Ah, live television and Mariah Carey.

As many American Idol viewers found out this season, these can make for a dangerous combination.

During an appearance today on Good Morning America, the singer first complained about being awake at the early hour of 8:30.

She then suffered a mini wardrobe malfunction when the back of her Donatella Versace popped and her handlers scrambled to keep her breasts in place. Watch Lara Spencer try to work through the craziness now:

Later, Carey awkwardly held her mic pack as she crooned "Always Be My Baby and then grew frustrated enough during another mishap to yell: "Oh s--t! You didn't hear that."

Sorry, Mariah, we did. And somewhere Nicki Minaj is laughing her glitter-covered rear end off.

With Matt Lauer facing unending criticism, and the decision to sloppily fire Ann Curry still reverberating around NBC, Today has lost its stranglehold in the ratings game.

Led by George Stephanopoulos and a returning Robin Roberts, Good Morning America is on top for the first time on ages, while Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell are pretty much just hanging out at CBS.

The forecast for weatherman Sam Champion is clear: bright and clear with a lifetime of happiness to come.

The Good Morning America star announced this week that he's engaged to photographer Rubem Robierb, appearing yesterday on the program and thanking viewers for their "amazing response" to the news.

"I felt like we lived in a small town," Champion said of the reception he's enjoyed. "I was born in Paducah, Kentucky and to me that's exactly what it felt like. We walked out on the street and everyone was like, 'Hey, congratulations.'"

Robin Roberts announced today that she is leaving Good Morning America one day earlier than scheduled, not due to her impending bone marrow transplant, but as a result of Hurricane Isaac.

She is flying home to Mississippi to be with her ailing 88-year-old mother, Lucimarian, along with her family, which is in the eye of the storm.

"I know the journey ahead will not be easy," said Roberts, who is dealing with a blood disorder known as Myelodysplastic Syndrome. "Just know that I'm going to come back here as soon as I can."

Robin Roberts as Co-Anchor

In Roberts' temporary absence, Good Morning America will welcome a number of high-profile guest anchors. Among them, it's been confirmed: Oprah Winfrey, Chrid Rock, Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Kelly Ripa and the Modern Family cast.

"This means so much [that] these friends are stepping up like this," Roberts said. "I love them for that!"

Evelyn Lozada is ready to break her silence.

The Basketball Wives star has cut herself off entirely from the press since Chad Johnson head-butted her (allegedly), and has not spoken a word to the former NFL standout.

Her media blackout will end with an interview on Good Morning America.

Chad was cut loose by the Miami Dolphins days after his arrest, and VH1 pulled the duo's reality show. She filed for divorce in the wake of his domestic violence arrest.

Both have been laying extremely low of late.

Evelyn Lozada decided to do her first post-split interview with the ABC morning show because of Robin Roberts, who she respects her so much as a journalist.

Robin is stepping aside from GMA to undergo a bone marrow transplant, however, and Evelyn's interview will now be conducted by Amy Robach.

Robin Roberts previewed her upcoming leave of absence from Good Morning America last night, as the anchor will soon be taking a break to undergo treatment for a rare blood disorder.

"It's fascinating-slash-scary how to prepare yourself for something like this," Roberts, who has already survived breast cancer, said at the Television Critics Association press tour.

She will be off the air for awhile, starting late next month, to receive a a bone marrow transplant meant to treat myelodysplastic syndromes, a disease of the blood and bone marrow.

Robin Roberts on GMA

How is she feeling at the moment? Roberts admitted to "moments of fatigue," but she cited her program's recent ratings as a major elixir.

"The run that we've had has truly energized me," Roberts said. "It's pretty good medicine, I gotta say, to be taking!"

As for the "wonderful friends" who will be occupying this anchor's seat? Roberts said she looks forward to Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric and others sustaining the show's momentum alongside George Stephanopoulos.

We do, too. But we most look forward to the day a happy and healthy Roberts is back in that chair.

Katie Couric is back on morning television. For a week, anyway.

The former Today host, who left to anchor the CBS Evening News six years ago, will fill in for vacationing Robin Roberts on Good Morning America next week.

“Katie Couric is going to be sitting in this chair next to George Stephanopoulos,” Roberts said, confirming the report. “We’re all thrilled to have Katie.”

Couric’s ABC deal for a new syndicated daytime show includes ABC News duties, and she joins GMA when the morning show's ratings are on the rise.

For the most recent week, GMA averaged 4.73 million total viewers and a 1.9/12 among adults 25-54, compared to Today‘s 4.99 million and 1.8/14.

Couric tweeted of the pressure to keep it up:

“Serious pressure filling in for the fab @RobinRoberts! Rise + shine! Excited to be back on morning TV next wk, guest hosting @GMA w/ @GStephanopoulos.”
