Katherine Heigl is not only open to a return to Grey's Anatomy, she admits she's proactively asked if she can reprise her long-gone character, Dr. Izzie Stevens.

Surprising, after leaving the series on a bitter note two years ago after more than one public spat with its producers and ABC. But now she'd welcome a return.

Seriously. The One For the Money star said in a recent interview:

Katie Heigl Pic

"I've told them I want to I don't know... Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated ... how many characters are there now?"

"She's balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don't know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."

"I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she's doing now," she adds.

"My idea is that she actually like figures it out, and finds some success at a different hospital. She was always floundering, always one step behind the eight ball."

"I want to see that girl take some power back."

Jessica Capshaw has been married to Christopher Gavigan, founder of The Honest Co. and former CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World, since 2004.

She is certainly going to be a busy mom, juggling her hit series with a new baby and 14-month-old daughter Eve and 4-year-old son Luke at home.

The Grey's Anatomy extended family keeps growing, as Eric Dane welcomed his second daughter Georgia on December 28, and Sarah Drew is pregnant as well.

Congratulations to all!

Get ready to say your McByes, Grey's Anatomy fans.

Patrick Dempsey, who has been with the ABC series since its premiere and who has seen his career resurrected as the result of playing Dr. Derek Sheperd, has made it official: the 2011-2012 season will be his last.

"I do not know what’s going to happen to the other characters, but for me it’s done," the actor says in Italian Vanity Fair, saying the decision is “bittersweet because it’s been great and a great part of my life. But I can’t see me doing it anymore.”

Dempsey's rep tells E! News his client "was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season and we have no idea what the future holds," but rumors have ran rampant that both Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo will make season eight their last.

That actress' deal is also up next spring.

Can Grey's Anatomy go on without its two leads? Most likely. Creator Shonda Rhimes has made it clear she's open to continuing without Meredith and Derek and, hey, there's even another Grey on board in the former of Chyler Leigh's Lexie.

But would you watch the show without MerDer? That's the question, viewers. Answer it now:

The Grey’s Anatomy baby boom continues.

“The family is thrilled to welcome their newest addition,” Jessica’s rep said of Eve, who joins three-year-old Luke and husband Christopher Gavigan.

The beautiful 33-year-old mother of two is the daughter of actress Kate Capshaw, and stepdaughter of legendary producer/director Steven Spielberg.

As previously reported on Access Hollywood, Jessica and Christopher married in May 2004, and the actress announced her second pregnancy in April.

She certainly has company among her fellow cast members.

Ellen Pompeo gave birth to her daughter, Stella Luna, in September 2009, and Eric Dane welcomed daughter Billie Beatrice this March. Congrats!

Pity Joe Jonas ... and any guy in a committed relationship.

Sometimes, the girlfriend/wife makes you do stuff you don't want to, like watch Grey's Anatomy. Although at least in Joe's case, his girl's gonna be on the show.

"I don't think [Joe] has ever watched, but I'm gonna make him," Demi Lovato says of tonight's episode, in which she guest stars a patient with mental issues.

"I'm gonna show him how amazing it is."

Demi herself clearly doesn't need much convincing in that regard. You won't believe how the Disney star acted when she met the cast before her guest role.

"Um, hi! Can I just say hi? I'm just…a really big fan." Spoken like a true fangirl. "I just saw Teddy, and Owen, and the Chief, and I got really starstruck!"

WHIPPED: There's no other excuse for watching Grey's Anatomy ... just kidding. We'll be watching right along with Joe Jonas. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com]

"I'm a huge fan [of Grey's]. Obsessed. It's not healthy. People know on Sonny with a Chance, ‘OK, she's gotta be home at 8:45 so she can watch [Grey's].'"

Fortunately, Joe has nothing to worry about, as most of the cast members are twice her age and married. But Demi's character has plenty to worry about.

"I'm playing a possible schizophrenic, and I hear every sound in my body from my heart beating to my eyes moving, muscles flexing, blood rushing," Demi spills. "I hear everything going on in my body and I can't take it and try to claw my eyes out."

That would explain the glam-rock makeup, which Demi laughs is "a little Lady Gaga-esque. I've been doing a lot of crying so it's probably worn off by now."

Okay, this we've gotta see.

One could forgive Demi Lovato for being star struck meeting the Grey's Anatomy cast in preparation for her guest role, but the 17-year-old is no slouch herself.

The Disney mainstay will be portraying a frightened patient named Hayley who may suffer from schizophrenia (see claw marks in the intense promo pic below).

Grey's Anatomy is a dream role for her,” says her Camp Rock co-star and real-life boyfriend Joe Jonas. “It’s great people are going to see her do different things."

"I’m really proud of her.”

If Joe's proud of Demi, who's been catching up on past Grey's Anatomy seasons during breaks from filming the Camp Rock sequel, than so are we. So are we.

Demi on Greys

Demi Lovato is coming to Grey's Anatomy May 13. The following week, Mandy Moore will be guest starring on the long-running medical drama's two-hour season finale.

We haven't heard from Mandy Moore since she agreed to marry Kellan Lutz.

In a move slated for production later this year, that is. They're not dating or anything. In fact, last year, Mandy Moore married Ryan Adams in real life.

Today, it was announced that the actress-singer-songwriter is making a TV splash, slated to guest star on the two-hour Grey's Anatomy finale May 20.

Details surrounding the super-secret gig are being kept under wraps, at least until Shonda Rhimes drops Grey's Anatomy spoilers to spark interest.

It should be fun to see this cutie on the medical drama. But given the amount of people to die on its season finales, we'd better be prepared to cry.

Demi Lovato is coming to Grey's Anatomy in an upcoming episode of the hit show.

She confirmed the news on her Twitter, and we've learned that she's totally replacing Katherine Heigl! Okay, not really, but she is filming one scene with Alex.

"Demi and Justin Chambers [Alex, husband of Izzie's character] are shooting a scene together tomorrow morning on the set of Grey's Anatomy," reports say.

The Disney star will play a schizophrenia patient in a May episode. "Everyone's super excited around here," Twittered Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes.

Demi, who is dating Joe Jonas, herself Twittered that, "Mr. Patrick Dempsey himself wants me to give a shoutout to all you guys! hahahaha so awesome."

She also called the guest spot a "lifelong dream" and wrote "I'm so thrilled to announce that this week I'm shooting Grey's Anatomy!!!!!!!! :D AHHH!!!!"

Pretty much sums it up right there, doesn't it?

Katherine Heigl is leaving Grey’s Anatomy. That you already know, or at least probably suspected. But now the star has officially confirmed the news herself.

I am done,” she said. “We finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working hard to find an amicable way of moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.”

The actress says that it was family issues, not her burgeoning film career, that prompted her to approach series creator Shonda Rhimes and ask to be let go.

Not sure if we buy that, as she's been angling to be let go for several seasons now and just became a mom late last year, but hey, it definitely sounds better.

“I started a family and it changed everything,” says Heigl, of adopted daughter, Naleigh, with husband Josh Kelley. “It changed my desire to work full-time.”

COMING CLEAN: As much as Katherine Heigl can, anyway.

Although she was scheduled to appear in this season’s final five episodes, that is not happening. The January 21 episode was the last we'll see of her on the hit series that basically made her huge, as she's already been on three-month maternity leave.

“I know I’m disappointing the fans,” she says of her contentious, immature departure. “I just had to make a choice. I hope I made the right one.”

One way to redeem herself to some fans ASAP?

More Katherine Heigl nude scenes. Hot damn!

Having become the perpetual subject of rumors for her unhappiness on the set, Katherine Heigl is finally leaving Grey's Anatomy after five seasons and change.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes has agreed to release the actress from her deal.

The question is why now, after she's been disgruntled with the series for over two years, but after she unexpectedly came back at the start of the current year?

Because after taking more than half the current season off to make another movie and hang with her adopted daughter, Heigl was scheduled to return March 1.

She did not show.

Katherine Heigl's tenure on Grey's Anatomy has climaxed.

A Heigl source claims that Katherine “was at home and ready to return to work.” Another insider, however, “insists that it’s much more complicated than that.”

Whatever happened, Heigl and ABC mutually decided that the best solution would be to part ways now, rather than waiting for the end of the current season.

Therefore, you've officially seen the last of Dr. Izzie Stevens. Clearly, no love is lost on either side as this ridiculous behind-the-scenes saga finally fades to black.

It's hard to imagine it being managed worse by either side, but it's over now. Will Heigl's career continue to take off? Or is she only hurting it by bolting Grey's?
