Britney Spears is feeling kinda blue these days ... but the new song she released for The Smurfs 2 is totally not. Take a listen to the upbeat track below!

The singer's whimsical vocals are layered atop upbeat electro beats as a rollicking guitar strums in and out. Vintage Britney ... with a Smurfs twist!

The first Smurfs movie opened in 2011 to little fanfare, but shocked box-office watchers when it became a bona fide hit and earned $563 million worldwide.

The sequel and its higher expectations arrive in theaters on July 31.

In related news, Katy Perry is set to return as the voice of Smurfette.

Mariah Carey went from the judging table to the stage on last night's American Idol finale.

The panelist - who will almost certainly be replaced next season - belted out a medley of hits and reminded fans why she is the most successful female vocalist in the history of music.

From "Hero" to "We Belong Together" to her latest single "#Beautiful," Carey was on top her lyrically impressive game.

Watch her do her talented thing now and then also check out former judge Jennifer Lopez and her finale rendition of "Live It Up."

She didn't take back her judging chair, but Jennifer Lopez did return to American Idol last night.

The beloved former judge performed with Pitbull on stage, moving and shaking and singing along to the track "Live It Up."

How did she do? Do you want to see J. Lo come back as a panelist? And is there any chance Season 12 champion Candice Glover can find this kind of commercial success?

Ponder those questions as you watch Lopez in action now:

The fans have spoken - and Carly Rae Jepsen has listen.

On last night's American Idol performance show (which pitted Candice Glover against Kree Harrison in their final stage showdown), Jepsen debuted the track "Take a Picture."

What made it so unusual?

As part of the Coca Cola Perfect Harmony contest, fans actually voted on everything from the single's lyrics to what Carly's backup dancers would be wearing. Did they make the right choices?

Watch here and decide for yourself:

She will not be a part of tonight's American Idol finale unfortunately, having failed to garner more votes than Candice Glover and Kree Harrison.

But third-place finisher Angie Miller will still make her presence felt later today... by releasing her debut single!

#YouSetMeFree will be RELEASED on #iTunes TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!! AHHHHH!!!! Sooo crazy!!! Get PUMPED!!! =D," Miller Tweeted yesterday.

The 19-year old wrote the track herself and sang it during her hometown visit a few weeks ago. Watch that live performance now:

Pssst, Kanye West: You may be dating the wrong person.

Following a paparazzi run-in that caused him to walk into a pole last week, the rapper WENT OFF on members of that industry during a show in NYC last night.

Kimye Sighting

"I'm a terrible, terrible celebrity," West said at the Adult Swim Upfront party. "I'm only up in the studio to make real sh-t… I don't want nobody coming up to me with cameras and sh-t… Selling pictures to a f--king magazine… Asking me dumb f--king questions ... Because I'm not a motherf--king celebrity."

Then maybe you shouldn't have knocked up Kim Kardashian? Who makes a living as a professional celebrity?

Chris Brown, whose new album embodies a "classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now," will collaborate with Aaliyah on his next single.

Wonder how she would feel about that if she were alive.

"They Don't Know" contains previously unheard vocals from the late singer, and Brown shot a music video for the song in Los Angeles last weekend.

"I shot it in the hood. I went to 60th Street and Cedar Block," Brown said.

Eazy-E and Ol' Dirty Bastard are about to perform live for the first time since ... well, they died. The rap legends will take the stage as holograms this fall!

Promoters for the annual "Rock the Bells" hip hop festival in September and October have announced a "virtual" Eazy and a "virtual" ODB will perform.

Better yet? Hologram Eazy-E will perform with living, breathing Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, while O.D.B. will appear alongside the Wu Tang Clan!

Family members have reportedly signed off for both holograms, and if they're half as good as Tupac at Coachella, the fans will likely approve as well:

Eminem's new album will feature Chris Rock, it looks like.

The comedian has finally broken his silence on his rumored trip to the studio with the rap icon, though we're still in the dark about what they're working on.

Rock let the cat out of the bag with this surprising pic:

Eminem, Chris Rock

"Yeah, yeah, but money does that," Chris jokingly said when an interviewer said Eminem looked younger in the photo. "I'm 65, man! [laughs]"

"Money is the best lotion in the world. [What were we doing?] I can't really say. I'm just saying, hey, you know, I've been on, hey, hey, I was on the Kanye record."

"Maybe I'm on the Eminem record. You never know!"
