Lil' Wayne Arrested on Drug Charges ... Again

Few can match Lil' Wayne in terms of pure mug shot production.

Snoop Dogg and Riley Giles. That's it. Kumari Fulbright may have the best single celebrity mug shot, but she's not as prolific as the aforementioned duo.

But that's another debate. Back to Lil' Wayne's most recent run-in with the law, which occurred last night and produced this pair of mug shot gems...

Law enforcement officials say that Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., was arrested near Yuma, Arizona last night on three felony counts:

  1. Possession of dangerous drugs
  2. Possession of narcotics
  3. Possession of drug paraphernalia

No clue how exactly #1 differs from #2, but TMZ says the Drug Enforcement Agency was involved in the troubled rapper's arrest. That means it's not a Lil' Problem - which we hear is the name of Wayne's cousin.

The rapper is in the custody of the Yuma County Sheriff's Department, where he'll be held pending his arraignment at 9:00 a.m. PST.

UPDATE: Lil' Wayne has been hit with some big charges - namely possession of cocaine, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia. He could be in jail a lil' while.

Wayne was arrested with two others who have been charged with possession of marijuana. Cops say they found 105 grams of pot, 29 grams of cocaine and 41 grams of ecstasy on his tour bus - after it stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint.

Police also found $22,000 in cash and a 40-caliber pistol, but Lil Wayne evidently does have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Florida. They are checking to see if that carries over to Arizona. A judge set his bond at $10,000.

Lil Wayne was also arrested in Idaho last year for possession of drugs.

L'il Wayne, Big Jerk: Rapper Stiffs Kids at Concert

Lil Wayne PictureThings aren't going all that well for L'il Wayne these days.

Two weeks after getting arrested after a show, the troubled rapper flaked on a show last night in North Carolina, according to TMZ.

Promoted as a "Stop the Violence" event, the concert was inspired by eight recent gang-related murders in the small community of Wilmington, N.C.

Lil' Wayne was supposed to be the main draw, as ministers and local celebrities took the stage and spoke out against violence.

They were expecting a crowd of around 3,000 people who had paid $40 for floor seats and $30 for balcony - but only about 1,000 kids showed up.

There were multiple reasons for the small crowd - including Lil' Wayne's legal troubles - and that the concert was canceled, then rescheduled.

As a result of the low turnout, Lil' Wayne, who had been paid a part of his fee up front, was now not going to receive a couple of thousand dollars.

The rapper then sat backstage for three hours waiting for a crowd to arrive. When the crowd didn't grow, about 80 sheriffs and officers offered to raise the money themselves to get L'il Wayne to perform - but no dice.

The extra dough couldn't be raised until Monday, unfortunately, which wasn't good enough for the great L'il Wayne, who bailed without appearing.

Mitchell Entertainment Group - who fought to make the concert happen and to have Lil' Wayne appear - now must deal with refunding tens of thousands of dollars to irate concertgoers. And we thought T.I. was public enemy #1.

Lil Wayne Arrested After Concert; Fans Pissed

Some stories, such as Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon getting married, really come out of the blue. Others, such as Lil Wayne getting arrested, don't.

The B-list hip-hop star was arrested in Boise, Idaho, on a felony fugitive charge after authorities in Georgia accused him of possessing a controlled substance.

The 25-year-old rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was arrested after his Friday concert at Qwest Arena and booked into the Ada County jail.

Because of the type of charge, Lil Wayne was not eligible for bond and was not released in time to make his typical Saturday night concert. Shame.

After his arrest, the jail was bombarded with dozens of angry phone calls from Lil Wayne fans, of which apparently there are many, as well as from concert promoters.

"Every other phone call that we've picked up have been about him â€" people who have tickets wanting to know where his concert will be, people calling to see if it's true that he's incarcerated," said a deputy who didn't want her name used.

Lil Wayne is scheduled to be formally charged Tuesday and will be asked at that point if he plans to waive his extradition to Georgia, authorities said.

An e-mail to Lil Wayne's publicist at Universal Music was not returned. Carter's previous brushes with the law include a 2005 drug arrest in Atlanta, and another bust for weed and prescription drugs in August 2006.

His "Tha Carter II" album, released in 2005, has sold about 2 million copies worldwide. He recently was voted "Hottest MC in the Game" by a panel at MTV.

Speaking of prestigious honors, The Hollywood Gossip recently named Kanye West the most talented and egomaniacal rapper in the industry.

Lil Wayne Arrested For a Lil Weed, Prescription Drugs

Rapper Lil Wayne was arrested Monday in Atlanta on charges of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, according to a copy of his arrest report obtained by MTV.

That Brim is Looking a Lil Flat

Police claim the rapper was in possession of Alprazolam (a generic form of Xanax), which is used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks, as well as 59 pills of hydrocodone, along with "two small burnt joints of marijuana," the report read.

Yo, that combination will totally f*%k you up!

The 23-year-old, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter (get it -- that's where he gets "Wayne" from) was released from Georgia's Fulton County Jail on $11,000 bond following his arrest.

According to his arrest report, the rapper was staying at the Twelve Hotel in Atlanta's Atlantic Station when a hotel employee entered Carter's room to inspect a problem with the room's security systems. The employee said he noticed a gallon-size bag of what he believed to be marijuana; he also told police he smelled what appeared to be a "heavy odor of marijuana."

This guy and Pete Doherty should really hang out!

The hotel's manager was summoned to the room and also claimed he smelled the chron. Carter told both men to vacate his room, shut the door and fastened the security latch. Police were called shortly after, and the rest is history. Or something.
Officers entered Carter's room and began to search it, as the arrest report said Wayne gave his consent for them to enter. Inside a small duffel bag, police found the prescription pills. The marijuana joints were uncovered in the room's garbage can, and a small amount of marijuana was discovered in the room's refrigerator.

SIDE NOTE: Why is "Lil" such a common and apparently cool thing these days? There's Lil Jon, Lil Bow Wow, Lil Flip, Lil Luke D (a friend of T.H. Gossip). We just don't get it.

Anyway, Wayne/Carter, who hails from New Orleans, has released five albums over the course of his career. His most recent LP, 2005's Tha Carter II, debuted at #2 on Billboard's album sales chart and has since racked up more than 1 million in sales. Here's hoping he can beat the rap and keeps cranking out the hits!
