Nas to Pay Kelis $44K Per Month

Things are looking up Kelis. A day after welcoming a baby boy, the singer was awarded nearly $44,000 in monthly support from her ex Nas at a hearing Thursday.

That's enough to cover more than half her $80,000 in expenses! Go, Kelis!

The "Milkshake" provider filed for divorce from the rapper in April while she was seven months pregnant. Nas, who was not there as she welcomed son Knight in NYC, had initially asked a court to deny Kelis any spousal support.

He then proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing.

Nas' income is $147,000 a month.

Unsympathetic Nas wanted Kelis to fend for herself.

But on Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger rejected the offer, stating that new mom Kelis needed more money to accommodate her life.

Contacted by Us Weekly after the birth of Knight on Thursday, Kelis' rep said: "The beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful."

Kelis gave birth to baby Knight, her first with estranged husband Nas, on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Knight has been born into a rather nasty divorce battle.

The new parents, who wed in January 2005 after a two-year engagement but filed for divorce in April, have already begun duking out financial battles in court.

Kelis is seeking child support, major spousal support and legal fees from her hip-hop mogul hubby who once ruled her world. And that of rap, you could argue.

She says he makes $11 million a year and wants half. He says he is only sort of rich these days, pulling in around $140,000 a month. The recession hurts.

Kelis is officially an estranged, single, kind of broke baby mama!

There were some rumors of an alleged Kelis sex tape sending Nas over the edge, but last month, Kelis vented on Twitter about Nas' infidelities.

"This lovely day I would like to touch on cheaters. Super brief! Why be cowardly why not go after what you really want," the oddball Tweeted.

"All the scum bag husbands and less than impressive sluts unite! You can go down in flames together. I am here to say the husband is way more at fault."

Nas to Kelis: I'm Only Kind of Rich

As his bitter divorce case with Kelis rages on, Nas now claims that 1. He's paid her more than she says, and 2. He makes less than she thinks he does.

Kelis claims that the rapper made $11 million for his latest album deal. Nas fired back in legal papers, "I did not receive even half that amount."

He puts the figure at more like $4 million. Not a small sum, but a tad less than $11 million. Nas also claims his income has declined - to $147,165 a month.

As for what he spends ... $71,371.96 a month.

While that is a lot of dough to blow through on a monthly basis, note that it's less than half his income. Unlike Kelis, who makes $21K and spends $80K.

Kelis, who is about to give birth to their first child, claims that her husband hasn't paid her a penny for child or spousal support since he left her.

Nas, who wants to be "fully involved" in the parenting of their child, says he agreed to pay $350 for a stroller, $450 for a baby sling and $1,598 for two cribs.

Nas thinks $5,000 a month is reasonable for child support since the kid will just be a newborn. Kelis has her sights set on much more than that. Stay tuned.

Nas: Fathers Need Love Too

Nas has finally broken his silence in his bitter divorce battle with Kelis, taking the time to blog on Global Grind and insisting, simply, that “Fathers deserve love.”

While Kelis, who earns $21,000 a month but claims $80,000 a month in expenses, wants him to cough up dough, Nas had this to say on Father's Day weekend:

“Like Chris Rock said... All we fathers get is the big piece of chicken- if we lucky.

Moms get songs by the O’Jays and everything!!!!! Moms deserve that love, but right now I’m shouting out to real dads. Some are great role models with real academic achievements. Some are not. Some are no longer alive.

Some fathers are locked up, but they are praying for their kids and hoping to be on the streets soon and be betters dads 1 day.

We deserve the love!!! Becuz we don’t even expect it, we do what we do regardless! With no signs of a reward for it.

We put up with everything, standing true to what’s real and letting life take its course protecting our household, our woman, our children, our family.

Protecting and leading a nation. Shout out to my pops, a great man!

No word on whether Nas will be giving his soon-to-be-born son (Kelis is about eight months pregnant) a shout-out in the way of the child support she wants.

Kelis Earns $21K a Month, Spends $80K

Kelis has declared her financial status with the court, making her case to receive child and spousal support, plus baby expenses, from estranged husband Nas.

From 11/08 to 4/09, Kelis' average monthly income was $21,616.

Not exactly broke, as she claimed to be earlier in the week, but significantly less than what she and Nas were pulling in as a couple while they were married.

Oh, and Kelis, who is ready to give birth, has $80,831 in monthly expenses.

Of that sum, Kelis says she spends $14,861 on her mortgage. Her nanny? $3,500 a month. She spends $15,000 a month on entertainment, gifts and vacations.

You can list those as "expenses"? Maybe she should try living within her means since she filed for divorce. There's always reading celebrity gossip for free online!

She says it cost $175 to have the "baby rug dry cleaned," and that she must buy "storage to bank the baby's blood when he is born. The banking is the collection and storage of the stem cells found in the baby's umbilical cord."

We're sure that's real cheap.

Kelis says she hasn't toured in a year and most of her cash comes from concerts. Man, if a girl can't make it on $21,616 a month, what is the world coming to.

Kelis: Broke, Hating on Nas Hard

Rapper Kelis claims her estranged rapper husband Nas has left her high and dry by not offering her a penny, even in the wake of her impending birth.

This is a big deal because, she says, "I have run out of money."

Kelis filed legal papers claiming that Nas isn't paying her support, pre-natal expenses - nothing, even though she claims he is obscenely rich.

The rapper's lawyer asked a judge to order Nas to pay support, both spousal and child, as well as all pregnancy-related expenses, half of the medical expenses after the kid is born, $3,500 for a nurse, and $20,000 for strollers and other supplies.

Kelis says, "My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid."

Nas and Kelis married in 2003. The baby is due this month.

Kelis says she's entitled to maintain the lifestyle to which she became accustomed - five homes, flying first class, going out to fancy restaurants, etc.

"There were many expensive pieces [of jewelry] such as a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet that was recently appraised for $190,000," she writes.

Even better, the "broke" Kelis states in her declaration that "My engagement ring is an approximately nine-carat cushion-cut diamond solitaire. I have numerous watches... such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller and Chopard."

The two reportedly split over a Kelis sex tape ... or Nas cheating on her ... or the usual "irreconcilable differences," depending on what you read.

It's too early to tell, but this ugly celebrity divorce battle could give both Katie and Peter, and Kate Walsh and Alex Young, a run for their bitter money.

Despite being one of the richest rappers on the planet, Nas does not want to pay his estranged, pregnant wife, Kelis, a single dime in spousal support.

Kelis formally filed for divorce from Nas back on April 30. That came as a bit of a surprise, as the hip-hop stars have been married since January 2005.

She's just weeks from giving birth and unable to work, but Nas filed his response to the divorce, asking the judge to deny spousal support she's seeking.

Oh, and, he also wants her to pay her own lawyer's fees.

Kelis cites "irreconcilable differences" for the divorce, but widespread rumors suggest she thinks Nas was cheating on her and that 86'ed the marriage.

A contrary rumor is also going around that a Kelis sex tape - made with some dude before their marriage - recently surfaced and Nas walked out after that.

Nas and Kelis both want joint custody of their unborn child.

What we're saying is move over, Deanna Hummel sex tape.

This info is unverified, but amid the recent news that Kelis and Nas, who have been married four years and are seven months pregnant, are suddenly splitting up ...

Hey, you never know. Fans are looking for an explanation and this may be it.

A source from Nas’ camp reportedly made a statement that it was the rapper who pushed for the split - after he learned of a sex tape in her past!

The Kelis sex tape was recorded before Nas and Kelis got married, but apparently it didn’t matter. Taped sexual escapes are taped sexual escapades to Nas.

He almost completely removed himself from her presence after learning of it, says the source, which is why they have rarely been seen together of late.

Said source adds that the pregnancy was Kelis’ last ditch attempt to save the marriage. And while Nas is happy with a son being on the way, he was still going to divorce her. But Kelis wanted to beat him to the punch, so she filed first.

Obviously.

Nas, of course, celebrated his own raunchy past in a profane valentine to Kelis, “Remember The Times” (”I f**ked a few ... but none of them can touch you”).

Would he really be shocked by a Kelis sex tape? Would he care if this were actually true and not completely made up, as it probably is? Is there more to it?

Kelis, Nas to Divorce

Kelis has filed for divorce from fellow rapper Nas, according to reports.

The Milkshake star is currently seven months pregnant with their child.

A rep for Kelis apparently said: “I can confirm she has filed for divorce. We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."

It is claimed attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears) filed a divorce petition on behalf of Kelis on Thursday, April 30.

The court documents apparently state the catch-all "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split between the music stars.

Nas and Kelis have been together for nearly seven years since meeting on a video shoot and have been married since January 2005.

Asked recently by MTV about Kelis, Nas said: “She's great, man. She's doing good. [We are deciding between] a few baby names. It's kinda hard.”

Sorry, Kelis and Nas.

We're sure you've had a lovely marriage.

But it's about to end.

That is, unless this hip hop couple can somehow avoid the fate that has befallen all other pairings that have agreed to star in a reality series for MTV.

The upcoming show will be entitled, Mr. and Mrs. Jones. After all, Nas' real name is Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones. Everyone knows that.

But will these two love birds become the next Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey? Remember, those two were actually married once.

"While other shows have focused more on the domestic side of these couples, we are taking a much stronger point of view and catching up to them when their tour is beginning," said MTV President Brian Graden.

Oh, the marriage is totally safe in that case. Unless Kelis starts using her milkshake to bring boys to the yard like she's Antonella Barba or something.

In related news, Kelis was arrested last week. She pulled a Michael Richards and was taken into custoy for allegedly hurling racial slurs at two undercover police officers.
