We last showcased a pair of American Idol hopefuls in our celebrity look-alikes feature. Today it's a pair of thespians who have piqued our interest.

Javier Bardem, who just won an Oscar for No Country For Old Men, certainly is a handsome, talented fellow. Not unlike another favorite of The Hollywood Gossip.

Known lately for roles on Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural, Weeds and P.S. I Love You, and for rocking the love life of the beatiful Mary-Louise Parker, Jeffrey Dean Morgan can now add Javier Bardem look-alike to his expanding resume.

As the entertainment world mourns the loss of Heath Ledger, the Screen Actors Guild awards went on as scheduled Sunday in Los Angeles.

The nominees for the 80th annual Academy Awards were unveiled Tuesday. Not surprisingly, heavyweights like Cate Blanchett, Johnny Depp, George Clooney (pictured below, with girlfriend Sarah Larson) and Javier Bardem topped the list.

Our guess is that Sarah Larson picks Michael Clayton for Best Picture.

Matt Damon has been named The Sexiest Man Alive by People.

While other notable studs were also in contention for the honor - such as Patrick Dempsey, Will Smith and Brad Pitt - one name featured in the upcoming issue might surprise readers: Javier Bardem.

Known right now mostly for sucking face with Penelope Cruz in public, the actor is garnering Oscar talk for his role in No Country for Old Men. And he seems to have a sense of humor about his sex symbol status.

"It just makes me laugh," said Bardem. "I see a guy who looks like he's been beaten with a baseball bat."

But the rising star does at least acknowledge a certain seductive intensity he possesses: "Once you start to get older, you have to focus and be passionate about life day after day."

Amen, Javier. Amen.

Looks like Javier Bardem has something in common with Penelope Cruz's ex-boyfriend, Matthew McConaughey: neither man likes to wear a shirt.

Also, each likes to plant a big, wet kiss on Cruz. But can you really blame them for having such taste? Assuming Tom Cruise didn't poison Penelope with any Scientology spells when those two dated, she's a wonderful catch.

Fortunately, McConaughey has found happiness with Camila Alves. So everyone wins! Especially voyeurs...

But a relationship issue of even more importance to many readers may involve Penelope Cruz and her rumored new beau: Javier Bardem.

According to The New York Post, "Cruz showed up at the New York Film Festival this weekend with Javier Bardem, and the two were ‘very touchy-feely,' our spy said. ‘They held hands when they thought no one was watching, and she kissed his cheek, and he put his arm around her.'

Sounds like a love connection to us! Maybe George Clooney and Sarah Larson are no longer the hottest new pairing in Hollywood.

Saturday night, Cruz and Bardom showed up with Bono to the premiere party for No Country for Old Men, sitting in the back on the theater.

The two actors costar in the top secret Woody Allen Spanish Project, due out 2008. The film also stars Scarlett Johansson and Patricia Clarkson.
