The topic of who should play Christian and Ana in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie has become an ongoing fantasy casting game.

Young Hollywood fan favorites such as Ian Somerhalder and Lucy Hale have been rumored for the big roles, but who will direct the picture?

Possibly one HUGE name you never saw coming.

None other than Angelina Jolie is in talks to direct the movie, based on the best-selling erotic novel by E.L. James, according to Deadline.

The Oscar winner has reportedly had "a conversation or two" about stepping up to direct Fifty Shades of Grey, which Universal Pictures bought the rights to.

A close Angelina Jolie source denies these reports, saying the newly-engaged 37-year-old actress is "completely focused on her next film, Maleficent."

It's hard to see Jolie tied to the film, but not because of her schedule - Fifty Shades is still a long ways off. It's just a little out of her creative wheelhouse.

Oscar-winning A-list actress and director. Poorly-written Twilight-inspired fan fiction turned softcore mommy porn. Somehow these things don't mesh.

Or do they? Should Angie direct the film, and if not, who should? Who do you think should star in the key roles? Tell us in the comments below!

Lucy Hale stars on ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars, but she's perfectly honest about coveting the lead role in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

The pretty, little star is a big fan of the best-selling book and admits she can see herself as Anastasia Steele in the film, which has yet to be cast.

"I just finished the first book. I'm speechless," she said at the MTV Movie Awards. "I think every girl on the carpet wants to play [Anastasia Steele]."

"That would be freaking awesome," says the actress, who turns 23 next week. "I'm really curious to see how they're going to turn it into a film."

As are we. Not only does it involve heavy does of risque sex (think bondage, S&M, all that good stuff), the dialogue is absolutely beyond terrible.

As for a dream Fifty Shades of Grey co-star? He's been talked about plenty for the part.

"Someone sexy but approachable… Looks-wise, [Ian Somerhalder] is a good one.”

Plenty of fans probably agree with her on that selection, and The Vampire Diaries star himself has expressed interest in the role when asked.

What do you think? Can you see Lucy Hale as Anastasia?

What about Ian Somerhalder as Christian?

By popular demand, and after garnering much criticism, a Florida county is putting the racy romance trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey back on library shelves.

Before reversing its decision, the Brevard County Library System was perhaps the most prominent of the many bans of the book occurring nationwide.

The county pulled 19 copies of the best-sellers from its bookshelves earlier this month, calling the popular novels by EL James "semi-pornographic."

  • 50 Shades EW Cover

Monday, the county announced that Fifty Shades of Grey would be available immediately through the library in response to requests from residents.

Library Services Director Cathy Schweinsberg said that the library was against censorship and was reviewing its selection criteria after negative feedback.

Public libraries in several states have banned the book, saying it's too steamy or poorly written. It's definitely the latter, though you can't ban it for that.

Bottom line: Sometimes you gotta lighten up and give the people what they want ... mind-numbingly cheesy, Twilight fan fiction-inspired softcore erotica.

As soon as Universal won the movie rights to the best-selling "mommy porn" trilogy, fans have partaken in an intense, ongoing fantasy casting game.

John Mayer is less of a douche than before he banished himself to Montana.

Now back in the spotlight to promote his latest album, guy's actually been pretty funny. Case in point? The unlucky-in-love crooner appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to discuss how he attempted to pick up a girl recently.

His technique: Excerpting Fifty Shades of Grey in song form.

"I was trying to impress her, and she had [the book] on her Kindle," Mayer revealed. "And so I said, 'I'm going to sing it to you.'"

"So I sang her one of the pages of Fifty Shades of Grey."

Host Jimmy Fallon cracked up hearing Mayer recount his story. "Oh my gosh. And she died on the spot? She's now dead?" he questioned.

"She fell to the ground ... laughing," Mayer admitted.

Safe to say that Mayer isn't on people's list of who should play Christian and Anastasia in the 50 Shades movie, but you can't blame him for trying.

Ashley Benson stars in Pretty Little Liars.

If it were up to her, she'd at Fifty Shades of Grey to her resume as well. The 22-year-old is the latest star to express an interest in the much-anticipated film.

Saying she's been trying to "break out of her good-girl mold," with more edgy films like Spring Breakers, Benson openly covets the role of Anastasia Steele.

“I’ve read every book. I want to play Anastasia,” Benson said.

Though the bubbly blonde doesn't quite match the book's description of Anastasia ("a pale, brown haired girl with blue eyes too big for her face"), she's dead set on the role, even if some fans see her as a perfect Katherine Kavanagh (Ana's BFF).

"Kate is awesome. I like all the characters, but Anastasia? I just love her so much!" the actress explained.

As soon as Universal Pictures won the motion-picture rights to the best-selling "mommy porn" BDSM-themed trilogy, fans have partaken in an ongoing fantasy casting game of who should play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

Robsten, Alexis Bledel, Armie Hammer, Emmy Rossum, Matt Bomer, and The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are all oft-mentioned names.

Think Ashley would be a good fit?

We're very sorry, Justin Bieber. But Selena Gomez is clearly unhappy in your relationship.

The young singer/actress stars in a hilarious new Funny or Die video, one that parodies the effect Fifty Shades of Grey has on women of all ages.

Selena Gomez Video Still

In this case, Gomez is reading the popular novel when she's interrupted by Carl Blue, a painter whose "eyes were staring deep into mine," Gomez narrates, clearly changed forever by the words in this E.L. James book.

From there, she can't help but stare daggers into the coughing and wheezing worker, even stopping to take a picture because it will last longer.

Watch the great video below and then weigh in: Should Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev star as the main couple in the movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey?

Nina Dobrev hasn't read Fifty Shades of Grey yet, but with her name floating around as a possible fit for the female lead, she might want to get on it!

"All I've heard is that it's very scandalous, to say the least," the Vampire Diaries starlet told MTV. "I haven't read it, but I'm intrigued ... who knows?"

"I mean, well, I guess we'll have to see."

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder

With co-star and real-life boyfriend Ian Somerhalder expressing interest in the role of Christian Grey, it's no surprise Dobrev has been linked to Anastasia Steele.

Working with Ian a second time isn't as appealing to Nina as you night think, though. She said if she did play Anastasia, she'd prefer another guy.

"I don't know if that's a good idea," she said of herself and Somerhalder both starring in the movie adaptation of EL James' erotic love story trilogy.

"I think it's best for any of the actors on The Vampire Diaries to kind of do their own things ... and create new characters ... if it's the same people, the fans will alway see me as Elena and they'll see him as Damon if we do a film together."

Would Kristen Stewart be up for starring in Fifty Shades of Grey?

She hasn't read it yet, but she's already dying to star in a new film with boyfriend Robert Pattinson, and it's loosely based on their characters, so ... maybe!

The sexy novel trilogy by EL James, recently acquired by Universal Studios in a movie deal, was inspired by Edward and Bella from the Twilight novels.

Knowing this, could she see herself and Rob in 50 Shades?

“I’m dying to make another movie with Rob, I think that we’re a good team,” Kristen said. “I think whatever it is needs to be so ridiculously ambitious."

Breaking Dawn Stars

"So maybe! I just haven’t read it, so I don’t know too much about what it is, but I've heard good things, and would love to work with him again.”

Kristen reiterated that she "doesn't know" when asked if she could picture herself and Rob playing Christian and Anastasia in 50 Shades of Grey.

You can see why the idea appeals to many fans, however - as does another faux vampire combo in The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.

In the book, Ana (based off of Bella) falls for Christian (based on Edward Cullen), a rich 27-year-old entrepreneur who introduces her into his erotic world of S&M.

What's your take? Would the Snow White and the Huntsman star be a good fit for the role? Vote for who you think should play both lead characters below:

Fifty Shades of Grey, the popular trilogy by EL James, may be topping bestseller lists, but you won't necessarily be able to find it at your local library.

Libraries in a few states are choosing not to stock the books or pulling them from shelves, with many citing what they say is inappropriate content.

The libraries that have decided against stocking the books due to their explicit sexual content so far are located in Georgia, Florida, and Wisconsin.

50 Shades of Grey Trilogy Covers

Some libraries that are not stocking the book cite financial reasons or bad reviews for the trilogy. Yeah right. A Random House spokesperson said:

"Random House fervently opposes literary censorship and supports the First Amendment rights of readers to make their own reading choices."

The book, in case you don't know, is about a hot, rich guy and beautiful, young sex plaything/slave and their various, detailed physical exploits.

Its movie rights were recently optioned, with fan speculation already reaching a fever pitch over who should play Christian and Anastasia.

Sexually provocative or not, a book is still a book, Random House says.

"We believe the Brevard County Public Library System [in Florida] is indulging in an act of censorship," the spokesman says, calling out one library ban in particular.

"Essentially this is saying to library patrons: we will judge what you can read."

"These events resonate as unfortunately considered decisions, as they withdraw from circulation a book with one of the highest demand curves in recent history."

THG's TAKE: C'mon, just lighten up and give the people what they want ... that being mind-numbingly cheesy, Twilight fan fiction-inspired softcore erotica.

Will Ian Somerhalder star in the wildly-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie? That question was posed to The Vampire Diaries star during his Chelsea Lately appearance on Wednesday.

And the talented actor certainly sounds up for it, acknowledging the possibility and joking that - based on his 175-year old blood sucker falling for an 18-year old on this CW hit - he's clearly into younger women.

Other topics broached in the video below: Somerhalder accent, filming his show at night and, of course, Chelsea Handler's overt, unfunny attempts to make EVERYthing about sex. Watch now:

Meanwhile, did you catch last night's Vampire Diaries season finale? If so, please remember to breathe again now. Holy everything.
