The Hollywood Gossip Exclusive: Michelle Ryan and Isaiah Washington Do Battle

Sorry, Grey’s Anatomy fans, but the rumors are true:

Isaiah Washington has traded in his scrubs for, well, science-fiction clothing.

Below is an exclusive photo from a scene in Bionic Woman, the new show premiering this fall on NBC. We aren’t sure what role Washington plays in it, but looks like a far cry from the operating table, huh?

Forget Michelle Ryan nude for a moment. Check out the actress in action, as she battles it out with Isaiah.

Star Jones On: Isaiah Washington, Britney Spears, Celebrity Gossip Culture

Star Jones sucks.

The former co-host of The View, who misled viewers about how she lost recent weight and essentially begged companies to provide her with free schwag for her wedding, has somehow landed a new show on Court TV.

Star Jones Pic We wish we could ignore the woman that makes us yearn for Rosie O’Donnell, but Jones covered two of our favorite actors/nut jobs during her inaugural show Monday.

First, she spoke with guest Isaiah Washington, who Star non-sensically dubbed “the whipping boy for bad behavior.”

The former Grey’s Anatomy actor and future Bionic Woman guest star said of his experiences: “I hope everything I’ve gone through in the last eight months has not been in vain [and] these words disappear from the vernacular.”

What a martyr.

“I didn’t sense bitterness [from Isaiah],” Reynolds told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday. “If anything, it was great disappointment, and I understand that. But the only thing that moves you forward, in my opinion, is to not look at who did you wrong but to look at what you may have done wrong so you can be correctly given an opportunity the next time.”

So profound.

Moving on to Britney Spears, Jones doesn’t understand the hoopla surrounding this pop star. Yet she does admit to being a fan of celebrity gossip. We’re not sure how both of those views are possible.

“I am obsessed with pop culture and the entertainment industry, but for the life of me I cannot understand why we are so obsessed with this young girl and her man, her children and her divorce,” Star said. “We are sitting here tripping out because a 26-year-old is making mistakes – well, wonder of wonders!”

It should be noted that this opinion was expressed during a segment called “The Wrap Sheet,” in which Jones and a panel discussed the latest celebrity news.

Jones expressed consternation at people discussing Britney Spears so much… by discussing Britney Spears! Wonder of wonders, indeed.

Isaiah Washington Prepares to Level Former Co-Star

Isaiah Washington has some anger management issues.

He claims they fired the wrong guy, but regardless of the nature of the gay slur he made on the Grey’s Anatomy set, ABC decided it wasn’t worth keeping the crazy one around for the upcoming season of the hit medical drama.

Since then, he hasn’t exactly done much to prove this was a bad decision on the network’s part, comparing himself to Malcolm X on the talk show circuit and showing general disdain for the press and former colleagues along the way.

It’s only a matter of time until he snaps. We’ve already seen him lurking in the shadows, plotting revenge against Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes. Now it’s a former co-star - so innocent and beautiful - who may find the wrath of Isaiah unleashed upon her …

Isaiah Washington: The Rage

As you can see, an angry Washington is looking to instill punishment and take out every one of his former Grey’s Anatomy co-stars, one at a time. First up is Private Practice star Kate Walsh, who’s about to get leveled by an uppercut. Somebody call a medic!

Vengeful Isaiah Washington Plots His Next Move

Since being dismissed from the set of Grey’s Anatomy, Isaiah Washington has shown his true colors. True, angry and incredibly bitter colors.

Being sacked after twice making an anti-gay slur in reference to T.R. Knight was just the beginning for the insane, attention-crazed star. He’s likened himself to Malcolm X and portrayed himself as a (delusional) martyr of sorts.

While he may have moved on to the set of NBC’s new Bionic Woman, and already signed a deal to star in his own series for NBC in 2008, it’s clear that Isaiah Washington hasn’t let the Grey’s Anatomy incident go.

For his next act, he will sack the tyrants. Isaiah Washington is laying low now, but rest assured, Grey’s creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes had better watch her back.

Sic Semper Tyrannis!

For Isaiah Washington & Other Insane Stars, Almost Any Publicity is Good Publicity

Isaiah Washington is InsaneIt’s been a banner month for insane actors.

First, there was Isaiah Washington, whose rocky comeback-from-scandal tour has kept celebrity gossip sites on the edge of their seats for months.

Last week, NBC hired Washington, the reputedly gay-bashing star, late of Grey’s Anatomy, in a deal that includes a temporary featured role on its new remake of Bionic Woman.

Executives then spent time and energy deflecting objections that this brand of stunt casting constituted a big fat dis to the gay community.

The Isaiah Washington drama was then accentuated by similarly bizarre antics from another long-running TV malcontent, Mandy Patinkin.

The day of the Washington announcement, publicists revealed that Patinkin, who unexpectedly left Chicago Hope years ago, had abruptly ditched yet another popular CBS drama, Criminal Minds, two months before the start of the fall season.

The studio seemed, initially, to be in a forgiving mood, mumbling stuff about “creative differences,” but that was later disputed by the show’s producer, who insisted that — in a rather Dave Chappelle style twist — Patinkin was simply a no-show at work.

By midweek, reporters were pelting CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler with questions about the odd turn of events, even dredging up the mutiny led by another suffering star, Mark Harmon, who reportedly worked overtime to get NCIS creator and producer Don Bellisario bumped off the show this year.

“‘Creative differences’ is a euphemism for ‘personal issues,’” Tassler said, and then winked. Knowingly.

As if to say, “Actors — they are nuts! Whatcha gonna do?”

Well, no arguments here. Look at Lindsay Lohan.

Isaiah Washington Signs New Deal With NBC

A surprise reunion for Isaiah Washington and two of his former Grey’s Anatomy co-stars - James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson - took place at an event for a good cause.

Crazy Isaiah Washington

The actor, who was let go from the ABC hit in June, unexpectedly showed up at Kiki Shepard’s 5th Annual Celebrity Bowling Challenge to “Bowl a Strike for Sickle Cell Disease” for charity at the PINZ Entertainment Center in Studio City, Calif.

Washington, who seemed in good spirits, in stark contrast to the aftermath of his firing, greeted Pickens with a pat on the back before the two got to chatting and catching up, then gave Wilson a hearty hug and kiss hello.

Carrying an unlit cigar, Washington opted not to bowl and instead compared himself to Malcolm X watched as Pickens showed off some of his skills with a few strikes and a couple of spares.

Washington has landed some new TV gigs, including a guest-starring role on this fall’s NBC remake of The Bionic Woman with Michelle Ryan.

He’s also landed a development deal as the lead star in a potential action drama he pitched to NBC for the 2008-09 season, according to USA Today, which was first to report his latest career moves.

While details of his character on The Bionic Woman remain a mystery, NBC co-chair Ben Silverman tells People that this could be a stepping stone for Washington.

“I think he could be an action star,” he said. “There aren’t any African-American action stars on television, so I thought [we would] give him a forum to do his thing.”

Silverman, who knows Washington through a mutual friend who’s organizing charitable events in Africa, made the decision to hire Washington based on personal knowledge rather than the hype surrounding his spat with T.R. Knight and Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s.

“I just think he’s a great actor,” says Silverman.

As for Washington’s former home base, with the Grey’s team having reported back to work last Monday, Wilson told People it just isn’t the same.

“There’s something’s missing,” said Wilson. “There are definitely big voids there, so you’re trying to figure out how do you work now with the voids … not only personally but for the characters … and what does that mean?’”

Pickens declined to discuss Washington but did offer some kind words for Kate Walsh, who is also gone, preparing to start her own show, Private Practice.

“She was such integral part of the cast and so beautiful and funny,” he said. “But I’m so happy for her with the new show. I wish her nothing but success with it.”

At Monday’s gathering of the cast - the first since Grey’s Anatomy broke in May - “We started with a vengeance,” said Wilson. “It’s like full 14-hour days already, so it didn’t feel like we took a break.”

Added Pickens: “You hit the ground running.”

Added to the cast is Chyler Leigh, who plays Lexie Grey, Meredith Grey’s half-sister and a new Seattle Grace intern.

“She’s really talented.” Pickens said of Chyler Leigh. “We’re looking forward to seeing how she integrates into the cast. I haven’t had any scenes with her, but from what I’ve seen I think she’s going to be a great addition.”

Arrogant Isaiah Washington Makes More Absurd Comments

Isaiah Washington is out to clear his name, but in the opinion of this celebrity news purveyor, he’s dragging it through the mud more with every ridiculous interview.

In fact, with every pompous remark that comes out of his mouth, the bitter actor illustrates what an arrogant jerk he can be - and the real reason he was fired. The irony.

The delusional actor blames co-star Patrick Dempsey’s repeated tardiness to the set for the blow-up which resulted in Washington using a gay slur - which, lest we forget, was not directed at T.R. Knight, alright!?!?

Insane Isaiah Washington

Interviewed last night on Larry King Live, the man who compared himself to Malcolm X last week (really) said he regretted not confronting Dempsey the first time he was late to the set, so he challenged him when Patrick dared pull that crap again.

But Dempsey wanted to delay the scene more to wait for Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dempsey’s love interest on the hit show, before shooting began.

“I said ‘I don’t need Ellen, I can act,’” Isaiah Washington told King. “And that was the moment that sent it into a different zone.”

According to Isaiah Washington, this is when Patrick Dempsey erupted.

“He became unhinged, sprayed spittle in my face,” said Washington. “I’m asking him why is he screaming at me… He just becomes irate.”

That’s when Washington said “a lot of things I’m not really proud of.”

“I said several bad words,” he said, quoting himself as telling Patrick Dempsey: “There’s no way you’re going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word.”

He said that the “F-word” was not meant as an anti-gay slur, but meant it not as a degrading term towards homosexuals, but rather just to signify “somebody who is being weak.”

So he’s not homophobic, just an arrogant ass. Glad we cleared that up!

Washington strongly denies he ever directed the word at costar T.R. Knight, who came out of the closet thereafter, as reported and insinuated by the press and fan sites.

“I am not homophobic, in no way, shape or form,” Washington said.

As for T.R. Knight claiming the slur was directed at him, Isaiah Washington said that is false and that the actor used the incident to his advantage.

“That’s a lie. He misrepresented himself,” Washington said. “He has been very disappointed in playing the character he has been playing. He told me that.”

But Washington said he felt badly about repeating the slur at the Golden Globes, when he dubiously attempted to explain the context in which he used it in the first place by grabbing a mic and stating angrily “I did not call T.R. a f@ggot. Never happened.”

“I wish I could take that back,” Washington admits.

Washington ultimately attended counseling and finished the filming Season 3 of Grey’s Anatomy, but was released from his contract a month ago. Both he and Kate Walsh, who was given her own spin-off, will not return for Season 4.

Larry King said on the air that the Grey’s Anatomy producers, as well as Patrick Dempsey and T.R. Knight, declined to comment on the incidents.

Fired, Bitter Isaiah Washington Playing Race Card

When Isaiah Washington used a homophobic slur on the set of Grey’s Anatomy, Katherine Heigl spoke out against him and T.R. Knight responded by coming out of the closet.

Now that he’s been dismissed from the hit ABC medical comedy / drama, his castmates have been dead quiet - and it’s Isaiah Washington who’s doing all the talking.

And being rather delusional in doing so.

Wow, if there were ever a person who made the stuff spewing out of Britney Spears‘ mouth appear lucid, well, it isn’t Washington. But man, he’s still nuts!

In an interview with Newsweek, Washington’s latest outburst covers racism, “homophobia rehab” and versions of events that may surprise. Read on for excerpts:

Isaiah Washington: Bitter

On the on-set fight with Patrick Dempsey:
Patrick Dempsey and I had a disagreement that got out of hand and that I regret a great deal. I said a lot of negative things that were never reported, but one word caught everyone’s attention, particularly someone who wasn’t even in the room with us. Someone heard the booming voice of a black man and got really scared and that was the end.”

On where that “one word” came from:
“Growing up in the South, I wasn’t exposed to as many different lifestyles and personalities as I could have been. That’s always a problem, because the more you’re exposed, clearly the more you know and understand.”

On his stint in counseling:

“There is no rehab for homophobia. That was just some crap put out by the network. I went into an executive counseling program which many people in this industry know about and go to. They knew what the program was but chose to call it what they wanted to fit their agenda.”

On the double standard of forgiveness:
“I apologized and showed remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone. If a black man can’t get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances … I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand.”

THG NOTE: Hey man, Paris Hilton went to jail, okay? She did hard time. You didn’t see her playing the race card. We don’t wanna hear about it!

On what he saw as existing prejudice:
“It didn’t help me that I was a black man who wasn’t a mush-mouth Negro walking around with his head in his hands all the time. I didn’t speak like I’d just left the plantation and that can be a problem for people sometime. I had a person in HR tell me after this thing played out that some people were afraid of me around the studio. I asked her why, because I’m a 6-foot-1, black man with dark skin and who doesn’t go around saying ‘Yessah, massa sir’ and ‘No sir, massa’ to everyone?

Isaiah Washington Compares Himself to Malcolm X, Loses All Perspective

Those people who think Isaiah Washington is homophobic are mistaken.

He’s homophobic and a self-righteous lunatic.

The former Grey’s Anatomy star is moving on with his life in the wake of being released from the ABC show, following his gay slur against T.R. Knight that set off a media firestorm. In the actor’s future? Africa… and perhaps martyrdom like the world has never seen.

Is That Isaiah Washington... “In the coming months, all I’m working on right now is trying to focus on day-to-day life and what I’m doing with the foundation, what I’m doing with the family,” Washington told People magazine. “It starts at the home.”

The actor is more self-involved than Tom Cruise talking about postpartum depression. Granted, he’s chairman of the Gondobay Manga Foundation, which works to improve life in Sierra Leone - and he’s traveled to various parts of Africa multiple times for charity work - but the man may have lost a bit of perspective along the way.

“Once you get awareness of who you are and how you’re here, then I believe there’s a responsibility that you have,” Washington said. “And seeing that I can afford to take part in that, I have to be responsible.”

That’s nice and all. But we wish the actor had stopped there, instead of making Elisabeth Hasselbeck sound like a rational person.

Asked if there were any misconceptions about him, Isaiah said: “I don’t know. Maybe for 50 years and the history of media and television I represent something that’s supposed to not exist. … This happened to Malcolm X, this happened to Paul Robeson – this misconception can happen to any man of power that loves himself and wants to spread that love and that humanity throughout the world.”

The Hollywood Gossip staff wasn’t aware that an African-American who hates gay people was so rare, so special. The comparison to Malcom X is almost as spot on as saying that Jessica Simpson is a modern day Joan of Arc.
