There have been so many shocking celebrity divorces lately, even by Hollywood standards. Not just breakups, but actual marriages crumbling before our eyes.

Some did surprise us more than others, but we can honestly say we didn't see any of these divorce filings - all from the last 12 months alone! - coming at all.

Which celebrity divorce filing shocked you most?

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are getting along much better these days, but don't bank on a reconciliation in their marriage - rings or no rings.

While Internet reports that Shriver is wearing a suspicious ring on her finger fueled rumors of them getting back together, there's a different explanation.

The ring on Shriver's left hand is actually her late mother's. Shriver has been wearing the engagement ring since Eunice Kennedy Shriver's death in 2009.

As for rumors that Shriver is having second thoughts about divorcing Schwarzenegger, due to her religious beliefs, a source close to the couple denies it.

"The reports of a reconciliation are not true," says the source.

The former couple, who announced their separation after 25 years, still spend quality time as a family with kids Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher.

They announced their separation last year after Shriver learned Arnold knocked up their longtime housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena - over a decade ago.

Most recently, Shriver and Schwarzenegger enjoyed Christmas with the kids in L.A., and attended the L.A. Lakers' season opener game that afternoon.

While it appears their divorce is still on, "Arnold and Maria will always come together when it comes to supporting and loving their children," says an insider.

Maria Shriver is now unsure if she wants to divorce Arnold Schwarzenegger.

According to sources close to the couple, Shriver is torn about whether to proceed with the split, partly because of her strong religious beliefs that do not include divorce, and for even more obvious reasons - the couple's four children.

Moreover, Arnold still desperately wants Maria back, and has been "extremely sweet" to her, making numerous gestures (including presents) to try to win Maria back.

The Expendables 2 star, for his part, has been hoping to reconcile from the moment the couple split, though it looked like a lost cause, given his infidelities.

Maria filed for divorce on July 1, though she moved out months earlier. She's already bought a mansion in Brentwood, Calif., which she's in the process of renovating.

Shriver was reportedly unhappy for years, but the revelation that Arnold had a love child with housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena years ago was the last straw.

Katherine Schwarzenegger, the eldest of Arnold and Maria Shriver's four kids, opened up about her famous parents' recent split in Harper's Bazaar.

She believes that "everything happens for a reason," however "a lot of the time, it's hard to understand in the moment why things are happening."

It hasn't been easy for the 21-year-old or her siblings.

Katherine says she considered changing her last name because of the ordeal, given the notoriety it brought even before her dad's love child scandal.

"I thought of changing it because, especially for dating, it's impossible. It's something I deal with every day, and I am hyper-conscious about it."

Of people bringing up he dad, she jokes, "It's like, 'Do you want to date my father, or do you want to date me? Like, I can arrange that for you.'"

Probably the best message for Arnold Schwarzenegger to sport on a t-shirt while bike riding in Santa Monica Sunday, given how badly he betrayed his wife.

According to TMZ, which took these photos, they did some digging and learned that the former Governor got the shirt at a farewell party for the staff last year.

In other words, before their marriage unraveled.

The shirts were designed by Maria's staff, as a joke. The one they gave Arnold had 2007 (the year most of the staff members started working for him) crossed out and 1977 (the year they started dating) scribbled above.

Wearing it in public is a surprise move, but it's entirely unrelated to the scandal, and despite the tumultuous last few months, Arnold and Maria remain on very amicable terms as they hammer out their impending divorce.

Just over a month after filing for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver accompanied her soon-to-be-former-spouse to lunch Saturday.

The occasion? His 64th birthday!

As they dined at Barney's in Beverly Hills, Shriver and Schwarzenegger were joined by two of their four kids, sons Patrick and Christopher.

Christopher Schwarzenegger, 13, was released from the hospital Tuesday after a bodysurfing accident. He's going to make a full recovery.

After lunch, the pair - who have been estranged since his affair with Mildred Patricia Baena was exposed - were seen shopping, as well.

While Arnold initially refused to pay Maria spousal support in his divorce papers (he later changed his tune and revised the documents), Shriver picked up the lunch tab, ordering the birthday boy an espresso to boot.

Nice to see they're keeping things amicable.

Maria Shriver has instructed her attorney, Laura Wasser, to hammer out the terms of her divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger as quickly as possible.

The purpose of Shriver's request is twofold: 1. To keep things as amicable as can be between the couple, and 2. So she can get back to work ASAP.

Maria filed for divorce from Arnold in early July, and under California law, a divorce can be final as early as six months from the date of filing.

Shriver is very eager to get back to work, a source close to the family says, but feels that the ongoing drama of her divorce could be a distraction.

"Maria wants the divorce to be final so she can get back to work, and move on All of the major networks have approached her," said the source.

"She hasn't made any decision yet. Maria doesn't want any job to impede on time she spends with Christopher, and Patrick, who live with her."

Despite their impending divorce and all the upheaval in their lives, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger are forming a united front this week.

"A few days ago our son Christopher suffered an accident at the beach," the estranged duo said in a statement after Christopher was hospitalized.

"While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery."

Christopher, 13, was boogie boarding on Sunday in Malibu, when something went wrong and he suffered a collapsed lung, broken bones and broken ribs.

Maria was with him on the beach at the time of the accident, says the source. His parents extend their gratitude to those providing their son's care.

"On behalf of our entire family, we sincerely thank the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as all the doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for our son," the statement continues.

"They have been extraordinary to him and to us. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and ask for respect and privacy for our family."

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's 13-year-old son Christopher is in the hospital after suffering a serious surfing accident last weekend.

The exact nature of his injury and his present condition are not known, but it was so serious he has been in ICU for days, according to reports.

Christopher suffered multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung as a result of the accident in Malibu, Calif. Maria has been by Chris' side.

It's been a rough stretch for Shriver, who is simultaneously in the process of divorcing Arnold in the wake of the Mildred Patricia Baena love child scandal.

We wish Chris a full, speedy recovery.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has responded to Maria Shriver's divorce filing and the actor says that he will not pay spousal support, as she requested.

Arnold's lawyer, Bob Kaufman, checked the box on legal documents asking the judge to terminate Maria's right to receive any spousal support. 

Like Maria, Arnold seeks joint custody of their two minor children.

The other conflict between the two concerns legal fees. Maria is asking Arnold to pay for hers. Arnold's response asks that she pay her own way.

As there is no prenup, under California law, Arnold and Maria can claim a 50/50 split of all earnings and assets accumulated during their marriage.

The two are estimated to be worth around $400 million.

As it stands right now, Arnold will get the very expensive family home, while Maria will probably end up with at least as much if not more cash.

Spousal support may become a non-issue, given her wealth, and that Arnold - who was just cast in Last Stand - isn't earning real money now.
