Crazy Joe Simpson is trying to cash in on the celebrity baby craze in celeb gossip magazines - but he's having a tougher time than you'd think.

One celebrity news magazine said: "Joe Simpson is contacting all the weeklies and asking them to pony up a million to put Ashlee on the cover."

When the news broke that Ashlee Simpson is pregnant with now-husband Pete Wentz's child, Joe immediately began to see dollar signs.

There is some interest - but not for anything close to the $1 million Joe is said to be commanding for his youngest, least talented offspring.

One editor said Ashlee Simpson baby pictures would fetch "$60,000 maybe - not a million. The timing is suspicious. Her album just dropped and there was little to no interest until now. Ashlee's lucky she got pregnant, frankly."

The deal would include photos of Ashlee - taken by Joe Simpson, of course, so he can own the rights and can make more money - as well as an interview and photos of the baby when she has it, according to sources.

But even with Ashlee and Pete getting married, "Joe has an unrealistic expectation of what Ashlee can command," the editor said.

This is Romo's first public comment following reports that Joe Simpson is a meddling influence - both with his relationship with Jessica Simpson and his business life - and that his own parents dislike the Simpsons.

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have been dogged by rumors that her father has been interfering throughout their nearly seven-month-old courtship.

Romo insists that is "so far from the truth."

He's even worse than we thought! Us Weekly reports that Jessica Simpson's pimp father, Joe Simpson, brought her relationship with Tony Romo to the brink.

That we pretty much knew going in. But according to the story, Joe's actions specifically were the main source behind their split in May.

Joe Simpson asked Tony Romo to drop his agent - so he could personally take over his NFL career and $67.5 million contract with Dallas.

He even offered to "sell" his engagement and wedding to a celebrity gossip magazine should Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson get engaged.

As tension grew, the Cowboys quarterback gave the alleged singer and actress an ultimatum: Tell dad to back the hell off!

When asked for comment, Joe Simpson defended himself, saying "It's unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients."

"In this business, where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?"

For now, Romo and Simpson are back on, in "a talking stage." Adds the source of their relationship, "it's in a middle-of-the-road state."

Despite all the breakup talk, Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are back together, but a college friend of the Dallas Cowboys quarterback says Romo's insisting on calling the plays from now on.

"He did agree to go to [sister Ashlee's] wedding - keeping his promise to Jessica," Romo's Eastern Illinois alum pal told the Chicago Sun-Times.

"But he made it super-clear that if they were to give it another go, her dad, Joe, had to seriously back off."

Joe Simpson, a former minister and current pimp, has long been seen as an overbearing presence, managing both his daughters' careers.

While clearly successful at what he does - look at how much money he's made off two airheads with no talent - Joe Simpson has earned a reputation as a guy who's, um, extremely difficult to work with.

The Sun-Times says Tony Romo told Jessica Simpson that their renewed relationship is on a trial basis, so long as Joe "leaves them alone" and stops telling Romo how to run his life, career and endorsement deals.

Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson have been seen together in recent days, after the solo vacation Jessica took in Cabo San Lucas following the pregnant, talentless Ashlee Simpson's marriage to Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz.

Never thought you'd hear that one, did you? Sadly for you overweight peeps (cough, Britney Spears), Joe Simpson is impeding the path to good health!

Well, at least indirectly, according to a dude suing him.

Jessica Simpson's pimp, manager and father has been hit with a lawsuit from a fitness company, Speedfit, for blocking the sale of a DVD starring Jessica.

After signing a multi-million contract, Jessica Simpson  recorded a workout tape for Speedfit shortly before shooting her "breakthrough" role as Daisy Duke in 2005's embarrassment to the film industry, The Dukes of Hazzard.

Jessica Simpson then changed her mind about doing the tape and Joe Simpson got involved to ban its release, Speedfit is claiming in its legal deposition.

Speedfit owner Alex Astilean has filed suit against Joe after failing to secure a $10 million settlement from his daughter last year.

"They are hurting millions of fat people in America!" Astilean tells Us Weekly. "I believe that very strongly. They held the video for years!"

Pierce Brosnan's wife, Keeley Shaye Smith, had no comment.
