Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" was one of the biggest songs of 2013, if not the biggest, so it's fitting that he helped close out the year with it Tuesday night.

Thicke performed the infectious track in Los Angeles and beamed it over to the Ryan Seacrest-hosted, New York-based New Year’s Rockin' Eve celebration.

There was no nude Emily Ratajkowski or Twerking Miley Cyrus to assist this time, but the catchy melody and sexy vibe were as palpable as ever.

From coast to coast, from night to day ... he knows you want it.

The Canadian crooner sort of literally blurred the lines between himself and the crowd by performing amidst revelers at one point during the live effort.

It was a fitting way to bid farewell to the year that was.

Along with Katy Perry's "Roar," Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop," the year definitely belonged to "Blurred Lines."

The only question is what he'll do for an encore.

While January 1 is traditionally a day to turn the page and look ahead, rather than back, there's a certain comfort in still having the horn part of "Thrift Shop" stuck in your head.

That's likely the case for more than a few people who watched Macklemore & Ryan Lewis perform their #1 track along with "Can't Hold Us" on New Year's Rockin' Eve.

The guys owned the frigid Times Square stage, with the rapper dressed for the occasion in his bright red sneakers and trademark thrift shop-esque poncho thing.

Damn ... that's a cold ass honkey!

The performance punctuated an incredible 12 months for the twosome.

An underground, unsigned and unheard of rap group when 2013 started, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are now one of the biggest acts in pop music.

Whether you love them, hate them or somewhere in between, there's no question that the Seattle duo brings it to the people ... spreading it across the country.

Na na na na, na na na na!

The young and talented Ariana Grande never misses a note, and she proved it last night, performing via satellite for Dick Clark‘s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

The 20-year-old rising star sang a pair of tunes in “Right There” and “The Way,” like the pro that she is alongside rappers Big Sean and Mac Miller.

Watch her bring the house down:

Big Sean, who appears on the studio version of "Right There," made a surprise appearance, as did Miller, who collaborated on her debut single "The Way."

In Tokyo for New Year’s Eve, Ariana Grande was lucky enough to avoid the frigid New York weather, unlike Miley Cyrus' New Year's Eve performance.

She dressed accordingly in a black sequined corset top and silver metallic skirt, wrapped up like a present you'd find under the tree ... or something.

Her musical talent is a true gift, in any case.

Miley Cyrus closed out 2013 with one last memorable performance from Times Square Tuesday night, and managed to stay mostly clothed in the process.

With temperatures in New York City well below freezing and Cyrus tweeting about battling a bad “cough/cold” beforehand, she was up against it.

“If I can just get thru tonight I can have a nice lil break,” she wrote prior to the show, but like any pro's pro, she put on her gold crop top and went to work.

Miley Cyrus' performance on New Year's Rockin' Eve, which took place about 20 minutes before midnight on ABC, began with an attempt to "#GetItRight."

Her vocals on that hashtagged track sounded a bit pitchy, but fans briefly got to see her grind on a backup dancer half her height, so there's that.

Then the "Wrecking Ball" came through, and she owned the stage.

As she broke down the proverbial walls of the crowd, one of the biggest songs of 2013 became a giant sing-a-long with fans who know it by heart by now.

The 21-year-old singer quipped to host Ryan Seacrest that her shimmering gold outfit and fur coat marked "the most clothes I’ve been in in 2013."

You can blame/thank the Northeast weather for that. Either way, the Year of Miley Cyrus came to an end with a shiver as much as with a bang(erz).

How will the provocative, controversial star top herself in 2014? We can only wait and see, THGers. We can only wait and see. Happy New Year!

Anderson Cooper tweeted a topless photo of his friend and New Year's Eve co-host Kathy Griffin, joking that it may be what she wears this evening.

The CNN personality joked that the comedienne "just sent me this photo of her outfit for New Year's Eve. She's kidding, right? Please tell me she is."

We can't speak to that ... but this is what you get when you send Anderson Cooper selfies with no top on. Instant Internet infamy. Mental note made.

  • Kathy Griffin Topless
  • Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin

If she's gonna get naked tonight on CNN, where she's hosted New Year's Eve live with Cooper since 2007, Griffin will be braving harsh conditions.

She's been Tweeting about the inevitably cold weather she'll be facing in Times Square from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET: "Let the nipple freezing begin!"

The unfiltered Griffin has proven to be the perfect comedic foil for the straight-laced Cooper, who is actually a terrific journalist in the proper setting.

It was a Times Square celebration filled with revelers, confetti, Kathy Griffin going down on Anderson Cooper and music.

A whole lot of music.

Justin Bieber went acoustic; Hammer and Psy went Gangnam Style; Taylor Swift went red; and a trio of other artists also took to the New York City stage.

Oops, he did it again, folks.

Justin Bieber performed last night in Times Square, taking the famous New Year's Eve stage and revealing his slick six-pack for the world to see.

Yes, it was another Justin Bieber shirtless show for fans, as the artist belted out a version of “As Long As You Love Me” (with Big Sean) and also went acoustic for "Boyfriend."

Watch both now:

Among other New Year's Eve highlights:

HAPPY NEW YEAR, THGers!

Taylor Swift capped an incredible 2012 with a rockin performance in Times Square last night, belting out favorites "I Knew You Were Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” in front of New Year's Eve revelers.

And how did the singer celebrate at midnight? With a kiss for boyfriend Harry Styles!

Swift was named a THG Celebrity of the Year for her professional success and personal endeavors - and we have a strong feeling she'll make the list again in 2013.

Why? She's awesome. And 13 is her lucky number!

Yesterday was PSY's 35th birthday, and one the Korean rapper will never forget.

As December 31 drew to a close, PSY and special guest Hammer reprised their epic American Music Awards performance with another joint effort in Times Square.

Watch the awesomely odd couple's Gangnam Style / 2 Legit 2 Quit mashup:

Two main takeaways from their New Year's Rockin' Eve 2013 performance:

  1. Hammer is 50! And still has pretty unreal dance moves and pants.
  2. PSY's semi-botched English interview was awfully endearing.

If he is retiring the song after this, he went out on a positive note.
