NBC's Today show has hired Jenna Bush Hager as a new correspondent.

The 27-year-old teacher and daughter of George W. Bush will contribute once a month with stories on issues like education to TV top-rated morning news show.

Jenna Bush said she has always wanted to be a teacher and a writer, and has already authored two books. But she was intrigued by the idea of getting into TV.

"It wasn't something I'd always dreamed to do," she said. "But one of the most important things in life is to be open-minded and to be open-minded for change."

Jenna will essentially work two part-time jobs as a correspondent for Today and in her school, where she will be a reading coordinator this year.

She was on the morning news program two years ago to promote her book about an HIV-infected single mother, Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope, and it went so well that Hager's short interview was stretched to nearly a half hour.

She and her mother, Laura Bush, also co-hosted an hour of Today about the time their picture book came out. She "just sort of popped to us as a natural presence, comfortable" on the air, said executive producer Jim Bell.

"I think she can handle it," he said. "I think she knows something about pressure and being under scrutiny. When she came here, she knocked it out of the park."

Jenna, who married Henry Hager last year, will work out of NBC's Washington bureau.

"I hope to focus on what I'm passionate about because I think I'd do them best job on them urban education, women and children's issues and literacy," she said.

While not as exciting as Melissa Rycroft joining the staff of Good Morning America, we're happy for Jenna and her newest career endeavor.

"Yeah," concurred Jenna Hager, "it was really nice." Ellen responded: "So, can we borrow it for our wedding, can we get the ranch?"

While aspiring president John McCain talked gay marriage on TV with Ellen DeGeneres, the daughter of the current chief executive had her own plans.

Jenna and Henry Hager returned from their honeymoon in time to attend his graduation from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.

The newlyweds - who got married in Crawford, Texas on May 10 - went with his parents, John and Maggie Hager, the Washington Post reports.

It's official: Jenna Bush and Henry Hager got married on Saturday!

This made one of George W. Bush's twin daughters the first daughter of a sitting United States president to exchange vows in 16 years.

The down-home setting was a lakeside ceremony at President Bush's secluded 1,600-acre Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell of Houston, Texas, presided over the ceremony before a four-foot limestone cross and altar - the president's idea for the event - which will stand as a permanent landmark on the Bushes' property.

"This is a joyous occasion for our family, as we celebrate the life ahead of Jenna and her husband, Henry," the president said.

"It's also a special time for Laura, who this Mother's Day weekend will watch a young woman we raised together walk down the aisle."

A source at the ranch said that the president alone, in traditional style, was escorting the bride to the altar. A White House spokeswoman said she did not know if Jenna Bush planned to take the name of Henry Hager.

Jenna Bush and Henrey Hager are getting married on May 10. But the daughter of G-Dubs won't be getting hitched at the White House.

Jenna Bush's non-fiction 2007 book, Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope - the tale of a 17-year-old single mother in Panama who is living with HIV - is getting a new epilogue, and thanksfully, it's a very positive one.

"I took Ana's baby to get her HIV test," the first daughter, 26, informed a convention of young Jewish activists Tuesday at the Washington Hilton.

"She's negative," Bush revealed, as her audience burst into applause.

Jenna Bush spoke before a "Make It Matter" luncheon hosted by the United Jewish Communities - whose site described Jenna as an "international children's rights advocate and daughter of Laura and President George W. Bush.

Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope was apparently on the New York Times bestseller list, too, so you know whoever ghosted it did a heck of a job.

"I ignorantly thought when I met Ana that she would be scared or have trust issues," one of President Bush's twin daughters said, but that assumption proved wrong.

"All this anger had evaporated. She was living such a positive life," said Bush, who will wed Henry Hager in May. "It's a lesson to all of us that there are people carrying heavy burdens but who live with such optimism."

Love him or hate him, there's no denying that President George W. Bush has faced tough economic and diplomatic issues during two terms in office.

Daughter Jenna Bush's upcoming wedding has presented its own challenges.

"It was a total boy's weekend," says the source.

"There were about 20 guys, most of whom came down from D.C. and New York. They went fishing all day Saturday, but they didn't catch anything!"

The group then headed to South Beach to continue the festivities. Wooo!

Henry Hager "was having a great time," but called it a night around 1:30 a.m., while some of his friends stayed behind.

The couple is set to marry May 10 at the President's ranch in Crawford, Tex. The Prez says he's writing the checks but is out of the loop as far as planning.
