Is Britney losing it?

In a display of tantrums and cries for help, the deeply troubled singer has been pulling out her hair in clumps, throwing screaming fits and worse.

Britney Spears has been so unstable recently that her father warns he will have her committed to the psych ward again, according to sources.

In a grim flashback to her public meltdown in 2007, she even threatened to kill herself while arguing with her father and conservator, Jamie.

"Her dad's reaction was clear - keep it up and she'll end up back in a mental ward," revealed a source close to Britney Spears' family.

We know it did great things for her and got her back on track, but it's been three years. Is Jamie stretching the conservatorship out too long?

Britney Spears is supposedly depressed because Jamie has no intention of ending the legal conservatorship he holds over her - for at least another three years!

By then, Britney will be 31, and her estate may be worth $1 billion from album and concert sales. Only then will she be free to make her own decisions.

Meanwhile, Jamie Spears has his sexy daughter booked for as many tours and albums as her management can land. You gotta milk that cash cow hard!

"Britney had her hopes up because her dad told her if she did an Australian concert tour, which ended November 29, he would free her," said a source.

"But when the court extended the conservatorship before Christmas, it shattered Britney. She was thrown for a loop," and thinks it was his plan all along.

Spears is due back in court Friday for a status update on the conservatorship. Hopefully they don't take away more rights from the credit card bandit.

Los Angeles courtroom Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered the co-conservatorship of Britney Spears to continue, with her father, Jamie Spears, in control of her life.

Jamie will get $16,000 a month for his duties as conservator of Brit. Not a bad deal, but he does make her personal, financial and medical decisions 24/7/365.

In short, he works hard for the money.

Goetz also ordered the co-conservator of Britney, aptly-named lawyer Andrew Wallet, to be paid $174,569.10 for services rendered from July-November 2009.

The judge didn't specify how long the conservatorship will remain in place, but lawyers involved expect it to last somewhere between six months and a year.

Probably for the best. We know Jason Trawick is a great influence and she's a lot better now, but we're not sure she's capable of runnin' wild and free just yet ...

Jamie Spears still controls this. He might want to hire a stylist.

We reported two weeks ago that Britney sought to end the conservatorship. Either that was untrue, she was overruled, or there's an end in sight (just not now).

Other issues concerned continuing to seal all medical and certain business transactions because of "trade secrets," so that Britney's treatment stays confidential.

The judge also increased the bond for the conservatorship from $1 million to $25 million. That way, if anything happened Britney's money she would be covered.

Samuel Ingham, a court appointed attorney for Britney Spears, said in court that, "She [Britney] accepted the decisions as filed and had no objection to it."

The next court hearing in the Britney case is scheduled for January 14. Fees for Laura Wasser, the star's divorce/custody attorney, will be dealt with then.

Free Britney!

That's what lawyers and others connected with the Britney Spears conservatorship case are saying as they work toward the goal of ending the control her dad, Jamie, has had over her personal and professional decisions since early 2008.

But can - and more importantly should - Britney be freed?

Jamie Spears wants to wait until her tour ended before making any such move, and even then, he wants to do it only when and if the time is right.

There have been several lengthy meetings recently between Spears' lawyers and the court commissioner in the commissioner's chambers recently.

Jamie and the lawyers will not and cannot make a binding decision to end the Britney conservatorship. They will weigh in, but the individual with all the influence is the "capacity expert" - a psychiatrist who was appointed by the court.

The capacity expert will do a thorough evaluation of Britney Spears psychologically and of the case in general and submit it to the commissioner.

We're told one of the fears Jamie has ... Sam Lutfi, who he thinks is still a threat to Britney if she lets him back in her life. He's got that right.

There are actually two conservatorships, or two components to Jamie's control. He runs Britney Spears the person and Britney, the cash cow.

The business conservatorship will likely continue indefinitely. The issue on the table is whether to end the conservatorship over Britney herself.

Should Britney Spears be allowed to roam free? Or is the risk of a return to her past pink-wigged, British-accent, no-pants self just too great?

The day before Thanksgiving, allow The Hollywood Gossip to give thanks to loons such as Courtney Love.

She may be a complete and utter freak, and she may be accusing an innocent man of child molestation, but she certainly keeps our job interesting!

In a new Facebook posting, Love accused Jamie Spears - the father of Britney Spears and Jamie-Lynn Spears - of inappropriately touching his kids. Read for yourself, if you can interpret Courtney's spelling...

Indeed, lets GO, Court! Directly to the insane asylum, hopefully. Or at least a dictionary.

Comeback Story of the Year Britney Spears is being remodeled and revamped into a gentler, sweeter star by her father and conservator, Jamie Spears.

Well, except for her music of course. Minor detail.

"He’s really trying to clean up her image," a source told Fox News of Brit's chief handler. "He’s making a lot of changes to the people around her."

"Everyone is a bit on edge they could be replaced."

Sean and Jayden's new dad Jason Trawick seems safe, but Jamie Spears and his team have been busy hiring and firing various people in the star's camp.

He is also said to be paranoid of afraid of letting anybody get too close or learning too much about his daughter, whose past troubles are well documented.

"Britney’s family has seen what happens when she gets too close to outsiders (cough, Sam Lutfi) and they lose control of her completely," said the source.

But how does Britney apparently feel about all the changes instituted by her father? "She is so out of it she just doesn’t care anymore," added an insider.

Of Britney, a source close to her reports: "She just does what she’s told and is totally in her world, she’ll even call people at all hours of night for a general conversation and acts like it’s the middle of the day or something."

Raise your hand if you're surprised. Anyone? No?

Of course, while Jamie is busy trying to shake up those surrounding her, one thing he doesn’t seem to be changing or trying to make more innocent is her music.

Britney is set to soon release a raunchy music video for her new single "3" - a track which focuses on exactly what you think it does. Her having a threesome.

"Merrier the more, triple fun that way," a breathy Britney sings. "Three is a charm, two is not the same. I don’t see the harm, so are you in the game?"

Gulp. Yeah. Somehow we assume that raunchy style isn't going away anytime soon. Otherwise her record sales would. It's all she's got going for her.

Like an endangered species rehabilitated in captivity only to be released back into its natural environment, Britney Spears is about to be let back into the wild as her conservatorship appears to be nearing its end.

The star's father Jamie Spears, who has been in charge of her financial, medical and personal affairs for a year and a half, is ready to step down.

Soon.

Jamie will ask the court that appointed him to review the terms of the conservatorship after Britney Spears' Circus tour ends in November.

He cannot ask the judge to end the conservatorship - just to review it. The judge will then decide if Britney should regain control of her life.

According to sources, Jamie thinks Britney Spears is just about ready to go on her own. Her life has been his full time job since February '08.

She may complain he is overprotective sometimes, but whatever Jamie has done, he deserves due credit for. A year and a half ago, people were thinking Britney Spears was living on borrowed time. Now look at her.

In fact, were it not for the tour, the conservatorship may have been ended prior to this. Various vendors were promised, for insurance purposes, under contract that the conservatorship would last through the Circus tour.

We're guessing a stable boyfriend like Jason Trawick only helps Jamie's reasoning that his daughter is ready to resume control of her existence.

A love interest in her life that can actually be trusted? Bidding farewell to leeches Sam and Adnan? Thank you Jamie Spears, for all you've done.

Sam Lutfi has filed legal papers in his defamation lawsuit against Britney Spears and her parents, Jamie and Lynn, claiming they have ruined "his life."

Lynne Spears' book, Through The Storm, about her famous daughter is a pack of lies, Sam Lutfi says, especially the part in which she says Sam told Lynne he was secretly grinding up pills and putting them in Britney Spears' food in 2007.

As a result of the book, "I am constantly in fear for my life," Sam Lutfi says in his lawsuit, not embellishing at all. Does anyone care about him in the least?

He says he was "harassed and cajoled by the public." Does that mean us? If so, sorry Sam. We wouldn't harass you if you weren't sponging off our girl.

Also, wasn't Sam "cajoled" long before Lynne's book was published? Whatever.

Lutfi trotted out his own cast of character witnesses in the new legal docs - notably the infamous Adnan Ghalib - currently being prosecuted for felony battery.

Adnan wrote a declaration, claiming that Lynne Spears' assertions that Sam was effectively holding Britney Spears hostage during her dark times were false.

Call us crazy, and we are by no means legal experts, but if Adnan Ghalib is on your character witness list, you might as well throw in the towel now.

The Britney Spears conservatorship - since she can't file anything herself of course - has filed a response to ex-leech Sam Lutfi's lawsuit against her.

In a four-page document filed last week, Brit's camp, headed by her dad Jamie Spears and an aptly-named lawyer, Andrew Wallet, shoots down Lutfi's claims.

One by one, they put the bag of ass in his place, starting with Lutfi's top beef - that he is supposedly owed some serious cash for being Britney's manager.

But in court documents, Britney's handlers claim the oral contract between them is void because Sam "made false promises" in order to get her to agree to it.

Lutfi's days at the helm of Britney's career are thankfully over.

That wouldn't surprise us one bit. Also, Jamie Spears, Britney's dad, has already filed a response to the claims of assault filed against him by Sam Lutfi.

The Evil One's attorney remained confident he would prevail.

"I was hardly shocked that they didn't agree with our position," Bryan Freedman told E! News. "But I think there is ample evidence of this contract. There are writings that indicate the same. At the end of the day there won't be much dispute about this."

Brit's camp wants Lutfi to pay its legal fees as well. Stay tuned.

Earlier this week, Britney Spears bikini pics, adorable shots of Jayden and Sean and rumors that the star is dating her agent Jason Trawick surfaced online.

Well, we still can't state with any certainty whether she and Trawick are a romantic item, but we sure can tell you this: she and the kids had a freakin' blast!

On her official site, Britney writes that she has been "enjoying a wonderful vacation at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas with her family and friends."

Whoever imagined Jordan Miller, who started a Britney Spears fan site while a high school sophomore in 2004, would one day receive half a million visits a day?

Whoever imagined Miller, now a typical college student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, would be threatened with legal action by her dad, Jamie Spears?

Miller's world was turned upside-down last fall after he received an angry phone call from the pop star's father-guardian, accusing him of copyright violations.

"I'm working my ass off to report on this girl," Miller said.

In February 2008, after Britney Spears was forced into a treatment program for bipolar disorder, Jamie Spears was awarded conservatorship, giving him the authority to make legal, financial and medical decisions on behalf of his daughter.

Miller posted several blogs begging for Britney to be "freed."

One fan site creator's opinions on Britney and posting of stories about Jamie Lynn Spears apparently have not gone over well with the stars' father and chief handler.

He also posted about a magazine story that suggested Britney's younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, was expecting her second child. Then his cell phone rang.

Miller said Jamie Spears told him, "I am going to destroy your ass."

"I was really freaking out for a good three or four weeks," Miller said. "Lately, I've been doing my own thing. I just kind of want to keep it going."

Each day, Miller scans the Internet for stories about Britney Spears, posts them on his site, BreatheHeavy.com, and adds his own comments. He encourages her fans to send him Circus tour photos or updates regarding her.

Miller said the site keeps him busy, but it is not as demanding now as it was when the troubled, out-of-control singer was shaving her head, bashing vehicles with an umbrella, being photographed without no underwear, and so on.
