Bobby Brown is not the only person reportedly looking to profit off Whitney Houston's death.

According to Great Britain's The Daily Mail, plans for a Whitney biopic - which existed when the singer was still alive - are being fast-tracked, and a number of big names are lining up for the main role.

  • Rihanna Cleave
  • Jennifer Hudson on Good Morning America

The leading contender? Rihanna, with Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson and Vivica A. Fox also allegedly up for consideration.

"Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead," an insider says, comparing the film to What's Love Got To Do With It, a Tina Turner biopic that landed two Oscar nominations for Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne.

Who do you think should portray Houston if this movie goes into production?

Dame Judi Dench has been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration, a condition associated with old age that is characterized by damage to one's retina and, more often than not, leads to blindness.

"I can't read scripts any more because of the trouble with my eyes," the veteran actress tells the U.K.'s Mirror. "And so somebody comes in and reads them to me, like telling me a story."

Dench has undergone treatment for the disease, but there's no definitive cure.

She'll next appear in the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall, and says she has no plans of ending her career.

"As long as there is a possibility of working, I'm not going to retire," Dench says. "If I retire, nothing will work any more, and it's hard enough as it is."

The Vow and Safe House were neck and neck at the box office this weekend, but Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds' action flick narrowly eked out a #1 showing.

In the second weekends in theaters for both, Safe House pulled in $24 million while The Vow, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams grossed $23.6 million.

Last week, The Vow was #1 with $41.2 million to Safe House's $40.2 million.

Nicholas Cage's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance made its debut at #3, making $22 million. Josh Hutcherson's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island made $20 million.

A not-so-great debut at the box office? Reese Witherspoon's This Means War, which was reportedly held for a week because of the anticipation for The Vow.

It held down the #5 spot with $17.5 million.

The 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards awarded The Help three top honors in what came as no surprise to most observers and fans of the Academy Award-nominated picture.

The film received another boost heading into next Sunday's Oscars, winning Outstanding Motion Picture as well as wins for actresses Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.

The ceremony Friday at the Shrine Auditorium, which honored diversity in the arts, was punctuated by moving tributes to Whitney Houston and George Lucas.

Davis and Spencer also won at the SAG Awards this winter.

Yolanda Adams performed the spiritual song "I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry" as part of a tribute to pop superstar Houston, who died last week at the age of 48.

As part of the tribute to Lucas, Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo performed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" while Red Tails director Lucas sang along from his seat.

Hudson also claimed the outstanding album prize for I Remember Me.

Other winners announced during the two-hour telecast included a pair of TV stars, Regina King for her role in SouthLAnd and LL Cool J for NCIS: Los Angeles.

Is a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project in the works?

Reports say Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman is in negotiations to direct an upcoming live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot for Paramount.

Liebesman's resume includes Darkness Falls and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning ... so expect a darker chapter from the Green Machine, apparently.

TMNT

Other details that have been revealed on the TMNT reboot thus far:

  • Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form will be producing the movie
  • Alias writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are penning the script
  • TMNT will now stand for The Middle-aged Ninja Turtles (kidding)
  • Vanilla Ice will have a rapping cameo again (also kidding)

What do you think? Are you excited for what looks like the return of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo to the big screen?

Who you gonna call? Not Bill Murray. Ghostbusters 3 is being actively pursued by writer / star Dan Aykroyd, but his co-star does not want any part of it apparently.

The Ghostbusters retired ages ago, after a 1984 hit film, 1989 sequel, and two animated TV shows. But talk of another film has been rekindled of late.

In a webcast with Empire magazine, Dan Aykroyd implied he and co-star Rick Moranis were actively working to bring Ghostbusters 3 to theaters.

Ghostbusters Pic

"If we can get the script to 'Ghostbusters 3' right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component," said Aykroyd of the potential project.

"None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant.”

He also responded to questions that another star, Bill Murray, wasn’t into the idea, denying reports that Murray actually shredded a potential script.

Murray also allegedly said “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts.” Replied Dan, “Bill Murray is not capable of such behavior."
