There appears to be a disturbance in the force of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Michael Arndt - the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 - will no longer pen the script for this wildly anticipated 2015 release.

Instead, that duty will fall to J.J. Abrams and Raiders of the Lost Ark scribe Lawrence Kasdan.

Star Wars Scene

Abrams, of course, is also directing the blockbuster, while Kasdan wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement:

“I am very excited about the story we have in place and thrilled to have Larry and J.J. working on the script. There are very few people who fundamentally understand the way a Star Wars story works like Larry, and it is nothing short of incredible to have him even more deeply involved in its return to the big screen. J.J. of course is an incredible storyteller in his own right.

"Michael Arndt has done a terrific job bringing us to this point and we have an amazing filmmaking and design team in place already prepping for production.”

It hasn't exactly received the same coverage as Jamie Dornan landing the role of Christian Grey, but Tom Hardy will portray Elton John in an upcoming biopic about the legendary artist.

The Wrap confirmed this casting news late yesterday, reporting that Hardy will anchor Rocktman, a film that will go into production about a year from now and which will be directed by Michael Gracey.

Rocketman will chronicle the entire life of John, from his early days as a child prodigy to his current role as a musical icon.

John is expected to re-record many of his original hits to parallel the emotional beats of the movie.

Sir Isaac Newton was right: there is no stopping Gravity.

The Sandra Bullock-anchored drama finished first at the box office once again this week, sailing past the $170 million mark after just 17 days in release.

The movie is now the tenth highest-grossing domestic film of 2010 and should easily clear $250 million in the U.S. before its run is over. Globally, Gravity has already earned $284.8 million.

Elsewhere, Captain Phillips grossed $17.3 million and sat once again in second place, while mixed Carrie reviews may contributed to a disappointing opening for this horror remake.

Gravity continued to soar above the box office competition this weekend.

The Alfonso Cuarón-directed drama, which broke an October revenue record last week, blew past the $100 mark on Saturday and has now earned $123.4 in 10 days.

It's already the fourth and third highest-grossing film for stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, respectively. And with positive Gravity reviews continuing to pour in, who knows where it will stop?

Another Oscar hopeful, Captain Phillips, came in second place over the weekend, grossing a respectable $26 million and landing as Tom Hanks' biggest debut since Angels & Demons.
