Happy birthday, Criss Angel and Jake Gyllehaal!

In addition to being a fine-looking fellow, Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the brightest acting stars in Hollywood today. As for Criss Angel? Well, dude sees Holly Madison naked. That's pretty much all he needs on his resume at this point.

So, here's a little photo tribute to our birthday boys. Also celebrating one today? Kate Bosworth boy toy / alleged model James Rousseau! Sorry, James. No room for pics of you, handsome as you are. Kate has a gift for you, we'd imagine.

Don't get us wrong, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal make a hot couple and her divorce from Ryan Phillippe (go Abbie Cornish) was somewhat scandalous.

But whenever celebrities without the surname Spears or who don't star on The Hills make the cover of Us Weekly, we can't help but make note of our shock.

Especially this of all weeks. The Hills returns for its Spring run, Jamie Lynn Spears gets engaged to Casey Aldridge, and still, Gyllenspoon. What gives?

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal's untold love story trumped all other celebrity news this week, this popular gossip magazine felt in a head-scratching move.

To the magazine's credit, at least Britney Spears' hectic personal life, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, and Dancing With the Stars all made the sidebar.

Saying Rendition failed to meet expectations at the box office is like stating Lindsay Lohan's box office has been seen by a lot of guys (sorry, Riley Giles).

Some facts are sad, but undeniable.

But it doesn't mean that the movie's co-stars, Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, don't have some great chemistry. And are possibly dating.

On the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Reese Witherspoon finally spoke out about her off-again, on-again possible beau and definite Rendition co-star.

When Ellen DeGeneres told Reese Witherspoon, 31, that Jake Gyllenhaal, 26, was cute, the Oscar winner gushed, "He's great!"

Gyllenspoon: Probably a couple. Definitely a long-ass couple name.

The day before, new photos surfaced of Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal (dressed in matching black T-shirts and jeans) strolling hand-in-hand and smooching at Los Angeles International Airport October 22. Hot stuff!

The pair had been returning from Rome, where they were promoting their new film. On October 19, Reese Witherspoon was spotted resting her head on Jake's shoulder while walking in the street. It's like they're meant to be.

And while their buzzed-about CIA thriller has bombed at the bomb office, at least Reese has Jake to comfort her. And her Oscar from Walk the Line. Yeah. Take that Ryan Phillippe, you Abbie Cornish-banging sleaze.

To some celebs, such as Kim Kardashian, Olivia Mojica and Paris Hilton, doggy style is just something you do to kill time... and make some money off sex tape sales.

To others (fortunately), it's more about fun, companionship and cuteness. Not to mention a fashionable accessory. Truly, little dogs are all the rage in Hollywood these days.

Reese Witherspoon enjoyed a fun evening of laughs and drinks at L.A.'s La Terza on June 16 with pal Renée Zellweger and six other friends.

Missing from Reese's night out? Beau Jake Gyllenhaal.

Sources say the duo, who began dating in March (five months after her split from Ryan Phillippe, 32), had been getting serious in recent weeks - Jake even bonded with her two kids and met her mom.

But now Us Weekly is citing numerous sources close to the couple saying that the once-sizzling Jake and Reese have cooled.

"She has either called it off or is just taking a break," says a Reese Witherspoon pal.

The hitch? If may have been too much, too soon for the 31-year-old Legally Blonde and Walk the Line star still reeling from her divorce.

"She cares for Jake Gyllenhaal, but the timing is crappy," says the 'Spoon source. "She doesn't have enough emotional space for him right now."

Sources say the cute actress - who has been hunkering down at home because "she's worried that when she's in public, everyone's talking about her failed marriage" - is focusing on staying strong for the kids, Ava and Deacon.

Alas, it seems it will be just the three of them for a while longer.

At least Jake has his sister, Maggie, and brother-in-law, Peter Sarsgaard, to turn to for comfort. And besides, a source recently said that Gyllenhaal told a buddy: "I'm single."

It's nice to see that this sweet, talented Hollywood couple is still going strong, while at the same time, keeping their courtship on the low-key side.

Reese Witherspoon, 31, and Jake Gyllenhaal, 26, who met last summer on the set of Rendition, had a rendezvous following a May 25 visit to a doctor's office in Culver City, California.

After the appointment, the pair hopped into separate cars and headed to Reese Witherspoon's house. They make have gone to second base there.

"Jake put his hand out of the sunroof and was waving," says an eyewitness to the love story that is Gyllenhitherspoon. "They looked totally in love."

We're guessing that Jake hasn't yet busted out any Brokeback Mountain quotes such as "Reese, baby, I wish I knew how to quit you."

Contrarily, the impression he's giving pals is that of a smitten guy. They've been more than friends for three months now, but every day feels like the first.

"Jake said he's found someone who knows how to look out for both of them, and not just themselves," a Gyllenhaal source reports. "Reese is more attentive than anyone else he knows."

Reese's ex, Ryan Phillippe, was certainly attentive the other night. To Britney Spears. In the bathroom. At Les Deux! Well, probably not. But we heard that rumor.

She's a gamer.

We've always known this about her acting talents. But according to Us Weekly, Reese Witherspoon is now bringing her A-game to her love life!

After two months of what one Witherspoon source calls the actress' "trying out a courtship" with Jake Gyllenhaal after her painful split from actor Ryan Phillippe, a Gyllenhaaal pal dishes that it, "it is a definite romance."

What else would you expect, says another Reese Witherspoon pal, since the actress became determined to win the affections of Jake Gyllenhaal soon after separating from Phillippe October 30.

"Reese was the pursuer and really wanted to date Jake," says a pal of the Oscar winner, who co-stars with her new beau in the new drama, Rendition.

"She's known him for a while and thought he was intelligent and charming."

And the feeling is definitely mutual.

"Jake doesn't want a party girl at all," says a Gyllenhaal friend, who says that the relationship blossomed over DVD and takeout nights at home and long talks about movies.

"Reese and Jake are perfect because she also understands the business and the importance of family. Plus, he admires her great talent, thinks she is beautiful and he respects her values. He respects everything about her."

Catching the eye and winning the respect of one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors was exactly what Witherspoon, 31, needed after her marriage to Ryan Phillippe crashed and burned.

"She needed to prove to herself that she was sexy and desirable."

The last time we reported these two were more than pals, it was raw speculation. Hollywood rumors and gossip at their finest. But it turns out we were right!

Five months after her seven-year marriage to Ryan Phillippe ended, Reese Witherspoon appears to be discreetly moving on - with Jake Gyllenhaal!

The delightful duo is starring together in the upcoming drama Rendition, the filming of which officially wrapped in March.

"Reese is ready for someone she can trust," a close friend of Witherspoon tells Us Weekly, who did not comment if Jake wears boxers or briefs. "Jake is an actor, is stable, has a successful career and wouldn't want her money. She can trust him."

According to a source close to Jake Gyllenhaal source, the pair - who were spotted (separately) leaving a New York City apartment building in early March - have been dating for about two months.

On March 30, Reese Witherspoon stopped by The Clay Pit in her neighborhood of Brentwood for some Indian takeout, while Gyllenhaal waited in the car.

"When she came back out to the car, he got out and opened the door for her and was shielding his face so no one would see him," says a fellow diner, Rachel Sounhein.

The two share common lowkey interests: running, cooking, and quiet nights in - a welcome change from waiting for that jackass Ryan Phillippe to come home from boys' nights out.

"Reese and Ryan fought about Ryan's need to go to clubs - with Jake, she won't have that problem," says someone familiar with the situation.

Indeed, when the Zodiac star split from Kirsten Dunst in 2004, one source reported taht her constant partying was largely to blame. Recently, she's been spotted with rocker Johnny Borrell, though she's accumulated many boyfriends of late.

As for Gyllenhitherspoon?

"They are taking it slow," says a Gyllenhaal pal. "It is new for both of them. But they're seeing each other and seeing where it goes. This is for real."

Looks like his niece, Ramona, is no longer the only special lady in Jake's life!

Paris Hilton likes to go doggy style. That we know.
