Michael Douglas is 68 years old and is married to a gorgeous 43-year old.

And now we know why.

In a very revealing interview with The Guardian, the veteran actor touched on a number of topics, including his 2010 throat cancer diagnosis.

"Without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus," Douglas told the newspaper.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has left rehab and is "raring to go," according to a very reliable source: husband Michael Douglas.

For the second time in two years, the Oscar winner checked herself into a treatment facility late last month to deal with issues related to Bipolar Disorder, but Douglas spoke to Extra from Cannes last night and said of his wife:

"Catherine's doing wonderful. She's got herself worked out with her meds."

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas

Like Demi Lovato, Zeta-Jones has been open with her struggles, Doulgas says, because she wants to de-stigmatize the concept of mental illness. She also wants to control the news about her.

"There are so many outlets, so it's better you get out in front of it tell your story before it becomes gossip," the actor said.

We admire how candid Catherine has been and we wish her nothing but the best.

Is throat-cancer survivor Michael Douglas smoking again, just months after enduring grueling treatment for the disease? Star and Radar say he is.

The photos appear in the new issue of the celebrity gossip tabloid and were allegedly taken July 21. He is shown on a yacht in Porto Venere, Italy.

The legendary actor is clearly smoking in the cover photo, and in more images inside the magazine. The question is when they were really taken.

Michael Douglas Cancer Shocker!

Michael Douglas went through chemotherapy and radiation last year, bravely beating cancer, making these new photos - if legit - even more stunning.

The oldest, easiest trick in the tabloid book is the file photo, though. Using an old or misleading image to make a cover stand out is par for the course.

We can't guarantee that's what's going on here, but we also wouldn't bet against that. It's worth noting that he was a heavy smoker prior to 2010.

There's also the possibility that he was smoking medicinal marijuana, but even that would still expose Douglas to potentially damaging side effects.

Douglas has yet to comment about the photos.

Michael Douglas will attend the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday, marking the actor's first public appearance since declaring himself cancer-free.

But the actor will be doing more than just walking the red carpet in the near future: he's ready to get back to work. For his next role, Douglas will take on the flamboyant musician, Liberace.

“I’ve been watching a lot of tapes of him," he told People. “He wasn’t the greatest dancer nor the greatest singer, but he was a great pianist and entertainer.”

Douglas says he'll take piano lessons for the film, which will likely be released next year some time.

At the Golden Globes, meanwhile, the veteran star is up for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Following what he describes as a "wild six-month ride," Michael Douglas delivered wonderful news to Matt Lauer this week: his tumor is gone!

The veteran actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in August. He underwent weeks of radiation and chemotherapy and tells Lauer, in an interview that will air tomorrow morning, "the tumor is gone."

Michael Douglas on Today

"The odds are, with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer, that I've got it beat," says the actor.

Douglas will still have to see the doctor on a monthly basis, but says his appetite is back and he's gradually gaining the weight he lost during his illness. What has he learned/experienced?

"All of a sudden the affection from my family, from my friends, and from my fans hit me at a much deeper level than I would have ever imagined before. And it gave me a really new appreciation of just how valuable, how precious good friends are and family."

Michael Douglas is not cancer-free just yet.

But the Oscar-winning actor, who was diagnosed in August, tells People he feels "stronger everyday," as he continues to undergo treatment, recognizing: "It's a long road back."

Part of that road involves prepping for his next role. The 66-year old will take the title role in Liberace, a biopic directed by Steven Soderbergh.

"I've got a bunch of tapes of performances," he said of the real-life character. "I'm thinking; I'm a blank slate. Everything shows me he was a lovely man; I just want to reconfirm that."

The movie stars shooting this spring, which should give Douglas plenty more time to spend with his family. He spent Thanksgiving weekend with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their kids at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.
