Over the years, Glee has tackled controversial issues relevant to teens, from suicide to bullying to abuse to texting while driving.

But the show actually aired an episode last night based around a school shooting, the fallout from which has left viewers either loving the bold step or reacting in horror that a musical comedy would dare go there.

Brittany, Sam, Lord Tubbington

The installment featured various characters stuck in various parts of the school when a gunshot rang out.

Glee has cast a mother for Artie.

And she's a serious bad ass.

Katey Sagal - who cracked us up for years on Married with Children but now wears a far more dramatic face on Sons of Anarchy - will guest star on Season 4 of the Fox musical as the parent of Kevin McHale's wheelchair-bound choir member.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy announced the news last night on Twitter.

Glee star Cory Monteith has checked himself into rehab for substance addiction.

Monteith's rep confirmed to People that the 30-year-old entered treatment voluntarily, telling the magazie:

"He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

This is Monteith's second time in rehab.

He admitted in a 2011 interview that he had a substance abuse problem as a teenager and first sought treatment when he was 19. We wish him well in his recovery.

As noted in our Les Miserables review, we weren't huge fans of this big screen adaption.

But Anne Hathaway deserves all the Oscar buzz circulating around Hollywood, thanks to her rendition of the classic track "I Dreamed a Dream."

Was it the best version we've heard of this single over the last few years, though?

Susan Boyle rose to fame by covering the song on Britain's Got Talent, while Lea Michele and Idina Menzel teamed up for a rendition on Glee.

Listen to all three now and vote on your favorite:

Glee creator Ryan Murphy would like to wish you a very happy holiday season.

A very happy shirtless holiday season, that is!

In a photo recently Tweeted by the show's creator, star Darren Criss poses half-naked, surrounded by candy canes and donning a pair of Santa pants.

"Men of McKinley calendar coming soon," Murphy teased along with the image, although it's unclear if this item will actually be available any time soon.

Still, you can print out the above photo and stuff it in as many stockings as you'd like. All at no charge!

Glee Season 4, meanwhile, resumes with new episodes on Thursday, January 10.

There will be no sex, but there will be talk of a city for Sarah Jessica Parker on Glee this week.

The actress makes her debut as a Vogue.com editor named Isabelle tomorrow night, bonding with Chris Colfer's Kurt over their shared native state of Ohio.

Yes, this is another character very much in to shoes and fashion, but it's clear from the introduction of Isabelle that she has a very differnet vibe than Carrie Bradshaw.

Oops, Glee did it again. And it pissed Britney Spears off this time.

The Fox musical aired its second tribute episode in honor of the pop icon last Thursday, but sources tell Access Hollywood that Spears felt anything but honored by how she was portrayed.

Her manager spoke to Billy Bush and said the artist’s team was unaware the show would revisit Britney’s troubled times - referencing her infamous buzzcut and atrocious "Gimme More" performance at the 2007 Video Music Awards - and was “livid” over the depiction.

Dianna Agron did not appear on the Glee Season 4 premiere.

And questions are now being raised over how much more we'll see of the actress in the role of Quinn Fabray.

Dianna Agron as Quinn

According to Us Weekly, Agron has worked out an early exit from the musical comedy. She'll only make a couple more appearances before saying goodbye.

"Dianna was unhappy and had been trying to get off the show for a while," claims the Glee insider. "She and producers came to an agreement where they let her go. That's what she wanted."

Based on the character's storyline, Quinn is a freshman at Yale, meaning it would be easy to simply write her out.

However, another series source says this story is "patently false." Where does the truth lie? You may need to tune in to Fox on Thursdays night after The X Factor to find out.
