Former American Idol runner-up and certified cutie Katharine McPhee flashes that trademark smile we know and love as she pumps gas in Los Angeles.

And Kat's car isn't the only thing getting pumped up - the singer herself has plenty to be psyched for, as McPhee and boyfriend Nick Cokas recently got engaged!

That's one happy former American Idol star at the gas station!

Ne-Yo is the lucky gentlemen who graces the stage alongside these talented beauties, as they gathered over the weekend to film TNT's Christmas in Washington 2007 at The National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Other artists slated to perform on the special, which airs December 12, are: Alan Jackson, Andrea Bocelli, Colbie Caillat and Heather Headley.

We first reported that beautiful American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee got engaged to actor beau Nick Cokas back on September 29. But this blissful piece of celebrity gossip was not widely confirmed until now.

Katharine McPhee, 23, recently has been showing off a ring from Nick Cokas, 42, reports People magazine. They have been dating for quite some time.

"Katharine is bubbling over with excitement for their upcoming wedding," a source close to the couple says. "She is all smiles when she talks about the planning. It sounds like everything is going very smoothly."

The couple met in 2005 when they performed in a L.A. theater production of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Their union began as a friendship, McPhee said.

"He took me up to my San Francisco (American Idol) audition," McPhee said. That's when a relationship blossomed. "We totally fell in love," she said.

As for the 19-year age gap between Nick Cokas and herself, McPhee says it "was never a concern." They connect because "he just makes things really fun" and "we love business. We love going to meetings together and create things together."

Case in point: the two will join forces on an upcoming independent film titled The Last Caller. Katharine McPhee will star in the dark romantic comedy and Nick Cokas will reportedly be producing the work.

Katharine McPhee, whose debut CD came out earlier this year, is currently filming an Anna Faris comedy called I Know What Boys Like, as well.

We're happy for this seemingly nice couple, who have been together since way back before anyone knew who Kat McPhee was. Congratulations again to Nick Cokas - who likely gets to see Katharine McPhee in this position fairly often. Damn.

Katharine McPhee is one of our favorite American Idol contestants of all-time.

But it looks like boyfriend Nick Cokas likes this singer even more: he recently asked her to marry him... and she said yes!

"They're definitely engaged," said a source on the set of House Bunny, the movie McPhee is currently filming alongside Rumer Willis. "They've been talking about it for some time."

We couldn't be happier for this couple. We can only hope Blake Lewis, another American Idol favorite, finds the same sort of satisfaction in the near future.

She's dating an older man (41-year old Nick Cokas) and pretending to be pregnant on screen - but that doesn't mean Katharine McPhee is ready have a bun in her actual oven just yet.

"I [do] definitely want to have a baby, and it's fun to just pretend and look in the mirror," McPhee told Entertainment Tonight this week about wearing a fake bump to shoot House Bunny. "I think it'll probably hold me off a bit on having a baby.

"Today is the first day I'm wearing the prosthetic belly, which wraps all the way around [to] my back, and it's actually really comfortable," the American Idol runner-up added.

The hopeful actress, who told People that she's wearing Nicole Kidman's hand-me-down bump to film the Adam Sandler comedy, also said: "I'm really enjoying it. It's hot and sweaty though, but it's like Method acting."

We're guessing Nicole Richie is wishing she could say the same thing. And so does the unborn child that will soon have this celebrity and Joel Madden as her parents.

Meanwhile, McPhee's costar in the film, Rumer Willis, is having her own troubles with cumbersome costumes. An almost nude picture of the actress wearing just a dunce cap and silver back brace was leaked last week.

"I keep bumping into people and having to apologize to everyone," Willis said. "It's fun though ... I'm just really grateful for the opportunity."

Here's a pairing almost as strange as Brandon Davis and, well, any attractive female:

In the as-yet-untitled comedy, the American Idol runner-up from a year ago and Willis will have to muster all their acting skills in order to play "sisters" in the "lamest sorority on campus," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Their distinctive characteristics?

McPhee will be a pregnant hippie and Willis a woman unwilling to remove an unnecessary back brace. Seems odd to us. But so did Ashton Kutcher ogling his step-daughter.

In addition to the Happy Madison project, both McPhee and Willis have other acting gigs lined up. Katharine has committed to indie dark-romantic-comedy The Last Caller, and Willis will join Mischa Barton and her Die Hard dad Bruce in dark comedy The Sophomore.

Of course, after her recent sexy photo shoot in Stuff magazine, fans don't care about future movies; they just wanna see Katharine McPhee nude. Sorry, folks, we don't have those pics right now.

"There are different sides of me. On American Idol, people saw the side that is very professional and put together. But there's this other side of me that's outgoing, energetic, and wildâ€"and did really stupid things in college."

On dating older men (her boyfriend, Broadway actor Nick Cokas, is 42):
"When I turned 21, I thought it was a good age to explore. You're no longer a teenager, so it's OK [to date older guys]. I gravitated toward them, and I love them. They're just wiser, and they're less about themselves and more about you."

On her new album cover:
"People made a big deal out of that. They said, ‘She's a slut, blah, blah, blah.' But I'm really not showing that much skin. It's all suggested."

On what younger men need to know about women:
"Women sometimes act out, and men get frustrated. They don't get that all we want is, for a few seconds, for you to be all about the girl - to snuggle her and give her kisses and tell her ‘Your lips are so pretty today. I love your lips.'"

On being popular with the fellas:
"I was prematurely developed. As a freshman I looked like a junior; I had boobs. Some of the older kids saw me in the yearbook and said I was cute."

On settling down:
"Oh yeah. I want to have, like, 15 babies. I've always wanted to be pregnant. One year for Halloween, I decided to be pregnant, so I got this nun costume, and I put a big belly under it. I showed my parents and said I want to go to school as a pregnant nun. My dad sat me down and said, "Katharine, you can't!"

While Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks have been receiving the bulk of Idol attention these days, it's about time McPhee made her beautiful presence felt again. We'll never understand why anyone voted for Taylor Hicks over Kat in the first place.

A recent FHM poll in which McPhee - and Tricia Helfer, Jenna Jameson and others - was voted one of the sexiest women in the world made far more sense to this celebrity gossip blog.

So, with all due respect to Antonella Barba nude photos, we're glad to see Katharine receiving some mainstream attention for her looks these days.
