He may not have worn a dress made out of meat, or sang a song aimed at Kanye West, but Justin Bieber made his own impressive impression on MTV viewers last night.

The 16-year old was named Best New Artist and proceeded to show why with a medley of three classic songs.

Introduced outside of L.A.'s Nokia Theatre by Kim Kardashian, Bieber was full of energy as he bounded on stage, fell into the arms of (lucky!!!) backup dancers and showed off his drum-playing skills.

It was all part of a medley that included snippets of "U Smile," "Baby" and "Somebody to Love." But don't just read about this artist's fun antics. Watch them for yourself in the video below!

While the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards lacked the shock value Kanye West provided last year, or the humor Russell Brand and other hosts who are actually funny bring to the table, Chelsea Handler did offer a few memorable moments.

The award show began with an opening sketch featuring none other than Lindsay Lohan staging an impromptu intervention of sorts, confronting the Handler about her drinking. Hey, if anyone knows how boozing can ruin your career ...

A very special episode of Jersey Shore preceded Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards. Then its cast members made a special appearance on the white carpet.

When it comes to style, Ronnie Magro, Mike Sorrentino (The Situation) and Paul DelVecchio (Pauly D) certainly have their own. And industrial quantities of gel.

Which star looked best (or least bad) last night? Vote below!

While some celebs, such as Justin Bieber and Usher, dressed a bit flashier at the MTV Video Music Awards, Drake and Justin Timberlake kept it simple in black.

Hey, when you're as handsome as these fellas, you can totally rock that look, whether it's in a leather jacket or a suit. With the top button undone, of course.

Who looked better, though? You decide in our survey below ...

Taylor Swift may have stolen many of the headlines at the MTV Video Music Awards, due to her Kanye West-inspired performance, but two other young female artists also graced the white carpet.

Selena Gomez and Miranda Cosgrove posed for photographers at the event, each choosing a vastly different dress than the other. But that's what makes a THG Fashion Face-Off so exciting.

Do you go with the shimmering silver, or the ruffled blue? Strapless or strapped? Cleavage-baring or cleave-covering? Compare. Contrast. Vote.

Was this the song written for Taylor Swift?

At last night's MTV Video Awards, Kanye West introduced "Runaway" to the crowd, a single that started with the rapper going solo on a synthesizer before chanting: "You've been putting up with my s–– for way too long."

A week prior to the event, in an effort to apologize for last year's VMA catastrophe, West said he had penned a song for Swift. It's unclear if this was actually it, as subsequent lyrics included:

"Let's have a toast for the douchebags. Let's have a toast for the a------s. Let's have a toast for the scumbags. Let's have a toast for the jerkoffs. Baby, I got a plan. Runaway fast as you can."

Listen to Kanye's "Runaway" below and then compare it to Taylor's "Innocent," which also premiered at the ceremony and which was likely meant as a response to West. What an unexpected rivalry/friendship, huh?

MTV viewers saw a new side to Taylor Swift at last night's Video Music Awards.

The singer went dark and serious for "Innocent," a song off her upcoming album, "Speak Now." Many believe it was written and performance as a response to Kanye West and the embarrassing incident that took place at last year's ceremony.

Check out the lyrics and rendition below and decide for yourself...

Sang Swift at the event:

"Lost your balance on the tight rope/it's never too late to get it back... Today is never too late to be brand new... Every one of us has messed up too. I hope you remember today's never too late...to be friends with you....You're still an innocent."

If it weren't followed by the likes of Lady Gaga's meat dress, Rihanna's hippie-style getup at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards might have garnered more attention.

Seriously, what is she going for here? Yikes. She was pretty awesome performing alongisde Eminem, though, so she shined where it counted most. As for Ciara?

Mugler Shot

We expect she's the odds-on favorite in this style showdown. That black dress is straight love, sex and magic. Whose VMA fashion do you like better? Vote:

Usher believes that God sent him Justin Bieber as a protege.

But will the hip hop artist be so grateful and spiritual if his young friend defeats him in the following fashion face-off? That's the question, folks. Compare the two artists in black below and cast your vote:

Who looked best on the white carpet?

Audrina Patridge and Lo Bosworth are not musicians. Rather, they are MTV reality stars whose mere existence caused the network to stop playing music videos, which it pretends to honor in its annual Video Music Awards. Irony.

Anyway, which star of the mercifully-completed Hills looked better on the white carpet Sunday night? Audrina Patridge is looking a little gaunt, don't you think? Lo's always a cutie, but what's going on with that hair? Tell us ...
