Up until last week, Marc Anthony hoped to reconciliation with his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez, only to learn she was madly in love with new BF Casper Smart.

Marc filed for divorce Monday, nine months after the couple separated.

Sources indicate that Anthony didn't make the decision on his own, really. He wanted J. Lo back and had a heart-to-heart with her about giving it another shot.

Anthony reportedly make his intentions clear and asked to give the marriage another try, but Jennifer confessed tht she was "deeply in love" with Casper.

She said she wanted to pursue that relationship, and that was that.

Marc was blindsided, according to insiders, because while she and Casper Smart have been an item for some time, he had no idea things were so serious.

He was hurt, and has now filed for divorce, officially.

You gotta feel for the guy ... but on the flip side, they did split up for a reason, and by all accounts mutually. He's also been seeing Shannon De Lima.

Almost nine months after their separation, Marc Anthony has filed for divorce from Jennifer Lopez in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week.

The catch-all "irreconcilable differences" box was checked.

Anthony's filing seeks joint legal and physical custody of the couple's twins, Emme and Max, 4, and that the judge dismiss any spousal support for Lopez.

Should she ask for it, that is, which is doubtful. This is likely a formality to make legal a split that has for all intents and purposes been settled already.

The duo married in 2004 and announced their breakup in July, but seem to have kept things amicable, at least when it comes to their reality show, Q'Viva!

Both have had relatively little to say about it publicly, but Anthony spoke out about the split afterward, and according to him, "It wasn't shocking."

It wasn't long before they moved on, either.

Marc has started dating a 24-year-old Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima and Lopez has become inseparable with backup dancer Casper Smart.

It could all be an act... but, then again, neither Jennifer Lopez nor Marc Anthony are very good actors.

The former couple, presumed to be fighting ever since their divorce, appeared on Ellen yesterday in promotion of their reality competition ¡Q’Viva! The Chosen - and they seemed to get along swimmingly, laughing and joking and talking about their kids.

"Emme loves to dance," Lopez said of one twin. "She loves to perform. I’ll be honest. I think Emme has a bit of voice. I do. I’m not sure but I kind of hear it every once in a while. I’m not sure about Max as much, but he has a big personality. He’s got like, my personality. Maybe Emme has Marc’s voice. We traded."

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are back together. On the small screen, at least.

The former couple premiered Q'Viva: The Chosen last night, a talent search competition on Univision that finds this pair (along with concert director Jaime King) traveling around Latin America in search of the most impressive acts to eventually showcase in a Las Vegas showcase.

"We're just meant to be in each other's lives on different levels," Anthony says of working with his ex-wife. "This is a long story, it's not a short story.... Marriage was just one chapter... And kids are another. We've got each other for life."

This is a much calmer tone than the one Anthony has reportedly struck in the past, as reports have said he's angry J. Lo has moved on with Casper Smart and that he wants to make her suffer.

At one point on the premiere, while in Puerto Rico, Loepez and Anthony joked about being akin to "Sonny and Cher after the divorce," with Jennifer saying she has "bad memories" of filming a movie together and Anthony responding:

"We've always been like this even when we were together. Busting each other's chops."

There have been so many shocking celebrity divorces lately, even by Hollywood standards. Not just breakups, but actual marriages crumbling before our eyes.

Some did surprise us more than others, but we can honestly say we didn't see any of these divorce filings - all from the last 12 months alone! - coming at all.

With Jennifer Lopez getting hot and heavy with Casper Smart, we can now confirm that Marc Anthony has also found himself a new love interest: Venezuelan model Shannon De Lima.

How can we be so certain? Because Anthony isn't doing anything to hide the relationship, posting a Tweet to De Lima today that translates to: "To Shannon, my status of liberty. Kisses baby!" 

Anthony's son, Chase, meanwhile, did his dad one better. The young one Tweeted: "To all my followers and all Twitter peeps, follow the best couple of 2012 and for many for years Marc Anthony and Shannon De Lima!"

In light of his ex moving on with 24-year old backup dancer Casper Smart, Marc Anthony has reportedly also found a young, attractive new dating partner.

Sources tell Life & Style that the singer "is dating" Mexican supermodel Adriana Ontiveros, as he was seen with her at the December 11 Miami Dolphins game.

"They exited the stadium via a private entrance and stepped out of the elevator together," a witness says. "They were holding hands, and he seemed very comfortable with her. He wasn't flaunting it."

Ontiveros appeared in a recent music video for crooner Alejandro Fernandez, who introduced the new couple. She might want to watch out for new beau's temper, though. Insiders say he has been flipping out over Lopez and Smart's relationship.

The divorce between Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony may have started off amicably enough... but the former's relationship with backup dancer Casper Smart has thrown a contentious wrench into the couple's split.

Following reports that Anthony was throwing tantrums over J. Lo moving on so quickly, the latest issue of Us Weekly states that Anthony is set to cause major problems between the pair.

After initially ceding primary custody to the American Idol judge, Anthony is now "going back on his word and saying his wants joint custody," an insider tells the tabloid.

Why would Anthony use the former couple's twins in such a manner? The answer is simple, says this source: "He wants to make Jennifer suffer because she's having fun with someone new, and he knows this will hurt her on the deepest level."

Overall, the divorce is "getting vicious," the magazine reports.

With the relationship between Casper Smart and Jennifer Lopez heating up, source say the latter's ex-husband is boiling over.

Us Weekly reports that Anthony is "going nuts" over J. Lo moving on so quickly with her 24-year old backup dancer, "throwing fits and tantrums" and losing "a lot of weight" over the last few weeks.

But apparently Anthony isn't the only one taking issue with Smart.

The tabloid has also talked to friends of  Lopez who aren't sure if Casper is the right man for her, either. Says one insider of these pals, and of the star with three marriages on her record:

"They don't feel Casper is good enough for her. They are worried because she really puts her heart out there for love."

Despite rumors that link Jennifer Lopez to her back-up dancer, sources tell Us Weekly this singer spent a night alone with ex-husband Marc Anthony on November 8, as J. Lo touched down in Puerto Rico in honor of the former couple's talent competition Q'Viva! The Chosen.

Anthony picked Lopez at the airport and "Marc never stayed in his hotel room," an insider says... if we know what he or she means!

Describing the divorce as an emotional "roller coaster" for both parties, the mole says future hook-ups are also "inevitable" because Anthony "has this hold" over his ex. Still, another friend wants to make it clear:

"They may sleep together, but they're over!"

Sure. And sometimes they're under. And sometimes they're side-by-side or upside down. We get it.
