Well, the good news about Jessica Simpson’s performance in Grand Rapids last week is that nobody’s talking about her now-infamous weight gain.

The bad news is that people are calling it a “meltdown.” Reports she mouthed “sorry” to the audience after forgetting lyrics are never encouraging.

From what we can tell in the video clips below, though, meltdown may be a bit of a stretch. Is she good at singing? Not remotely. But from what we can tell, she didn't implode. Here's a clip of her singing (term used loosely).

We're not picking on her. We're just quoting the newest cover of one of the top celebrity news and gossip publications in the entire world, Us Weekly.

While it's unclear if food is waterboarding her or just subjecting her to insults and other verbal abuse, what's undeniable is that the celeb gossip world has been captivated by the Jessica Simpson weight gain we've seen in recent weeks.

Even Barack Obama has weighed in after relinquishing his vice grip on the Us Weekly cover spot to Jessica this week. Check out said cover below:

Was she driven to consume massive quantities of food by Tony Romo banging some girl in her bed while she was out of town? Can she just not resist the allure of cupcakes? What does her alleged "rage" over fat insults entail exactly?

We'll have to pick up the celeb news magazine to get those deets. But rest assured, this is hardly the first scandal to land Jess an absurd, overdramatic Us cover.

Well, this is more of a personal maintenance issue than strictly fashion. A real possibility exists that Jessica has painted her face orange for some reason ... or at least uses some really cheap spray-on tanning product. Yikes.

Mmm. We can't always look our best, but this is just rough. This might even make you long for the mom jeans and double-leopard print belt, so view with caution:

Please, Tony Romo. We beg of you. Get your girl to lay off the faking and baking. If you're not already cheating on her in her own bed, that is.

When Jessica Simpson decided to be an actress a few years ago, she was at her peak, both as a singer and as a good-looking person. While her big-screen debut was by no means decent, it earned a decent amount of money.

Since then, her films have followed a clear pattern, concluding with her most recent effort. Which is ironic, because as her body has ballooned, her movies' box office revenues seem to have done the reverse. See below:

• Blonde Ambition (2007): $1,300 (yes, that's correct)

This question has completely consumed the celebrity gossip world for the past week, with people on both sides of the debate. Various stars have even weighed in.

The embattled Jessica Simpson performed at a Charleston, W.V., concert in tight jeans, high black boots, and a scarf around her neck, hanging down to her thighs.

Needless to say, she looks better than in last week's infamous pics:

It's good to see the singer shrugging off criticism of her figure, as well as ditching those stupid mom jeans and leopard print belt. Fat or not, that outfit wasn't exactly helping matters. We can't believe Ken Paves let her wear that crap in public.

As we touched upon in our earlier examination of celebrity quotes on this important subject, Kim Kardashian is sick and tired of celeb gossip sites giving Jessica Simpson such a hard time over new and wildly controversial full figure.

"EVERYONE seems to be asking me about Jessica Simpson's alleged weight gain. I think it's absolutely ridiculous," blogged Kim Kardashian, adding that she's "probably twice Jessica's size, so what do you guys think of me then?"

As we talked about at the end of last year, 2008 was a great year for plastic surgery. But there's plenty more where that came from - past and future!

Having said that, The Hollywood Gossip is pleased to announce its inaugural Celebrity Plastic Surgery Hall of Fame class of nine worthy inductees.

They aren't the first, nor will they be the last, to go under the knife and alter their looks unnecessarily. But they most certainly are a deserving bunch.

The Hills' Heidi Montag was a cute girl, but decided that the stereotypical Hollywood bleach-blond tramp look worked better. At least she proudly admits it!

Nice lips, Brittany Murphy. They really look better now that they've quadrupled in size. Makes you wonder why more girls don't have this done as soon as they turn 12.

In her first performance since celebrity gossip sites went buck wild over a series of fat Jessica Simpson pictures, the 28-year-old strutted her stuff across a Virginia stage - wearing some skin-tight leather pants! - on Thursday night.

She lamented the celeb news world's "completely pointless" focus and said "Thank you for your support," to the Charlottesville crowd at the end of her set.

"Just stay positive, and pray out loud! I love you guys!"

With a majority of public opinion believing that her new, fuller figure is healthy, not fat, she can certainly stand tall. Don't know about the pants, though...

Simpson never specifically mentioned the buzz over her thicker frame or rumors that Tony Romo nailed some chick in her bed while she was out of town.

But the alleged singer and actress took a no-nonsense approach with black pants, V-neck T-shirt and a hip-length black jacket, and was outspoken.

"Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder," Jessica told the crowd. "So just appreciate."
