As the world shows love to this year's second place finisher on American Idol, Blake Lewis, the runner-up from last season is feeling awfully lonely.

We don't know why. Katharine McPhee is quite gorgeous and talented.

While scores of American Idol alums turned out to partake in this year's season finale, McPhee was as absent from the festivities as Britney Spears is from any semblance of normalcy.

Although fellow Season 5 competitors Elliot Yamin, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry all returned for guest spots this season, McPhee was missing from the rundown â€" and it was not by choice.

"Katharine called them herself, trying to get on the [finale]," a source close to the singer tells Us Magazine. "She's really hurt."

Not as hurt as Aubrey O'Day probably is that we compared her to an Oompa Loompa. But still.

Of course, Kat wasn't the only former Idol who got dissed. When Sony/BMG president Clive Davis addressed the TV audience, he made sure to plug Hicks' new single, but failed to mention Kelly Clarkson's latest single or her forthcoming CD, My December, over which the two have reportedly butted heads.

McPhee's rep could not be reached and Fox had no comment, but we want McPhee to know that she's welcome to perform on any concert sponsored by The Hollywood Gossip.

The next one scheduled is the Lindsay Lohan Rehab Rock 'n Roll Fest.

While Taylor Hicks may have somehow beat her out as last year's champion, few top Katharine McPhee in the looks department.

Katharine McPhee has big boobs.

The Hollywood Gossip staff could tell this simply by looking at a picture of the singer in a low-cut dress. Apparently, though, Tyra Banks needed to actually feel for herself.

The talk show host recently welcomed last year's American Idol runner-up to the program with your basic squeeze of the breasts. McPhee looks a tad caught off guard, doesn't she? Perhaps she expected a handshake...

We're afraid to think about what CariDee English received from Tyra for winning America's Top Model.

Anyway, McPhee can at least take comfort in the fact that this is far from the most humilating picture of a former or current American Idol contestant to hit the Internet today.

Antonella Barba probably wishes she were caught having her chest investigated by Banks. As opposed to, you know, going down on some random dude.

Katharine McPhee has a new album out today.

It appears as though the American Idol runner-up from a season ago would prefer if we focus our attention on other assets of hers at the moment, however.

Yowza. Kat is giving Victoria Beckham a run for her boobtacular money in this picture.

And we're not saying there's anything wrong with that. Except McPhee has talent.

We don't think she needs to flaunt her chest in order to receive attention; Posh Spice, on the other hand, only has a cool British accent, a famous husband named David Beckham and famous friends that may or may not be insane.

Without her giant boobs, what would become of Victoria?

As for Katharine, you needn't be Paula Abdul drunk in order to recognize a beautiful voice when you hear it.

Stick to singing and let your skills shine through, Kat.

Is it possible that getting beaten by Taylor Hicks on American Idol has made Katharine McPhee so insecure that sheld consider joining Hollywood's trendy "religion" just to impress a man?

That's what she told Salon.com recently in an interview, admitting she looked into Scientology because of some dude. She did not comment on who said dude is.

"I took a couple of courses. It was really all about a guy." McPhee said. "It was a guy that I was totally obsessed with - not obsessed with but totally into and, you know, guys and girls can do that to our lives and make us think we're into something that we're not."

Ah yes. Of course, love can make you do crazy things. Like jump up and down on couches, scare the bejesus out of Matt Lauer, criticize an innocent actress for being depressed, emphasizing that there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance, and so on and so forth.

In any case, it's good that Katharine McPhee hasn't gone overboard.

"I'm not a Scientologist," McPhee said. "I've clarified this rumor over and over again, but people will keep saying that I am, but whatever."

Hmm. Sounds like something a Scientology believer would say. Especially one with a supposed friendship with the most famous Scientologists, TomKat.

"I actually did meet them the other day and they were the nicest people I think I've probably ever met," McPhee said, adding that contrary to prior reports, she did not sing at their wedding.

Maybe more clues will be revealed when she releases her up-coming oft-delayed debut album, Katharine McPhee. Tom Cruise could not be reached by The Gossip for comment on this story.

Saint Nick. The man knows who's naughty and who's nice. It's apparent, however, that he treats each with equal affection.

Take Sienna Miller (please, Jude Law would insist). The actress isn't exactly known for her benevolent ways, yet there she is with a jolly, welcoming Santa. You gotta hand it to the guy and his forgiving heart.

We're sure it was much easier for Mrs. Claus' husband to wear a smile for Katharine McPhee. The American Idol runner-up (right) caught up with the Christmas icon before he took off for a practice sleigh run last week.

As loving as Santa Claus appears to be, though, we wonder if he has anything in his sack this holiday season for Michael Richards. We're guessing it won't be anything but coal.

She's one busy girl, but Katharine McPhee still found the time to IM with America Online as the latest participant in the site's music interview feature.

In her chat, the giggly 22-year old American Idol runner-up discussed everything from her experiences on the show, to her career plans, to her many talents (which include stalking) and even her thoughts on world affairs. Well, sort of.
