Lady Gaga wore so little onstage at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, it should come as no surprise that she was barely dressed behind the scenes as well.

Granted, these Terry Richardson photos aren't as eye-popping as the Lady Gaga VMA outfit we saw, but that's because she wore the latter in public.

Still. There is Lady Gaga. In a thong.

Lady Gaga and Mom

Okay, the photo above is family friendly. Literally in her case. That's her mom with her before the show! But some of Terry's other pics are more risque.

Follow the jump for a couple of pictures of Lady Gaga nude (or close to it) that show just how that crazy performance came to be Sunday night:

Miley Cyrus Twerking, already one of the web's favorite pastimes, shocked and awed the world with last night's raunchy display at the Barclays Center.

Aggressively gyrating on Robin Thicke like a horny wild child possessed, the singer was the talk of a talked-about event ... for better or worse.

Miley Cyrus VMA Twerk

Miley pulled double duty at the event, performing a stuffed bear-themed version of "We Can't Stop," then joining Thicke for a rendition of his hit "Blurred Lines."

Only those lines weren't blurred ... they were crossed. Again and again and again.

Miles danced like a hyper-sexual human condom, one whose purpose in life is to slap butts, hump anything in sight and elicit arousal and/or laughter.

This was one for the ages, even by her standards. You can't unsee this stuff.

So follow the jump for the ultimate compilation of videos, GIFs and photos of Miley Cyrus Twerking at the Video Music Awards, like a woman possessed:

Lady Gaga's VMA performance Sunday was one to behold, largely for the outfit she donned ... which you can now see from a new, revealing angle!

Basically, she wore a thong and little else, as the above below illustrates, with an unobstructed, rear view vantage point of her talking to Joe Gordon-Levitt.

The two main takeaways here are as follows:

  1. We sort of hate Joe Gordon-Levitt.
  2. We love TMZ for posting this.

Amazingly, especially considering it's Gaga - this got relatively little attention compared to Miley Cyrus Twerking or whatever the heck that was.

The PTC did call her out too, at least. Phew.

Kelly Clarkson may have been joking around in her critique of the MTV Video Music Awards as including too many pitchy strippers, but The Parents Television Council does not see this as a laughing matter.

In a scathing rebuke of the network and the event, the PTC released a statement today that focused on a rating that somehow claimed the show was appropriate for kids as young as 14.

  • Lady Gaga VMA GIF

“MTV has once again succeeded in marketing sexually charged messages to young children using former child stars and condom commercials - while falsely rating this program as appropriate for kids as young as 14. This is unacceptable,” wrote PTC Director of Public Policy Dan Isett.

“This much is absolutely clear: MTV marketed adults-only material to children while falsely manipulating the content rating to make parents think the content was safe for their children."

As you might expect, the main subjects of the PTC's outage were Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.

Kelly Clarkson is not one to stir up any kind of controversy over the Internet.

But even this singer could not resist taking a dig at Miley Cyrus following that artist's ridiculous routine at the MTV Video Music Awards last night, taking to Twitter and hilarious writing:

“Just saw a couple performances from the VMA’s last night. 2 words…. #pitchystrippers.”

Granted, Clarkson did not name Miley by name - but did any other performer prance around with a fake penis while Twerking and wearing nude-colored underwear?

The Cyrus performance - both her own version of "We Can't Stop" and her raunchy duet with Robin Thicke on "Blurred Lines" - is making waves across the World Wide Web.

But for the right reasons? Or did Miley go too far? Sound off now: What did you think of her time on stage at the VMAs?

If Miley Cyrus was looking to make news at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, she accomplished that goal.

If she were looking to leave viewers with a positive impression, well... consider the Twitter reaction to her pair of raunchy performances.

Miley danced seductively with giant stuffed bears. She thrusted her crotch, using a foam finger as a penis. She bent WAY over for Robin Thicke.

Overall, the 20-year old tried desperately to prove that she's edgy and sexy and mature, but perhaps she tried a little too hard, leaving many in attendance - such as Rihanna and One Direction - to wonder: What the heck was that?!?

What did you think of Miley's performance, considering she still is only 20 years old and she still does have some young fans out there.

Did Cyrus go too far with her lewd antics?

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards was a virtual who's who of OMG moments, show-stopping celebs and electrifying musical renditions of the hits we love.

But which all-star performance shone brightest on Sunday night?

Justin Timberlake VMA Performance Photo

From Miley Cyrus Twerking and gyrating on Robin Thicke, to Lady Gaga and Katy Perry opening up and closing out the show, the women of pop turned heads.

From Justin Timberlake's career-spanning medley and N Sync reunion to Drake, Kanye, Macklemore and Bruno, the men certainly put on a show as well.

Something for everyone, but if you had to pick, THGers, tell us:

Which MTV VMA performance do you think was best?

Last night's N Sync reunion was the talk of the music world, but it looks definitively like a one-off. The fierce five are done once again after that effort.

While N Sync came together as a part of Justin Timberlake's performance, in honor of his Vanguard Award, there is no talk of reforming the band.

Joey Fatone‘s dad, Joseph Fatone, Sr., said “People are hyping this [reunion] as to mean like next month they’ll go on tour, but there’s been no talk of it."

“Yes there are still fanatical fans who hope for one day that N Sync will get back together, but the truth is that they are all doing their own thing now.”

“I don’t think they should pump this up as much. It’s not like they’re going on tour.”

Bruno Mars' live performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night may not have gotten the attention of some others, but was it the best?

The singer treated the Barclays Center crowd to a rendition of "Gorilla," wearing a leopard-print button-down as beams of neon-green lights rained down:

Mars, accompanied by a horn section on his jazzy new song, marked one of the night's tamer moments, even as blasts of fire erupted during the chorus.

When you're going up against Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and the abomination that is Miley Cyrus, the bar has been set awfully high ... or low. Hard to say.

In any case, with the possible exception of Justin Timberlake, Mars offered a level of talent and a brand of artistry unmatched by the bulk of the telecast.

The singer performed immediately following his win for Best Male Video. Watch it above and tell us, who was the best performer of the evening?

They may have have won Best Song of the Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards, but the celebration was short-lived for One Direction last night.

The British boy band was actually booed on stage.

But at least the insulting reception from the crowd in Brooklyn resulted in a cool backstage meeting for Harry Style (who was himself told to STFU up by Taylor Swift) and company, as Lady Gaga actually made a point to seek them out and offer her support.

“I just want to tell you that you deserve every bit of success that you have," Gaga tells One Direction in the following video. It's pretty cool.

Watch now to hear the entire exchange:
