Just one month after undergoing a double lumpectomy, Giuliana Rancic is on the mend, optimistic and extolling the virtues of her early breast cancer detection.

"I'm hanging in there," she tells Parade. "I have good days and bad days."

Once a self-proclaimed "nervous wreck" about revealing her health news, the E! host says she's grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.

The Rancics

"I know it sounds so cliché, but I think it helped me recover much quicker, and it got me in better spirits," Rancic, 36, says of the fan feedback. "The word I kept seeing over and over again was 'strong.' 'Be strong. You're strong.'"

"That word never meant so much to me as it has this past month."

Rancic, who discovered malignant tumors in the early stages during a mammogram while undergoing IVF treatments, underwent a two-hour surgery that removed cancer in both breasts as well as lymph nodes that may have been affected.

"Early detection means too much," she says. "I want women everywhere to make sure they're taking care of their health and being proactive."

Just one week after announcing that she has breast cancer, Giuliana Rancic is back in the house at E! News. She will anchor E! News tonight as per usual.

"I'm so thrilled to get back to work and return to my E! family today," she said.

"I still have a long road ahead, but thanks to everyone's overwhelming love, support and prayers, it will be an easier journey. The E! viewers have helped me to get through this and stay strong more than they will ever know."

"I will be eternally grateful to them for their love," she added.

The Fashion Police cohost went public with her breast cancer diagnosis on October 17. She underwent surgery late last week and was placed on bed rest.

So what's next for everyone's favorite entertainment maven?

Husband Bill Rancic said that Giuliana is expected to start radiation treatment in about a month's time, "after she heals and has her strength back."

In the meantime, it's business as usual for the E! personality. We're happy the first phase of her recovery is complete and normal life is resuming.

Giuliana Rancic's road to recovery has begun.

The E! News personality announced Monday that she has breast cancer, and two days later had a double lumpectomy to remove it, hopefully for good.

Thankfully, husband Bill told the Today Show Thursday that Giuliana is "doing well" post-surgery. That said, "It was kind of a long day," Bill explained.

Get Well Giuliana

"There's many steps in the process if you go through this. Since it was on both breasts, the morning started with a two hour MRI where they had to put a guide wire in so the surgeon knew exactly what area to remove."

After a mammogram of the other breast and repeating the process, "we went into the surgery [which] lasted about two hours," Bill said. "She's a trooper."

"She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out. At this point she's doing well at home and recovering."

Giuliana Rancic has cancer.

The E! personality had an announcement to make during a Monday appearance on Today, which we expected to be a joyous one: That she was pregnant at last.

That made the actual announcement all the more heartbreaking. "I have early stage breast cancer," the 37-year-old told Today host Ann Curry, adding that her doctor made the frightening discovery back in August as she was about to begin IVF.

Rancic explained that her doctor sternly insisted that she get a mammogram before going through with the third IVF treatment. That might have saved her life.

The star, who said she has no family history of breast cancer, "wasn't prepared to get a mammogram until I was 40 years old," she admitted.

"I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong."

When the hospital called a few days later to tell her the shocking news, Rancic says she was "sobbing... It was like the world just crashed around me."

Even Giuliana Rancic thinks LeAnn Rimes is too thin. Not a good sign.

The E! News personality, known for a slender figure herself, recently said she'd love to feed Rimes, saying "She lost a lot of weight from all the stress in her life. She seems a little thin right now and I think she looks great when she's a bit curvier."

Last night, LeAnn heard about Rancic's advice and was not happy.

Rimes Tweeted: "@GiulianaRancic hey, we should go to dinner sometime. You get criticized all the time for how small you are ... You can see just HOW MUCH I eat and maybe put a stop to this crazy 'shrinking' once and for all."

"Then we should workout together! Good luck with your restaurant!!!!"

LeAnn gets testy about her weight, as we know. One of her own fans soon found this out firsthand after she mixed it up with her on the subject.

Giuliana and Bill Rancic's infertility struggles have been a huge part of their reality show Giuliana & Bill. But the duo is taking a break from trying to conceive.

"[Having a baby is] always on my mind," Giuliana said, noting that she's turning over a new leaf. "But we're not actively trying. Right now is the year of fun."

"In the first episode, we're talking about it, and we heard bad news. Bill's like, 'You know what? Let's get back to who we are and have a year of fun.'"

Giuliana and Bill

The couple vowed to think positive and to enjoy "all of the things we couldn't do if we had a baby," like "traveling" and "drinking lots of wine."

While Rancic, E!'s resident celebrity fashion expert, admitted she felt "vulnerable" sharing her struggle, she also found it very rewarding.

"This guy came up to me, and he was like, 'Oh, I just want to thank you and your husband. You inspire my wife ... she's going through IVF, and we know we're not completely alone,' It's really nice [to inspire others]," she said.

"[And it's nice] that we can use our profiles to talk about it and make people feel better about themselves."
