The sexy drama at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards started tonight long before the first act took to the stage.

Amber Rose walked the red carpet of the annual event in a dress that left VERY little to the imagination, bringing to mind the gown donned by Rose McGowan at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.

We'll be updating the following gallery all throughout the evening, but check out Rose's dress below and then toggle around to see it from the back, along with other stars at the ceremony.

Your move, Miley Cyrus...

Iggy Azalea took an epic spill from the stage she was performing on Friday night, and she's lucky to be alright, because the fall looked pretty rough.

Two nights before the MTV Video Music Awards, Azalea was rapping her hit "Fancy" during a pre-VMA party at the Avalon when she lost sight of the stage.

As you can see from the video clip above, she went down HARD.

Fortunately for Iggy Iggs, she was not hurt by the fall, which clearly took the leggy Australian rapper by surprise and appeared to be from fairly high up.

Since "you already know" she's okay, it's okay to laugh. (Boooo.)

Even better, security helped the 24-year-old back onto the stage, where she laughed it up and received a huge ovation before carrying on like a champ.

Friday was a heck of a day for pre-VMA action. A Nicki Minaj "Anaconda" dancer was bitten by a snake at a rehearsal in addition to this Iggy incident.

A backup dancer working on the MTV Video Music Awards performance of Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" was bitten by one of the actual snakes during rehearsal Friday.

A six-foot-long boa constrictor named Rocky, who was being used as a prop, bit the dancer; Minaj was on stage and personally rushed to her dancer's side.

This Nicki Minaj GIF may cause many anacondas to grow in length. If you know what we mean!

According to MTV, the incident occurred when the dancer was carrying the huge snake draped around her shoulders. The music was immediately stopped.

Minaj rushed over asking, "Did she just get bit by the snake?"

The snake, which constricts is prey, is not venomous. The unidentified female was treated at the scene where her wound was cleaned and then hospitalized.

This was done to prevent bacterial infection "out of an abidance of caution," said Chris Velvin, director of production safety for MTV's parent company Viacom.

Remember when MTV (music television) actually used to play music videos on TV? Yeah, we do too. Pour one out for the good ol' days...

After three years of airing 'round-the-clock music, MTV unleashed a phenomenon known as Video Music Awards upon the world in 1984.

The idea? To celebrate the artists that brought our favorite tunes to life on the small screen and intersperse said awards with live performances from those very artists.

That was probably where MTV went wrong. Or very, very right.

What happened after that first very crazy VMA show in 1984 when Madonna's "Like a Virgin" took on new life was that the ante was summarily upped.

Every musical act to come would need to bring their A-Game if they'd make headlines the next morning. Plenty of them, from Madge to Miley, managed to do just fine.

In honor of the 30th MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night, let's take a walk down memory lane to relive the 17 craziest moments in VMA history ...

Like a Virgin
Madonna didn't intend to writhe around on the stage during her 1984 performance of "Like a Virgin." She lost one of her shoes and the rest became history.

For many years, in many different ways, Miley Cyrus made it clear that she was no longer Hannah Montana.

She posed sort of provocatively. She dropped all kinds of comments. She released more adult music.

But it wasn't until the 2013 Video Music Awards that fans fully saw the true nature of this new Miley, as she took to the stage alongside Robin Thicke... and made sure no one ever looked at a foam finger in the same way again.

In honor of Flashback Friday and of the 2014 Video Music Awards airing this Sunday on MTV, we're taking a look back at the Miley Cyrus performance that changed everything and we're asking:

Can anything possibly top it this year?!?

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's marriage began to unravel when - you guessed it - the entire world saw Miley Cyrus Twerking all over him at the VMAs.

Patton, who also famously praised his "Blurred Lines" video with a nude Emily Ratajkowski, put on a good front, insisting the Twerk-fest didn't bother her.

But it did. Sources say Patton felt "utterly disrespected" when Thicke virtually simulated sex with Miley Cyrus, and also by how he handled the fallout.

Miley Cyrus VMA Twerk

Paula got into a blow-out fight with Robin, telling him he insulted her before a national TV audience with that stunt, even though he didn't see it coming.

That's right, both Paula and Robin say Miley Cyrus Twerking on him was unplanned, an improvisation on her part. However, he ran with it, angering Patton.

It only went downhill after the buzzed-about show when Paula saw pics of Robin grabbing Lana Scolaro's butt, which she also downplayed at the time.

They argued constantly; Paula was furious that Robin kept partying with various women, very cozily at times and seemingly unconcerned with her feelings.

It reached the point of no return last week.

A$AP Rocky caused controversy with his apparently homophobic expressions and posturing at the MTV VMAs, but says nothing could be further from the truth.

Rocky looked uncomfortable as he and Jason Collins introduced Macklemore at the event. Collins spoke about being gay and expressing hope for acceptance.

A$AP then awkwardly promoted his new album once the NBA player, who recently made history by coming out as gay, had finished speaking.

In a new interview, however, Rocky says he regrets that night.

I’m mad that my facial expressions was like that because I’m not homophobic at all, and that whole thing just came off real homophobic,” the rapper said.

“I didn’t really notice it until I got home and saw it."

For the first time since shocking the world via foam finger, nude-colored underwear and a whole lot of Twerking, Miley Cyrus has spoken out on her MTV Video Music Awards performance.

Having already Tweeted a self-congratulatory note about the response on social media, Cyrus confirmed to MTV that she wasn't aiming to impress last Sunday ... but merely to be remembered.

Miley and Robin

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times," said the singer, explaining that she and Robin Thicke continually remarked that they were set to make "history."

She added, "How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?"
