Miniature horse Judd and young Tyler Cribbs are best friends, but unlike most people and animals who share a special bond, theirs is rather specific.

Boy and Horse

Judd was born at the Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association in Grantville, Pa., with a condition that prevents him from supporting his own weight without splints.

The association offers horseback riding as therapy to patients with disabilities. Ironically, in the case of Judd, CARTA saw an opportunity to do the opposite.

"It's our turn to give therapy back," CATRA's Ben Nolt said. "There are horses who have had this in the past and recovered normally. We're sort of a wait and see."

An 11-year-old Florida girl was sent home from school with a letter informing her parents that she's overweight, a controversial practice by any measure.

But wait until you hear what she actually weighs ...

The girl is 5'5" and tips the scales at 124 pounds.

While that sounds like the definition of normal, the county health department came to Lily Grasso's middle school in Naples, Fla., to screen the kids.

Since Lily's BMI registered at 22, she was put into the "overweight" category and a (pejoratively nicknamed) "fat letter" was sent out, enraging her mom.

After a series of failed gender reassignment surgeries, a 44-year-old man in Belgium chose to end his life via euthanasia on Monday, reports indicate.

“I was the girl no one wanted,” Nathan Verhelst lamented to the Flemish newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, just a few hours before his elective death.

Belgian Man

Verhelst, who was born female, recalled to the newspaper’s reporters how he grew up in an unloving family, feeling like a boy trapped in a girl’s body.

He finally started hormone therapy in 2009 and underwent several reassignment surgeries in 2012, but they only made the situation worse for him.

While doctors did not publicly share the specifics of the surgeries, Verhelst told Het Laatste Nieuws that after the procedures, he felt like a monster.

Every bluefin tuna caught in California waters is believed to be contaminated with radiation that originated in Fukushima, according to a new report.

Yes, every single fish tested.

B'fin Tuna

In May of 2012, the Wall Street Journal reported on a Stanford University study by Daniel Madigan, a marine ecologist who was quoted as saying:

“The tuna packaged it up (the radiation) and brought it across the ocean ... we were surprised to see it at all and even more surprised to see it in every one.”

Another member of the study group added that "absolutely every one" of the tuna had comparable concentrations of cesium 134 and cesium 137.

Australian mother of three Maha Al Musa, 51, still breastfeeds her 5-year-old daughter, and vows to keep at it until age 10 if that's the child's wish.

The circumstances may sound extreme, but her reasoning is familiar and simple.

"I believe it helps boost her immune system. To this day, she is very rarely ill and her temperament is calmer and more relaxed than the other children," Al Musa says.

Whatever you think of her decision, the story has gone viral and sparked debate.

The Australian belly dancer practices extended breastfeeding, much like Jamie Lynne Grumet, the 26-year-old L.A. mom who covered Time last year.

Tired of taking anywhere nearly a minute-and-a-half to clean your teeth every morning and night? Let's face it: We all are.

Fortunately, the Blizzident toothbrush now exists.

Costing a mere $299, this invention looks a lot like a mouth guard with bristles… but it lasts for a year and it can allegedly get the cleaning job done in six seconds. Yes, six seconds!

Spokesman Chris Martin claims the Blizzident makes brushing your teeth "as easy as biting into an apple."

Jimmy Kimmel took to the public for another classic segment in which he asked people for their views on Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act.

It turns out, at least based on this small sample size, that plenty of people in America absolutely hate Obamacare, but love the Affordable Care Act.

Which is interesting, considering they are the exact. Same. Thing.

Obamacare, of course, is just a nickname - originally used pejoratively by opponents but later embraced by Obama himself - for the landmark legislation.

What Kimmel found is that many provisions of the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (its full name) are viewed positively by the public.

Obamacare, though? Don't even get them started on that debacle.

It may even be worth shutting down the federal government over.

Following months of speculation about Amanda Bynes‘ mental illness, a new report indicates that the star has both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The formal diagnosis was made while Amanda was still being treated at UCLA Medical Center, which she recently left for a rehab center in Malibu.

“It was difficult to process for her  parents," a source said, despite the fact that Amanda Bynes' mental illness was what they both expected.

The bright side here is that it is believed that Amanda can lead a long, healthy and normal life as long as she takes medication, according to insiders.

Doctors at the treatment facility "are still working to get her therapeutic meds and she’s responding to medication she is being given to treat her diagnosis.”
