Online reports claiming Miranda Fugate, the girl hit with a shovel in a Vine video that went viral this week, has died as a result of the attack are unsubstantiated.

A story titled, "Miranda, 16, Who Was Hit In The Head With A Shovel, Dies" has been shared thousand of times since the video spread, but is without merit.

Simple searches reveal that it originated not from a valid news or celebrity gossip source, but a satirical news site famous for spreading death hoaxes.

Huzlers (dot) com reports that "Miranda Fugate Lockwood died of serious head injuries after being hit with a shovel in the head by an old friend, Emily Powers."

"The whole thing was caught on video and posted all over the internet and generated around 500,000 video views in just 2 days," the site also claims.

That part is true. Hundreds of thousands of people have seen Miranda Fugate hit in the head with a shovel. She is alive and well, though. This is untrue:

Can you say Sharkesiha, Take 2?

In an insane Vine video making the Internet rounds, two girls agree to fight.

They exchange punches, slaps, kicks and taunts before taking a break to talk and then they begin the process over again multiple times.

Neither side backs down... until one pulls out a shovel and toss it into the head of her opponent.

Most of the video has been removed from the Internet, except for all the all-important (read: totally NUTS) shovel throw. See it for yourself here:

The victim later took again to Vine and told folks she’s “doing alright,” even including with her message the hashtag #shovel.”

What is it about fast food chains and the desire of some grown men to have memories of them inked on to their skin forever?

First, there was the dude in Norway who got a McDonald's receipt tattooed on to his forearm.

And now there's the anonymous guy on YouTube who has a photo of the KFC Double Down etched on his body.

KFC Double Down Tattoo

Featured in a commercial for the restaurant (below), the bushy-faced individual says he got a Double Down on a date with his girlfriend and "I guess that's how it all started."

Mike Anderson spent 13 years free from prison due entirely to a clerical error, then nearly a year behind bars after the mistake was finally caught.

Monday, he was set free, with no need to look over his shoulder anymore.

Cornealious "Mike" Anderson was freed by associate circuit judge Terry Lynn Brown, who gave the 37-year-old credit for 4,794 days of time served.

That was the span between his conviction and his arrest last year.

A "very happy" Anderson left the courthouse with his wife and 3-year-old daughter on one arm, his grandmother on the other, tears in all of their eyes.

"My faith has always been in God. I'm just so thankful. I just thank God for everybody," said Anderson, who was 23 when he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

His role in the robbery of a fast-food restaurant's assistant manager earned him that sentence, after which he waited, and even asked about going to prison.

The order never came. He didn't flee, but he went about his life.

James Weldon Alton, a 29-year-old who played Captain America at Universal Studios, has been arrested after sending lewd photos to an underage girl.

Captain America, Fan

Not unlike the James Franco Instagram scandal, another of America's heroes finds himself embroiled in a saga of unseemly social media activities.

What is this world coming to?

In Alton's case, Captain America got popped on felony charges after allegedly transmitting harmful material to a minor - a 16-year-old girl he met on the job.

The girl posed with Alton at Universal Studios a few weeks ago and posted a pic on Instagram. Alton found it, and soon an online friendship began.

They began exchanging texts as friends, but Alton quickly escalated the "relationship" by sending penis pics and texting about masturbation and "getting into her."

Is this video of a possible Sasquatch?

Myles Lamont of Vancouver, British Columbia, shot this footage in mid-2011, but is just uploading it now, renewing the never-ending debate over Bigfoot.

Not unlike all other Bigfoot sightings (below), the footage is obviously grainy and shot from an incredible distance. No one can ever get the thing in focus.

Nevertheless ... whatever that creature is appears to be gigantic and moving at BREAKNECK speed up a snowy slope in the Tantalus Range mountains.

But is it a 'squatch? You decide:

Lamont acknowledges that "we were able to view the subject much better than what the video portrays, as [we used] a simple point and shoot camera."

"The subject was clearly bipedal," he adds, and from what he could observe, "was without snowshoes or backpack and wearing all one-colored clothing.

Eight Ringling Bros. acrobats performing a “Hair Hang Act” were hospitalized following a 35-45 foot fall that stunned circus-goers in Providence, R.I.

They had been hanging by their hair from a metal structure designed to look like a “human chandelier” as part of the famed circus' acrobatic display.

Their injuries, and those of several people below, were described as not life-threatening by first responders; the nature of the injuries was uncertain.

Parents in Providence’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center, many at first uncertain whether the fall was part of the act, rushed their children out of the show.

They soon realized a serious accident had indeed occurred. According to the Providence Journal, a circus announcer told the audience that accidents can happen.

He thanked the first responders and announced that the show, which began at about 11 a.m., would not continue as a result of the fall that took place.

The fate of former NFL cheerleader Sarah Jones' federal defamation lawsuit against celebrity gossip website The Dirty remains up in the air, according to reports.

Sarah Jones won the suit and a $338,000 judgment last summer.

The verdict was so unprecedented, however, that it prompted some of the country's largest companies to file briefs asking the appellate court to reverse the decision.

Now, it looks destined to go before the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 2012, high school teacher Jones pleaded guilty to criminal charges and admitted that she had sex with a 17-year-old student she taught at Dixie Heights H.S.

She later became engaged to the student.

Like a lot of websites, TheDirty (dot) com allows commenters to leave posts, some of which could be considered offensive. Or in this case, defamatory.

Jones, for one, said she was offended by two that said she'd had sex with every Bengals player on the team and likely had gonorrhea and chlamydia.

May Day, celebrated on May 1, stems from an ancient spring festival that has taken on a variety of meanings in various cultures in recent centuries.

Today is exactly half a year from November 1, which like May Day was thought to carry celestial significance among pagans in the Northern Hemisphere.

The consensus among is historians is that the origins of May Day date back to the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night.

We have no idea what that means, so you know it was a long ass time ago.

Whatever its origins, it's the start of a new month, the advent of (hopefully) warmer weather and a great excuse to celebrate all things May across the land.

In honor of May Day, here's a look at nine celebrities named May:
