelter at her Beverly Hills mansion and has kept busy with music, movie work and a possible fling with John Mayer.

"She's doing great," Simpson's stylist and best pal, Ken Paves, told the publication, while Jessica says this Thanksgiving will be spent with family in Texas.

"I'm going to Waco with my family. I look forward to just seeing my grandparents and giving them a big hug and cooking with my grandma and my family," Simpson said. "And just kind of being normal for a little bit."

She'll probably surf the Internet for dates while there, too.

Overall, Jessica says she's "really good," - and will soon starting shooting a new movie, Blond Ambition, with Luke Wilson.

It's about "a small-town girl moving to the city and making it in the corporate world, and she never expected to make it there," she said.

Doesn't sound one bit like Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon to us. Not one bit.

Meanwhile, Lachey, who is renovating a Bel Air bachelor pad, has amped up his music career with a gold-selling album and nationwide tour.

He's also found love again with MTV's TRL host Vanessa Minnillo, 26, who he's been dating for seven months. It was actually both of their birthdays yesterday.

"The first few months were hard," a pal of Lachey's told People about life after his split from Simpson. "But Nick finally realized he was in a better place."

In Jane magazine, Jessica Simpson says that on their third wedding anniversary, she went to go save the children while Nick just "stayed at home."

In that one fateful moment, everything changed for Ashlee's sister.

"Everything became so clear," said Jessica. "I was in hospitals with all these sick kids ... I just knew I needed to find something more in my life, on my own."

Like the long-awaited answer to the chicken/tuna debate.

Look, we like Jessica. She's pretty and sweet. But give Nick Lachey a break. He wasn't the one that spent hundreds on lingerie that could've gone to charity or sat around the house, whining about cooking a meal.

Okay, maybe we watched too much Newlyweds.

The point is: Lachey may not be Bono ... but he's not O.J. Simpson, either.

What a difference a day makes. Or getting photographed in public without asking to be. Despite telling David Letterman the day before that he learned his lesson and is keeping his current relationship out of the spotlight, boy band God Nick Lachey takes the lovely Vanessa Minnillo by the hand as they leave a New York City hotel on Thursday.

Yeah, it's probably a good thing Nick doesn't attempt any new reality shows. Jessica Simpson may have nice boobs, but really, there's not a whole lot going on upstairs.

Uh-oh. Could there be trouble in Nick Lachey land?

The studly singer appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night ... but wouldn't even utter the name "Vanessa Minnillo."

Are they finished as a couple? Is Nick, once again, going Soul-O? No, not at all. Lachey has just made a choice to keep his private life private. (It's a good thing for The Gossip staff that Dustin Diamond has decided to take the opposite approach.)

Anyway, here's a partial transcript of the interview:

David Letterman: You haven't been here in quite a long time.
Nick Lachey: It has been a long time.

DL: You were here with your then wife, the lovely Jessica Simpson.
NL: Yes indeed.

DL: You were doing a show that was on MTV about being a newlywed at the time and, I don't want to make you feel, maybe you don't feel bad, I can't tell. But I would think that doing a show like that would maybe actually make the marriage stronger.
NL: Yeah. About that. [Audience laughs] Not so much. I don't think so ... It was among the dumber ideas I think I've ever seen executed in history.

DL: But at the time, there was every reason to do that show. People liked it.
NL: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And for a while, I think we actually enjoyed doing the show as well. It was just so invasive that it became a problem.

DL: Do you think that was why the marriage broke up?
NL: You know that's one of those things where I think until you get enough hindsight and enough clarity and perspective, I don't think you can really know what happened. But, I certainly think it was probably a factor.

DL: Are you still friends? Friendly?
NL: We are. And I think both of us have handled it about as well as we possibly could, under the microscope that we're under and everything. But, I think, again, with time, it'll give us a better opportunity to redefine our relationship.

DL: Now, when I got divorced years and years and years ago, I spent a considerable amount of time thereafter drunk. I mean, really drunk.
[NL and audience laugh]
NL: It wasn't quite that bad but, I definitely think you go through different phases and there's certainly a phase of, "Oh, I don't care about anythingâ€"I'm going to throw myself into a little bit of booze and kind of numb the pain." And I went through a little bit of that and came out on the other side and still have some sobriety left.
