Salma Hayek and Madonna both gave new meaning to the term "Golden Globes" last night, donning outfits that accentuated their impressive bosoms.

First, Hayek appeared on stage to present an award alongside Antonio Banderas. We have no idea what it was for. Our attention was elsewhere.

Then, Madonna actually won a trophy for "Masterpiece," her original song from W.E. Again, we assume that was the case. We were focused on the breasts trying to escape from this singer's dress.

Take a close, long, hard look at both of these stars from the 2012 ceremony and weigh in now: Which did a better job accentuating her ample cleavage?

Rooney Mara had a major reason to be happy last night, as the New York Giants - the team founded by her great grandfather, Tim - stunned the Packers in Green Bay and moved on to the NFC Championship Game.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star also looked beautiful on the red carpet of the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, although, alas, her evening was not punctuated with a victory of her own.

But perhaps that can be salvaged. Below, we compare Mara's style at the event with that of another young nominee, Shailene Woodley of The Descendants and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Compare fashion choices and cast your vote now!

Kate Beckinsale will not be winning any awards for Underworld Awakening, which opens this weekend. But her dress on the red carpet last night? Four star material!

The 2012 Golden Globe winners didn't contain many shockers, and the same was true of the pre-show red carpet. The stars we expect to look fabulous certainly did.

Giving Beckinsale a run for her money? Reese Witherspoon in red. The 35-year-old looked stylish and stunning, as did the 38-year-old Beckinsale. The only question ...

Who was the best dressed of the two? Vote for your favorite style star below!

Did the 2012 Golden Globe winners go according to plan? Or were there any big surprises? Are the Oscar favorites more or less cemented right now?

The Help, The Artist, The Descendants and Hugo proved they are early Oscar leaders, with each film taking home some hardware Sunday evening.

The Artist’s wins for Best Score and Best Actor for Jean Dujardin kept the critical favorite squarely in the driver’s seat as an early Oscar favorite.

After winning Best Actor for The Descendants, George Clooney is the man to beat for the honor at the Oscars. That film was also the best drama.

Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical went to The Artist, while Meryl Streep won Best Actress (shocker) as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement went to Morgan Freeman (above), who received the honor from Sidney Poitier and Helen Mirren.

On the TV side, Homeland, Modern Family and Downton Abbey were the big winners.

Kicking off the night was a Ricky Gervais monologue that went after stars such as Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian this year. So ... there's that.

Here's the list of Golden Globe winners for 2012:

Best Motion Picture, Drama
The Descendants

Compared to his monologue from 2011, Ricky Gervais took it very easy on celebrities to open tonight's Golden Globe Awards. Celebrities in attendance, that is.

The comedian did get in a couple of digs at two THG mainstays, however, first comparing this ceremony to the Academy awards via this zinger:

“The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton. A bit louder, bit trashier, bit drunker, and more easily bought... allegedly.”

  • Kim Kardashian with Bangs
  • Hands in His Pockets

Gervais then turned his attention to Justin Bieber, referring to his paternity test scandal and expressing shock at the mere notion of Bieber as a father. Quipped the host:

“The only way that he could have impregnated a girl is if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart’s turkey basters.”

Eh, not bad. Fairly random, considering music is the one industry NOT recognized by the Golden Globes, but, hey, being referenced in a monologue means you've really made it. Wait, no one tell that to Kim.

Guess Ricky Gervais was not "totally unacceptable" as 2011 Golden Globes host after all.

Following a controversial stint MCing the ceremony in January - relive his best jokes HERE - the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has confirmed that the creator of The Office will return to the stage in a couple months.

Ricky Gervais Picture

“I mustn’t come out there as everyone’s mate and schmooze. That’s nauseating,” Gervais said following this year's gig. "I’m sorry if [people] were offended but I’m not sorry for anything I said. They hired me for a job and if they didn’t want me, they shouldn’t have hired me."

The 2012 Golden Globes will air on NBC on January 15. Are you excited for Gervais to host again?

He implied that Tom Cruise was gay. He made references to Robert Downey Jr. in rehab. He thanked God for making him an atheist.

At almost every opportunity during Sunday night's Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais went out of his way to subvert the atmosphere and people around him. But while the host says he has no regrets, Philip Berk has a different response.

Ricky Gervais Picture

Says the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who was lambasted as a senile man by Gervais during the ceremony: "He definitely crossed the line. Some of the things were totally unacceptable... Any of the references to individuals is certainly not something the Hollywood Foreign Press condones."

But many of them are things at which the public laughed. Watch Gervais in action and then vote: Did he go too far?
