Grey's Anatomy Co-Star: Katherine Heigl, T.R. Knight No Longer Fans of Show, Expect to Be Cut Loose Soon
Grey's Anatomy spoiler alert! After months of rumors that stars Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight may be leaving the show, their co-star James Pickens, Jr., a.k.a. The Chief, has added fuel to the fire by sort of confirming they are:
"Yes, she is," he said when asked by Us Weekly if Heigl will exit the show that made them famous. "Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best."
As for Knight, Pickens said, "He's going too."
The network and studio say they cannot confirm anything, and Katherine Heigl's and T.R. Knight's personal reps have declined to comment on the subject.
However, an ABC source says, "There's no way [James Pickens] could know that, because nothing has been decided yet. Nothing has been written and [Heigl and Knight] are still working out what will happen next season with the network."
T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl want out of Grey's Anatomy.
According to inside sources who work closely with Grey's Anatomy, it is likely that Heigl and T.R. Knight will make an exit at the end of the current fifth season.
Both have asked to leave. However, ABC needs to sign off on letting them out of their contracts, which extend six years, and that hasn't been done.
So why did Pickens say they are leaving?
"I don't think James meant to say what he did," one insider said. "I think he was thrown by the line of questioning and didn't realize what he was saying."
Chyler Leigh is Pregnant!
Grey's Anatomy star Chyler Leigh is going to be a mom again!
The 26-year-old actress and her actor/musician husband, Nathan West, are expecting their third child, her rep confirmed this afternoon.
"She is a little over four months pregnant," her rep said, adding that "Grey's Anatomy won't be writing her pregnancy into their storyline."
Chyler Leigh and Nathan West are parents to Noah Wilde, 5, and Taelyn, 2.
She just missed the cut for our tribute to the Celebrity Babies of 2008, but we expect Chyler and Nathan's little bundle of joy to lead the 2009 entrants!
T.R. Knight Hearts Mark Cornelsen, Hates Grey's Anatomy
Besides the story lines progressively sucking harder each year, Grey's Anatomy seems to have a major problem on its hands: keeping its cast intact.
The newest rumor, which has pretty much been confirmed: T.R. Knight (George O'Malley) wants out of his contract and the show is poised to oblige.
In the past year and a half, we've now seen ...
- Isaiah Washington refer to Knight by a gay slur twice, ultimately causing Knight to come out of the closet and Washington to be dismissed
- Katherine Heigl, one season after winning an Emmy Award for her role on the show, publicly complain that her character's story lines suck
- Kate Walsh bolt for a medicore spin-off, Private Practice
- Brooke Smith get hired as a full-time cast member, then fired just 10 episodes later after ABC didn't like her character's girl-on-girl action
- T.R. Knight, having allegedly become a malcontent, ask to be released from the show, which he soured on ever since Washington-gate
This is too bad, as Knight was always a bright spot and fan favorite on the series. At least he and his boyfriend, Mark Cornelsen, are still going strong. Here they are out seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in L.A. last night ...

Grey's Anatomy Sucks - Just Ask Katherine Heigl
Never one to shy away from speaking her mind, Katherine Heigl has taken herself out of the running for the upcoming 60th Annual Emmy Awards.
The reason? Last year's Best Supporting Actress said Grey's Anatomy, her hit show for four seasons, just didn't give her enough to work with.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season that warrants an Emmy Award nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," Katherine Heigl told the Los Angeles Times.
"In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from another actress who was given such materials."
Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl sure is full of hot air!
Heigl's latest controversial comments either reflect a gracious gesture to her fellow actresses, or a dubious and obnoxious indictment of the people who put her in those non-Emmy situations - the Grey's Anatomy writing staff.
Our guess is it's the latter. While we admit, the show took a swan dive off a cliff creatively in the past year, who does this girl think she is? Oooh, we're so sorry they didn't give you enough to work with, Katherine! Get over yourself.
Will Grey's Anatomy Amaze or Jump the Shark Tonight?
If Grey's Anatomy has any fans left, tonight's two-hour fourth season finale is supposedly the night you've been waiting for!
Just kidding. The show still draws millions of loyal viewers. Yet it's been a long time since something interesting happened on it.
Well, that supposedly changes tonight. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) are going to be getting together for good.
We know this because the show's own creator and producer, Shonda Rhimes, has already said so publicly. We don't get it either.
Anyway, here's a photo from tonight's show. Meredith is holding what looks like champagne, ready to celebrate ... something.
More than three years later, will a terrific episode finally bring Meredith and Derek together - or will the hit medical drama jump the shark for good?
Also, Alex and Izzie may or may not get together, and there's another love triangle involving possible girl-on-girl action. Gotta love Grey's Anatomy!
Scrub: Katherine Heigl Looks to Bolt Grey's Anatomy
Just weeks after Grey's Anatomy returned with new episodes, sources are saying Katherine Heigl is itching to bolt and hang up her scrubs. Again.
This is not the first time this rumor has circulated. Nor will it be the last. Heigl is said to be dreaming of bigger and better things.
"She's working really long hours and is ready to move on," a source close to the actress told MSNBC.
Fifteen months ago, Heigl renegotiated her Grey's Anatomy contract. The net result was that the negotiations went public and she got the raise she wanted from the show, but questions about her status have lingered.
ZZZZ: Being extremely hot and full of one's self is hard work!
Compounding the issue is the fact that Heigl has already had significant big-screen success with her leading roles in Knocked Up and 27 Dresses. She's slated to star with Gerard Butler in The Ugly Truth next.
"She is smart. She saw what can happen with somebody like Jennifer Aniston, who was crazy successful on TV, but can't seem to carry a film, and she tested the waters early," said a movie industry source.
Even so, Katherine Heigl might be locked into Grey's Anatomy a bit longer. "I don't think she'll be able to get out of it," the source said of her contract.
Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Love Hewitt: Sexiest TV Stars
Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt and Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey were recently voted the sexiest stars on TV by TV Guide.
Hard to argue with that logic. The respective hotties will appear on two alternative covers of the TV magazine's "Sexiest Stars" issue.
In honor of the (well-deserved, sexy) honors earned by Jennifer Love Hewitt and Patrick Dempsey, here is a very sexy photo of each. Enjoy ...
J. Love and Patrick Dempsey: The sexiest stars on TV.
All we have to say about these pics is that McDreamy is living up to his McNickname, and man, all those ghosts Jennifer Love Hewitt whispers to on the CBS TV show she apparently stars on are pretty damn lucky.
Patrick Dempsey on Fame, Family, Grey's Anatomy
McDreamy is no McSteamy, Patrick Dempsey admits.
"I'm not Eric Dane â" McSteamy is in perfect shape" the Grey's Anatomy star tells the new issue of Parade Magazine. "I definitely have pec envy."
"There's a lot of pressure being a man in this town."
He says his wife of eight years, Jillian, keeps him grounded.
"She always says in the morning, âThey should see you now!'" jokes Dempsey, who adds that fame "gets very heady ... you've got to be very careful.
"I think I've been managing that well. This is a great opportunity now to really define the next part of my life. I just want to do it right."
Defining the life of Patrick Dempsey these days at home? His daughter Tallulah, 6, and his one-year-old twins, Darby and Sullivan.
"It's like a slapstick routine watching these drunk little men run around because they're so wobbly," he says. "When you see something happen that they couldn't do the day before, it's really heartwarming."
As for what happens tonight with Meredith and Derek? That you'll have to wait and see, although Dempsey says he's "excited" for the couple to finally move forward and grow together.
Patrick and the rest of the Grey's Anatomy cast return at 9 p.m. on ABC. How well do you know the hit medical drama? Follow this link for an exclusive Grey's Anatomy quiz!
Grey's Anatomy's Sandra Oh Dating Andrew Featherston
Sandra Oh, 36, one of the most talented members of a great Grey's Anatomy cast, takes a stroll with her musician boyfriend Andrew Featherson through the streets of Los Feliz, Calif., on Sunday afternoon. See below ...
Sandra Oh and Andrew Featherston: Blinded by love... and sun glare.
Andrew Featherson is a percussionist in the independent band The Hereafter. No word on how long Sandra Oh and Featherson have been together, but it looks like they had a nice day, riding mountain bikes and enjoying the great outdoors.
Sandra Oh officially divorced her ex-husband, Sideways writer-director Alexander Payne, just last week, although they had been separated since 2005.
She's Back: The Sports Gal Lays Into Grey's Anatomy
Although she is no longer be blogging about The Bachelor, The Sports Gal - a.k.a. the wife of ESPN's Bill Simmons (The Sports Guy) - still occasionally drops some knowledge on the masses regarding pop cultural topics of the day.
In the crosshairs this week: Grey's Anatomy, which she says might drop clear out of her must-TiVo list any day now. Here's what the hilarious Sports Gal says...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I used to look forward to Thursday nights; now I look forward to Friday Night Lights, Gossip Girl, Tell Me You Love Me and Californication.
Grey's Anatomy jumped the shark when T.R. Knight's dork character cheated on his overweight wife with blonde, beautiful, leggy Izzie - a relationship about as realistic as Spencer Pratt from The Hills getting a job.
I'm also a tad fed up with the whole McDreamy / McSteamy thing. The usage of "Mc" for cute guys has been carried way too far. I read something this week that Seth Green was going to be on a future episode as a "sick guy" and the writer referred to him as "McSicky."
McSicky? Come on. Let's stop before we have a McFatty and a McHairlip.
The big problem is that the show became too successful and we know too much about the cast now. I used to think McDreamy was hot until I found out he just had twins and his previous marriage was to a woman twice his age.
TMI! Can I just see Patrick Dempsey pictures with his shirt off please?
I used to really like McSteamy, too, until I kept seeing him in Us Weekly with Dylan McKay's dead wife (Rebecca Gayheart) - they creep me out, though not as much as Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott.
Also, the Isaiah Washington saga overshadowed last season when Katherine Heigl (who plays Izzie) defended T.R., who seemed so wounded by everything (I felt so bad for him). Now, we're supposed to be watching T.R. and Izzy have an affair?
I know it's acting, but come on! Every time they have "sexual tension," I'm watching them and thinking about what a good friend Katherine Heigl was and how I wish I had my own dorky gay friend that I could defend against mean jerks like Isaiah Washington. Now I'm just McBored.
